Land cover classification in a mixed forest-grassland ecosystem using LResU-net and UAV imagery

Using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) paired with image semantic segmentation to classify land cover within natural vegetation can promote the development of forest and grassland field. semantic segmentation normally excels in medical and building classification, but its usefulness in mixed forest-grassland ecosystems in semi-arid to semi-humid climates is unknown. This study proposes a new semantic segmentation network of LResU-net in which residual convolution unit (RCU) and loop convolution unit (LCU) are added to the U-net framework to classify images of different land covers generated by UAV high resolution. The selected model enhanced classification accuracy by increasing gradient mapping via RCU and modifying the size of convolution layers via LCU as well as reducing convolution kernels. To achieve this objective, a group of orthophotos were taken at an altitude of 260 m for testing in a natural forest-grassland ecosystem of Keyouqianqi, Inner mongolia, China, and compared the results with those of three other network models (U-net, ResU-net and LU-net). The results show that both the highest kappa coefficient (0.86) and the highest overall accuracy (93.7%) resulted from LResU-net, and the value of m.s. land covers provided by the producer’s and user’s accuracy generated in LResU-net exceeded 0.85. The pixel-area ratio approach was used to calculate the real areas of 10 different land covers where grasslands were 67.3%. The analysis of the effect of RCU and LCU on the model training performance indicates that the time of each epoch was shortened from U-net (358 s) to LResU-net (282 s). In addition, in order to classify areas that are not distinguishable, unclassified areas were defined and their impact on classification. LResU-net generated significantly more accurate results than the other three models and was regarded as the m.s. appropriate approach to classify land cover in mixed forest-grassland ecosystems.

This work constitutes the first contribution for the systematisation of geological heritage knowledge in Portugal, following the international recommendations for the characterisation of geological heritage （IUGs, ProGEO）. The application of the ProGEO methodology has resulted in the creation of fourteen frameworks with international relevance, established by consensus among the Portuguese geological community. The description of each category in this paper is not exhaustive and only the m.s. relevant scientific settings are presented. The following are the three key outcom.s.of this work： i） At a national level, the m.s. important geosites are identified, indicating where geoconservation efforts should be prioritised based on scientific justification; ii） At a regional level, conditions have been developed to foster dialogue with spanish colleagues in order to create Iberian frameworks; iii） At an international level, it is now possible to integrate Portuguese geosites into the global inventories promoted by IUGs, UNEsCO, and ProGEO.

The terrain of Inner mongolia is long and narrow, and the geological structure is complicated. The south China crustal velocity model and Inner mongolias optimal crustal velocity model 2015 cannot fully meet the earthquake location requirements of Inner mongolia. Based on the seismological observations produced by Inner mongolia seismic Digital Network from 2009 to 2016,the initial model was obtained by using the linear fit of the seismic phases and the converted travel time curve. The Hyposat results of 225 earthquakes that occurred in western Inner mongolia were scanned using this model,and the velocity model for western Inner mongolia was determined as follows: V1= 6. 06 km.s.VPb= 6. 61 km.s. Vn= 8. 12 km.s. H1= 30 m; and the moho depth H = 44 km. Comparison of the test results of the new model and the reference model shows that the residual error of the new model and the mean deviation of the epicenter location have obviously decreased.

AIm To determine the prevalence of epstein-barr virus(eb V)-associated gastric carcinom.s.in the North Region of Portugal and to study its clinicopathological characteristics. mETHODs We have performed a retrospective study including a total of 179 consecutive patients with gastric cancer(GC) submitted to gastrectomy during 2011 at the Portuguese Oncology Institute of Porto. Clinical and pathological data was collected from individual clinical records and inserted on a database with unique codification. Tumour tissues were collected from the institutional tumour bank. eb V was detected by in situ hybridization for the detection of eb V-encoded small RNAs(ebe Rs) and eb V latent proteins(LmP1 and LmP2 A) were detected by *** The analysis showed that eb V-associated gastric carcinom.s.eb Va GC) represents 8.4%(15/179) of all GC cases, with a significant differential distribution among histological types(P medullary carcinom.s. 100%(1/1) of adenosquamous carcinoma, 8.7%(8/92) of tubular adenocarcinom.s. 8.0%(2/25) of mixed carcinom.s.and 2%(1/51) in poorly cohesive carcinom.s. The analysis revealed a higher predominance of eb Va GC in the upper third and middle(cardia, fundus and body) of the stomach(P = 0.041), a significant lower number of regional lymph nodes invasion(P = 0.025) and a tendency for better prognosis(P = 0.222). eb V latent protein expression revealed that all eb Va GC cases were LmP1-negative, nevertheless 6 cases(40%) expressed LPm2 A, which reveals that these cases show a distinct eb V-Latency profile(latency II-like).CONCLUsION eb Va GC represents 8.4% of all GC in the North Region of Portugal. The eb V-infected patients have specific clinic-pathological features that should be further explored to develop new strategies of management and treatment.
