seaweed has been used in traditional cosmetics and as a herbal medicine in treatments for cough,boils,goiters,stomach ailments,and urinary diseases,and for reducing the incidence of tumors,ulcers,and *** the fact that seaweeds are frequently used in the practice of human health,little is known about the role of seaweed in the context of *** study aimed to investigate the influence of jeju endemic seaweed on a mouse macrophage cell line(RAW 264.7) under the stimulation of lipopolysaccharide(LPS).Ethyl acetate extracts obtained from 14 different kinds of jeju seaweeds were screened for inhibitory effects on pro-inflammatory *** results revealed that extracts from five seaweeds,Laurencia okamurae,Grateloupia elliptica,Sargassum thun-bergii,Gloiopeltis furcata,and Hizikia fusiformis,were potent inhibitors of the production of pro-inflammatory mediators such as nitric oxide(NO),prostaglandin E2(PGE2),interleukin-6(IL-6),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α).Based on these results,the anti-inflammatory effects and low cell toxicity of these seaweed extracts suggest potential thera-peutic applications in the regulation of the inflammatory response.

Objective:To investigate the suitability of citrus-press cakes,by-products of the juice industry as a source for the whitening agents for cosmetic ***:Ethylacetate extracts of citrus-press cakes(CCE)were examined for their anti-melanogenic potentials in terms of the inhibition of melanin production and mechanisim of melanogenesis by using Western Blot analysis with tyrosinese,tyrosinase-related protein-1(TRP-1),TRP2,and microphthalmia-associated transcription factor(MITF)*** apply the topical agents,citrus-press cakes was investigated the safety in human skin cell *** flavonoid analysis of CCE was also determined by HPLC ***:Results indicated that CCE were shown to down-regulate melanin content in a dose-dependent *** CCE inhibited tyrosinase,TRP-2,and MITF expressions in a dose-dependent *** test the applicability of CCE to human skin,we used MTT assay to assess the cytotoxic effects of CCE on human keratinocyte HaCaT *** CCE exhibited low cytotoxicity at 50μg/*** of the citrus-press cakes for flavonoid contents using HPLC showed varied quantity of rutin,narirutin,and ***:Considering the anti-melanogenic activity and human safety,CCE is considered as a potential anti-melanogenic agent and may be effective for topical application for treating hyperpigmentation disorders.

Objective:To investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of jeju seaweeds on macrophage RAW264.7 cells under lipopolysaccharide(LPS)***:Ethyl acetate fractions were prepared from five different types of jeju seaweeds,Dictyopteris divaricata(***),Dictyopteris prolifera(***),Prioutis cornea(***,Grateloupia laceolata(G,lanceolate,and Cralcloupia filicina(***)They were screened for inhibitory effects on proinflammatory mediators and cytokines such as nitric oxide(NO),prostaglandin E,,tumor necrosis factor-a(TNF-a),and interleukin-6(11.-6).Results:Our results revealed that ***,***,***,***,and *** potently inhibited ***-stimulaled NO production(IC_(50),values were 18.0,38.36,38.43,32.81 and 37.14μg/mL,respectively).Consistent with these findings,***,***,***,and *** also reduced the IPS-induced and prostaglandin E,production in a concentration-dependent ***,they suppressed the expression of inducible NO synthase and cyclooxygenase-2 at the protein level in a dose-dependent manner in the RAW264.7 cells,as detennined by western *** addition,the levels of TNF-a and IL-6,released into the medium,were also reduced by ***,***,***,G,lanceolata,and *** in a dose-dependent manner(IC_(50)values for TNF-a were 16.11,28.21,84.27,45.52 and74.75μg/mL,respectively;IC_(50),values for IL-6 were 37.35,80.08,103.28,62.53 and 84.28μg/mL,respectively).The total phlorotannin content was measured by the Folin-Ciocalteu method and expressed as phloroglucinol *** content was 92.0μg/mg for ***,151.8μg/mg for ***,57.2μg/mg for ***,53.0 pg/mg for ***,and 40.2μg/mg for ***:Thus,these findings suggest that jeju seaweed extracts have potential therapeutic applications for inflammatory responses.

Integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) has been proposed as a concept that combines the cultivation of fed aquaculture species (e.g., finfish/shrimp) with extractive aquaculture species (e.g., shellfish/seaweed). In seaweed-based integrated aquaculture, seaweeds have the capacity to reduce the environmental impact of nitrogen-rich effluents on coastal ecosystems. Thus, selection of optimal species for such aquaculture is of great importance. The present study aimed to develop a seaweed species-selection index for selecting suitable species in seaweed-based integrated aquaculture system. The index was synthesized using available literature-based information, reference data, and physiological seaweed experiments to identify and prioritize the desired species. Undaria pinnatifida, Porphyra yezoensis and Ulva compressa scored the highest according to a seaweed-based integrated aquaculture suitability index (SASI). seaweed species with the highest scores were adjudged to fit the integrated aquaculture systems. Despite the application of this model limited by local aquaculture environment, it is considered to be a useful tool for selecting seaweed species in IMTA.

In this study,the correlation between simulated and measured radar velocity spectrum width(σ_(v))is *** results show that the dendrites growth zones(DGZs)and needles growth zones(NGZs)mostly contain dendrites(DN)and needles(NE),***σ_(v) zones(1.1agency and mesoscale model reanalysis *** particles with diverse particle shapes were observed in the DGZ withσ_(v)>1.2 m s^(-1),a differential reflectivity(ZDR)higher than 0 dB,and a cross-correlation coefficient(ρhv)less than *** contrast,prolate particles with relatively uniform shapes were observed in the NGZ withσ_(v)<0.6 m s^(-1),a ZDR less than 0 dB,andρhv higher than *** simulation results show that the DN exhibited a largerσ_(v) compared to the NE,and this observedσ_(v) was strongly dependent on the wind fluctuations(v’)due to turbulence or wind *** contrast,the NE exhibited a significantly smallσ_(v)~0.55 m s^(-1),which converges irrespective of v’.In addition,a strong correlation between the measuredσ_(v) values at five radar elevation angles(θ=6.2°,9.1°,13.1°,19°,and 80°)and those simulated in this study confirmed the significance of the analysis results.

A major problem associated with marine spatial planning(MSP)involves the difficult and time-consuming practice of creating a scenario that encompasses complex datasets in near real time via the use of a simple spatial analysis ***,decision-makers require a reliable,user-friendly system to quickly and accessibly acquire accurate spatial planning *** development of national spatial data infrastructure(NSDI),which links the spatial data of a nation’s many diverse institutions,may pave the way for the development of a tool that can better utilize spatial datasets,such as a spatial decision support system(SDSS).Thus,this project aimed to develop an SDSS for MSP and to evaluate the feasibility of its integration within the NSDI *** seaweed culture was selected as an example due to its economic and technological acceptance by traditional ***,a multicriteria analysis was used to develop the ***,a feasibility evaluation of its implementation within the NSDI framework was conducted based on the Delphi *** results of the assessment indicated that the SDSS can be incorporated into the NSDI framework by addressing the policy issue–one map policy,updating custodians’decree and data,and improve the standard and protocol.

Seasonal tropical cyclone(TC)forecasting has evolved substantially since its commencement in the early ***,present operational seasonal TC forecasting services still do not meet the requirements of society and stakeholders:current operational products are mainly basin-scale information,while more detailed sub-basin scale information such as potential risks of TC landfall is anticipated for decision *** fill this gap and make the TC science and services move forward,this paper reviews recent research and development in seasonal tropical cyclone(TC)*** particular,this paper features new research topics on seasonal TC predictability in neutral conditions of El Ni˜no–Southern Oscillation(ENSO),emerging forecasting techniques of seasonal TC activity including Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence,and multi-annual TC *** also review the skill of forecast systems at predicting landfalling statistics for certain regions of the North Atlantic,Western North Pacific and South Indian oceans and discuss the gap that remains between current products and potential user's *** knowledge and advanced forecasting techniques are expected to further enhance the capability of seasonal TC forecasting and lead to more actionable and fit-for-purpose products.
