Measurement of the first Townsend's ionization coefficient for atmospheric pressure neon by a dielectric barrier discharge

Fast photography and optical emission spectroscopy are implemented in a 5 mm neon gap dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) at atmospheric pressure with quartz glass used as the dielectric layer. Results show that it starts with a Townsend discharge and ends at a sub-normal glow discharge in neon DBD. Based on the Townsend discharge, the first ionization coefficient of neon is measured. The measurements are consistent with those at low pressure. Optical emission spectroscopy indicates that the spectra are mainly composed of atomic lines of neon, molecular bands and molecular ion bands originating from inevitable gas impurities(mainly nitrogen).Moreover, spectral lines emitted from atomic neon corresponding to the transitions(2p^5 3p→2p^5 3s) are predominant. Although the second positive system of N_2(C^3Π_u→B^3Π_g) is observed, their intensities are too weak compared with neon's spectrum. The molecular nitrogen ion line of 391.4 nm is observed. It reveals that Penning ionization between high energy neon excited states and the inevitable gas impurities plays an important role in the value of the αcoefficient.

Generating dense and super-resolution ISAR image by combining bandwidth extrapolation and compressive sensing

Recent developing compressive sensing (CS) theory indicates that it is possible to obtain precise recovery of a sparse signal from very limited measurements,which provides a new way for data acquisition and signal processing as nature signals usually involve some degree of *** this paper,we present an algorithm for inversed synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging with super resolution by combining CS and bandwidth extrapolation (BWE) *** ISAR imaging,the backscattering field of target is usually contributed by a few strong scattering centers,whose number is much less than that of image ***,CS is intuitively suitable for constructing super resolution ISAR *** to CS theory,the number of extracted dominating scatterers relies on the signal length,which indicates that if only limited data is available,it is difficult to generate dense ISAR image robustly by CS,and some signal components tend to *** soften this constraint,BWE is combined with CS imaging to increase the degree of freedom of signal while preserving its coherence.A refined CS-based formation for ISAR image-resolution enhancement is then *** real and simulated data experiments are performed to evaluate the proposed approach,and an example of using this technique demonstrates the enhanced image resolution in application of maneuvering target imaging.

Variations of sulfur and carbon isotopes in seawater during the Doushantuo stage in late Neoproterozoic

Successive analyses of sulfur and carbon isotopic compositions of carbonates strata in the Doushantuo Formation in the Yangtze area were accomplished through a method of extracting trace sulfate from carbonates. Sulfur and carbon isotopic compositions of coeval seawater were estimated from the samples that show the least diagenetic alteration. A high-resolution age curve of sulfur isotopes in seawater sulfates was obtained in the Doushantuo stage, which reflects the trend of variation in seawater sulfur isotopes after the Neoproterozoic snowball Earth event. Similar characteristics of variation in carbon isotopes were observed in the coeval carbonates. A large positive d 34S excursion over +20?occurs in ancient seawater sulfates in the early Doushantuo stage. Simultaneously, the d 13C values in ancient seawater carbonates exhibit a positive excursion up to 10. The maximum d 34S and d 13C values are +46.4 and +6.9? respectively. In the middle Doushantuo stage, the range of variation in d 34S values of seawater is relatively narrow, but d 13C values are quite high. Then, d 34S values of seawater become oscillating, and the same occurs in d 13C values. Negative excursions in d 34S and d 13C values occur simultaneously at the end of the Doushantuo stage, and the minimum d 34S and d 13C values dropped down to -10.1 and -5.7? respectively. The characteristics of variations in the sulfur and carbon isotopes of ancient seawater imply strong changes in oceanic environment that became beneficial to inhabitation and propagation of organism. The organic productivity and burial rate of organic carbon once reached a quite high level during the Doushantuo stage. However, the state of environment became unstable after the global glaciation. The global climate and environment possibly were fluctuating and reiterating. Existence of 3-round zero-knowledge proof systems for NP

This paper considers the existence of 3-round zero-knowledge proof systems for NP. Whether there exist 3-round non-black-box zero-knowledge proof systems for NP language is an open problem. By introducing a new interactive proof model, we construct a 3-round zero-knowledge proof system for graph 3-coloring under standard assumptions. Our protocol is a non-black-box zero-knowledge proof because we adopt a special strategy to prove the zero-knowledge property. Consequently, our construction shows the existence of 3-round non-black-box zero-knowledge proof for all languages in NP under the DDH assumption.

Brain aging is typically associated with a significant decline in cognitive *** risk factors(VRF)and subsequent atherosclerosis(AS)play a major role in this *** resilience reflects the brain’s ability to withstand external perturbations,but the relationship of brain resilience with cognition during the aging process remains ***,we investigated how brain topological resilience(BTR)is associated with cognitive performance in the face of aging and vascular risk *** used data from two cross-ethnicity community cohorts,PolyvasculaR Evaluation for Cognitive Impairment and Vascular Events(PRECISE,n=2220)and Sydney Memory and Ageing Study(MAS,n=246).We conducted an attack simulation on brain structural networks based on k-shell decomposition and node degree *** was defined based on changes in the size of the largest subgroup of the network during the simulation ***,we explored the negative correlations of BTR with age,VRF,and AS,and its positive correlation with cognitive ***,using structural equation modeling(SEM),we constructed path models to analyze the directional dependencies among these variables,demonstrating that aging,AS,and VRF affect cognition by disrupting *** results also indicated the specificity of this metric,independent of brain ***,these findings underscore the supportive role of BTR on cognition during aging and highlight its potential application as an imaging marker for objective assessment of brain cognitive performance.

Potential control of DNA self-assembly on gold electrode

The self-assembly monolayer (SAM) was prepared with 2-aminoethanethiol (AET) on the gold electrode. A new approach based on potential was first used to control DNA self-assembly covalently onto the SAM with the activation of l-ethyl-3(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-carbodiimide (EDC) and N-hydroxysulfosuccinimide (NHS). The influence of potential on DNA self-assembly was investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry (CV), AC impedance, Auger electron spectrometry (AES) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The result proves that controlled potential can affect the course of DNA self-assembly. More negative potential can restrain the DNA self-assembly, while more positive potential can accelerate the DNA self-assembly, which is of great significance for the control of DNA self-assembly and will find wide application in the field of DNA-based devices.

Accelerated Parallel Texture Optimization

Texture optimization is a texture synthesis method that can efficiently reproduce various features of exemplar textures. However, its slow synthesis speed limits its usage in many interactive or real time applications. In this paper, we propose a parallel texture optimization algorithm to run on GPUs. In our algorithm, k-coherence search and principle component analysis （PCA） are used for hardware acceleration, and two acceleration techniques are further developed to speed up our GPU-based texture optimization. With a reasonable precomputation cost, the online synthesis speed of our algorithm is 4000＋ times faster than that of the original texture optimization algorithm and thus our algorithm is capable of interactive applications. The advantages of the new scheme are demonstrated by applying it to interactive editing of flow-guided synthesis.
