Effects of Different Light Qualities on the Growth Characteristics of Populus trinervis

Populus trinervis is native to China and plays an irreplaceable role in maintaining the ecological balance of boreal and temperate *** mainly grows in high-altitude *** present,there are limited studies on the response of *** to different light qualities,so it is necessary to investigate the photosynthetic physiological changes of *** in different light *** our study,*** was grown for 8 months under light filtered by three different colored *** three treatments were blue film,green film,and white plastic *** effects of blue(B),green(G),and white(W)light on photosynthetic pigment content,absolute growth,photosynthetic parameters,soluble sugar content,and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters were studied,*** to the Wtreatment,the chlorophyll a and b,carotenoids,total chlorophyll content(a+b),absolute growth of seedling height,net photosynthetic rate(PN),water use efficiency(WUE),total soluble sugars,sucrose,and nonphotochemical quenching(NPQ)of *** were significantly increased under B ***,chlorophyll a and b,carotenoids,total chlorophyll(a+b),transpiration rate(Tr),intercellular CO_(2) concentration(Ci),stomatal conductance(gs),absolute growth of seedling height and leaf length,reducing sugar,total soluble sugar content,and NPQ were significantly increased under G *** results showed that the absolute growth and chlorophyll content of *** were increased under B light,while the sugar and photosynthetic parameters were increased under G *** studies may look into how B light impacts absolute growth and promotional mechanisms,as well as how G light affects the accumulation of sugar levels.

Infant call structure should have evolved to elicit maximum maternal attention and *** of giant pandas produce three types of vocalizations reported to be vitally important in the context of mother–infant ***,how cubs,0–15 days old,communicate with their mothers to elicit maternal care remains *** analyzed 12 different call parameters of 3475 squawks,1355 squalls,and 491 croaks from 11 captive giant panda(Ailuropoda melanoleuca)neonates from age 0 to 15 *** playback experiments,we also tested whether mothers could detect *** results show that neonates use broadband calls with ultrasonic frequencies up to 65 kHz to convey information about their physiological needs and to attract maternal *** playback experiments,we tested if mothers reacted differently to broadband calls(BBC)than to artificially altered calls that included only frequencies20 kHz(USC).Playback confirmed that,although adult females responded significantly less often to USC,BBC than to or AUDC,they could detect USC,BBC and generally made appropriate behavioral responses,indicating a potential benefit for neonates to utilize ultrasonic and broadband *** findings provide a new insight into mother–infant communication in giant pandas and will be helpful for reducing the mortality of cubs,younger than 1 month old,in captivity.

Tectonic geomorphology of Türkiye and its insights into the neotectonic deformation of the Anatolian Plate

Quantitative geomorphic analyses are usually powerful in identifying active tectonics across global orogenic *** present study will focus on the Anatolian Plate which hosts a lot of recent catastrophic earthquakes in Tü*** geomorphic indices for 100 sub-basins around Türkiye have been computed including local relief,slope,normalized steepness index(k_(Sn)),hypsometric curve and integral(HI),transverse topographic symmetry factor(Tf),and the basin asymmetry factor(Af).The averaged kSnand Af values have shown four high-value anomalous zones,suggesting relatively high uplift rates featured by high river incision and regional *** values of 0.35≤HI<0.6 for basins with S-shaped curves imply intensive tectonic activities along the eastern part of the North Anatolian Fault Zone(NAFZ),the Northeast Anatolian Fault Zone(NEAFZ),the East Anatolian Fault Zone(EAFZ),and the Central Anatolian Fault Zone(CAFZ).All results of the geomorphic indices analysis suggest a relatively high degree of tectonic activity in the following four areas,the Isparta Angle,the Eastern Black Sea Mountains,the South-eastern Anatolia Region,and the Central Anatolian fault *** further suggest that the eastern part of the NAFZ,NEAFZ,EAFZ,and CAFZ will be more active in tectonic activities,with a greater potential for strong earthquake occurrence.

The role that visual discriminative ability plays among giant pandas in social communication and individual discrimination has received less attention than olfactory and auditory ***,we used an eye-tracker technology to investigate pupil fixation patterns for 8 captive male giant pandas Ailuropoda *** paired images(N=26)of conspecifics against:1)sympatric predators(gray wolves and tigers),and non-threatening sympatric species(golden pheasant,golden snub-nosed monkey,takin,and red panda),2)conspecifics with atypical fur colora-tion(albino and brown),and 3)zookeepers/non-zookeepers wearing either work uniform or plain *** each session,we tracked the pan-da's pupil movements and measured pupil first fixation point(FFP),fixation latency,total fixation count(TFC),and duration(TFD)of attention to each ***,pandas exhibited similar attention(FFPs and TFCs)to images of predators and non-threatening sympatric *** of golden pheasant,snub-nosed monkey,and tiger received less attention(TFD)than images of conspecifics,whereas images of takin and red panda received more attention,suggesting a greater alertness to habitat or food competitors than to potential ***'TFCs were greater for images of black-white conspecifics than for albino or brown phenotypes,implying that familiar color elicited more *** reacted differently to images of men versus *** images of women only,pandas gave more attention(TFC)to familiar combinations(uniformed zookeepers and plain-clothed non-zookeepers),consistent with the familiarity *** pandas can use visual perception to discriminate intra-specifically and inter-specifically,including details of human appearance,has applications for panda conservation and captive husbandry.

Exploring changes of precipitation extremes under climate change through global variable-resolution modeling

Understanding the responses of precipitation extremes to global climate change remains limited owing to their poor representations in models and complicated interactions with multi-scale *** we take the record-breaking precipitation over China in 2021 as an example,and study its changes under three different climate scenarios through a developed pseudo-global-warming(PGW)experimental framework with 60-3 km variable-resolution global ensemble *** to the present climate,the precipitation extreme under a warmer(cooler)climate increased(decreased)in intensity,coverage,and total amount at a range of 24.3%-37.8%(18.7%-56.1%).With the help of the proposed PGW experimental framework,we further reveal the impacts of the multi-scale system interactions in climate change on the precipitation *** the warmer climate,large-scale water vapor transport converged from double typhoons and the subtropical high marched into central China,enhancing the convective energy and instability on the leading edge of the transport *** a result,the mesoscale convective system(Mcs)that directly contributed to the precipitation extreme became stronger than that in the present *** the contrary,the cooler climate displayed opposite changing characteristics relative to the warmer climate,ranging from the large-scale systems to local environments and to the *** summary,our study provides a promising approach to scientifically assess the response of precipitation extremes to climate change,making it feasible to perform ensemble simulations while investigating the multi-scale system interactions over the globe.

Staphylococcal enterotoxin A(SEA)derived from Staphylococcus aureus,as a superantigen,shows potential for cancer immunotherapy,but systemic immunotoxicity restricts its clinical *** delivery of SEA to tumor site provides a promising option for reducing the systemic ***,we constructed an iRGD peptide(H-[Cys-Arg-Gly-Asp-Lys-Gly-Pro-Asp-Cys]-NH_(2))modified nanoparticle(iDPP)to deliver plasmids encoding SEA for melanoma *** iDPP/SEA nanocomplexes efficiently mediated SEA expression in B16-F10 cells in vivo and in vitro and induced the activation of lymphocytes and maturation of murine bone marrow-derived dendritic cells(BMDCs)in *** the subcutaneous B16-F10 melanoma model,the iDPP/SEA nanocomplexes could effectively enhance immune response and T lymphocytes infiltration in tumor site after intravenous administration,thereby considerably decreased melanoma ***,no obvious adverse effect was observed after intravenous administration of the iDPP/SEA nanocomplexes in *** findings demonstrated that gene therapy of SEA is a potential candidate for melanoma treatment.

Acupoint catgut-embedding therapy ameliorates DNCB-induced atopic dermatitis in BALB/c mice by regulating Th2 type immune response and reducing infiltration of CD4^(+)and CD8^(+)cells

Background:This study aimed to assess how acupoint catgut-embedding therapy influences Th2-type immune response and the infiltration of CD4^(+)and CD8^(+)cells in DNCB-induced atopic dermatitis in BALB/c *** also conducted an initial examination of the underlying molecular ***:Seventy-two mice were randomly divided into four groups:normal control,DNCB-induced atopic dermatitis model(AD),AD with acupoint catgut-embedding treatment(ADA),and AD with sham-acupoint catgut-embedding *** DNCB challenge to induce AD,the ADA group received acupoint catgut-embedding therapy treatment at Zusanli(ST 36)and Quchi(LI 11)acupoints every other week from day *** in the AD with sham-acupoint catgut-embedding treatment group underwent the same procedure as the ADA group but without catgut *** was assessed using SCORAD on treatment days 1,10,and *** day 18,nine mice per group were euthanized,and the remaining on day *** changes were observed using hematoxylin-eosin and immunohistochemistry ***-α,IL-4,IL-6,and IL-13 levels were analyzed by ELISA,and GATA3 and STAT6 protein levels by western ***:After 20 days of acupoint catgut-embedding therapy treatment,mice showed reduced dermatitis scores compared to DNCB-induced AD-like *** decreases occurred in serum IL-4,IL-6,IL-13,and TNF-α*** analysis revealed marked reductions in CD4^(+)and CD8^(+)cell infiltration,as well as GATA3 and STAT6 protein ***:Acupoint catgut-embedding therapy may effectively alleviate atopic dermatitis by suppressing Th2 immune responses via the STAT6-GATA3 pathway and reducing CD4^(+)and CD8^(+)T cell infiltration in skin lesions.

Understanding genome-wide diversity,inbreeding,and the burden of accumulated deleterious mutations in small and isolated populations is essential for predicting and enhancing population persistence and ***,these effects are rarely studied in limestone karst ***,we re-sequenced the nuclear genomes of 62 individuals of the Begonia masoniana complex(***,***,*** and ***)and investigated genomic divergence and genetic load for these four *** analyses revealed four distinct clusters corresponding to each species within the ***,there was only limited admixture between *** and *** occurring in overlapping geographic *** species experienced historical bottlenecks during the Pleistocene,which were likely caused by glacial climate *** detected an asymmetric historical gene flow between group pairs within this timeframe,highlighting a distinctive pattern of interspecific divergence attributable to karst geographic *** found that isolated populations of *** have limited gene flow,the smallest recent population size,the highest inbreeding coefficients,and the greatest accumulation of recessive deleterious *** findings underscore the urgency to prioritize conservation efforts for these isolated *** study is among the first to disentangle the genetic differentiation and specific demographic history of karst Begonia plants at the whole-genome level,shedding light on the potential risks associated with the accumulation of deleterious mutations over generations of ***,our findings may facilitate conservation planning by providing critical baseline genetic data and a better understanding of the historical events that have shaped current population structure of rare and endangered karst plants.
