Objectives:The basic helix-loop-helix(bHLH)transcription factors(TFs)regulate fruit growth in many ***,there is no available study on the bHLH gene family in the haplotype-resolved genome of cultivated strawberry(Fragaria×ananassa).Materials and Methods:The 131 FabHLH genes identifed in the strawberry cultivar‘Yanli’haplotype-resolved genome were classifed into 24 subfamilies according to their phylogenetic *** structure,conserved motifs,and chromosomal locations were investigated using ***:In total,15 FabHLH genes potentially involved in fruit development were screened based on transcriptome analysis of different stages of fruit *** also identifed the cis-regulatory elements of these 15 FabHLH genes,predicted upstream transcription factors,and identifed protein-protein ***:The fndings of this study improve our understanding of the regulation mediated by bHLH TFs during strawberry fruit growth and maturation.

Long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs)are important in abiotic stress ***,we identified salt-responsive genes and lncRNAs in the roots and leaves of Betula platyphylla Suk.(birch),and characterized their lncRNAs *** total,2660 mRNAs and 539 lncRNAs responding to salt treatment were identified using *** salt-responsive genes were substantially enriched in‘cell wall biogenesis’and‘wood development’in the roots and were enriched in‘photosynthesis’and‘response to stimulus’in the ***,the potential target genes of the salt-responsive lncRNAs in roots and leaves were both enriched in‘nitrogen compound metabolic process’and‘response to stimulus’.We further built a method for quickly identifying abiotic stress tolerance of lncRNAs,which employed transient transformation for overexpression and knock-down of the lncRNA,enabling gain-and loss-of-function *** this method,11 randomly selected salt-responsive lncRNAs were *** them,six lncRNAs confer salt tolerance,two lncRNAs confer salt sensitivity,and the other three lncRNAs are not involved in salt *** addition,a lncRNA,LncY1,was further characterized,which improves salt tolerance by regulating two transcription factors,BpMYB96 and *** together,our results suggested that lncRNAs play important roles in the salt response of birch plants.

Cultivated strawberry(Fragaria×ananassa),a perennial herb belonging to the family Rosaceae,is a complex octoploid with high heterozygosity at most ***,there is no research on the haplotype of the octoploid strawberry *** we aimed to obtain a high-quality genome of the cultivated strawberry cultivar,“Yanli”,using single molecule real-time sequencing and high-throughput chromosome conformation capture ***“Yanli”genome was 823 Mb in size,with a long terminal repeat assembly index of *** genome was phased into two haplotypes,Hap1(825 Mb with contig N50 of 26.70 Mb)and Hap2(808 Mb with contig N50 of 27.51 Mb).Using the combination of Hap1 and Hap2,we obtained for the first time a haplotype-resolved genome with 56 chromosomes for the cultivated octoploid *** identified a∼10 Mb inversion and translocation on chromosome 2-1.104957 and 102356 protein-coding genes were annotated in Hap1 and Hap2,*** of the genes related to the anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway revealed the structural diversity and complexity in the expression of the alleles in the octoploid F.×ananassa *** summary,we obtained a high-quality haplotype-resolved genome assembly of F.×ananassa,which will provide the foundation for investigating gene function and evolution of the genome of cultivated octoploid strawberry.

Branch phenotypic traits determine tree crown architecture,which in turn governs leaf display,light interception,and biomass *** and proleptic branches are the obviously different branch phenotypes in the poplar *** studies have focused on the influence of sylleptic branch numbers(SBN)on biomass production,but the research on the influence of proleptic branch phenotypes was only a *** explore the relationship between proleptic branch traits and biomass generation production in a high-density poplar plantation,we investigated the branch phenotypic traits of three poplar genotypes,all of which have high survival rates in forests(>95%)and significantly different crown architecture and biomass performance in the high-density plantations(1667 stems ha−1).The plantation site was established in 2007.A terrestrial laser scanner was used to measure branch characteristics such as length,angle of origin and termination,and azi-muth angle.A hierarchical cluster analysis performed on branch characteristics showed that SBN,crown depth,and proleptic branch curvature(PBC)were clustered with bio-mass production and leaf area index(LAI).Among all of the monitored traits,PBC played the second most important role in biomass production after SBN and was significantly correlated with SBN,LAI,and biomass *** positive correlation between PBC and SBN indicated that a larger PBC was associated with more sylleptic branches within the monitored genotypes planted in the high-density plantation,providing greater leaf area and biomass *** results of this study will improve the identification of high-production poplar varieties for cultivation in high-density plantations for biofuel production.

The erect panicle （Ep） type is an important characteristic for japonica super rice in Northeast China and plays a significant role in enhancing yield. The Ep type is considered to be a genetic ideotype resource to the japonica super rice group by virtue of its agronomic advantages such as grain number per panicle and biomass. This study addresses the effects of nitrogen and planting density conditions on yielding performance regarding panicle type （PT） using the recombinant inbred line （RIL） population derived from the cross between an Ep variety Liaogeng 5 and non-Ep variety Wanlun 422. The genetics underlying the Ep type proved to be robust not only for panicle-type optimization but also plant height, panicle length, flag leaf length and seed density. We also found that regardless of nitrogen and density, correlation between harvest index （HI） and plant height was not significant in Ep type whatever the nitrogen and density. The application of Ep type provides a potential strategy for yield improvement by increasing biomass through HI maintainable in rice.
