Knowledge of oxygen consumption rates and asphyxiation points in fish is important to determine appropriate stocking and water quality management in aquaculture. The oxygen consumption rate and asphyxiation point in Chanodichthys mongolicus were detected under laboratory conditions using an improved respirometer chamber. The results revealed that more accurate estimates can be obtained by adjusting the volume of the respirometer chamber, which may avoid system errors caused by either repeatedly adjusting fish density or selecting different equipment specifications. The oxygen consumption rate and asphyxiation point of C. mongolicus increased with increasing water temperature and decreasing fish size. Changes in the C. mongolicus oxygen consumption rate were divided into three stages at water temperatures of 11-33~C：（I） a low temperature oxygen consumption rate stage when water temperature was 11-19~C, （2） the optimum temperature oxygen consumption rate stage when water temperature was 19-23~C, and （3） a high temperature oxygen consumption rate stage when water temperature was 〉27~C. The temperature quotients （Q10） obtained suggested that C. mongolicus preferred a temperature range of 19-23~C. At 19~C, C. mongolicus exhibited higher oxygen consumption rates during the day when the maximum values were observed at 10：00 and 14：00 than at night when the minimum occurred at 02：00.

Understanding the response of vegetation variation to climate change and human activities is critical for addressing future conflicts between humans and the environment,and maintaining ecosystem ***,we aimed to identify the determining factors of vegetation variation and explore the sensitivity of vegetation to temperature(SVT)and the sensitivity of vegetation to precipitation(SVP)in the Shiyang River Basin(SYRB)of China during *** climate data from climatic research unit(CRU),vegetation index data from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS),and land use data from Landsat images were used to analyze the spatial-temporal changes in vegetation indices,climate,and land use in the SYRB and its sub-basins(i.e.,upstream,midstream,and downstream basins)during *** regression analysis and correlation analysis were used to explore the SVT and SVP,revealing the driving factors of vegetation *** increasing trends(P<0.05)were detected for the enhanced vegetation index(EVI)and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)in the SYRB during 2001-2022,with most regions(84%)experiencing significant variation in vegetation,and land use change was determined as the dominant factor of vegetation ***-significant decreasing trends were detected in the SVT and SVP of the SYRB during *** were spatial differences in vegetation variation,SVT,and *** NDVI and EVI exhibited increasing trends in the upstream,midstream,and downstream basins,the change slope in the downstream basin was lower than those in the upstream and midstream basins,the SVT in the upstream basin was higher than those in the midstream and downstream basins,and the SVP in the downstream basin was lower than those in the upstream and midstream *** and precipitation changes controlled vegetation variation in the upstream and midstream basins while human activities(land use change)dominated vegetation variation in the d

The second-order distorted wave Born aPl6roximation （DWBA） method is employed to investigate the triple differen- tial cross sections （TDCS） of coplanar doubly symmetric （e, 2e） collisions for magnesium at excess energies of 6 eV-20 eV. Comparing with the standard first-order DWBA calculations, the inclusion of the second-order Born term in the scattering amplitude improves the degree of agreement with experiments, especially for backward scattering region of TDCS. This indicates that the present second-order Born term is capable to give a reasonable correction to DWBA model in studying coplanar symmetric （e, 2e） problems of two-valence-electron target in low energy range.

The supercontinuum （SC） generation in all-normal dispersion （ANDi） photonic-crystal fiber （PCF） pumped by high power picosecond pulses are investigated in this paper. Our results show that an octave SC may be achieved by pumping the ANDi PCF with picosecond pump pulses. However, the PCF length required may have to be lengthened to several tens of centimeters, which is much longer than that with femtosecond pump pulses. The relatively long PCF gives rise to much higher Raman gain and stronger Raman frequency shift compared to those with femtosecond pump pulses, which in turn not only cause a distorted temporal waveform and an un-flattened spectrum, but also severely degrade the coherence of the generated SC.

The optical-model approach has been used to investigate the electron-impact ionization of metastable rare-gas atoms. A complex equivalent-local polarization potential is obtained to describe the ionization continuum channels. We have calculated the cross sections for collisional ionization of the metastable atoms Ne＊ and Ar＊ by electrons in the energy range from threshold to 200 eV. The present results are in agreement with the available experimental measurements and other theoretical calculations.

In plants,glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase(GPDH)catalyzes the interconversion of glycerol-3-phosphate(G3P)and dihydroxyacetone phosphate(DHAP)coupled to the reduction/oxidation of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH)pool,and plays a central role in glycerolipid metabolism and stress *** studies have focused mainly on the NAD+-dependent GPDH isoforms,neglecting the role of flavin adenine dinucleotide(FAD)-dependent *** isolated and characterized three mitochondrialtargeted FAD-GPDHs in soybean,of which one isoform(GmGPDH12)showed a significant transcriptional response to NaCl and mannitol treatments,suggesting the existence of a major FAD-GPDH isoform acting in soybean responses to salt and osmotic *** enzyme kinetic assay showed that the purified GmGPDH12 protein possessed the capacity to oxidize G3P to DHAP in the presence of *** and RNA interference of GmGPDH12 in soybean hairy roots resulted in elevated tolerance and sensitivity to salt and osmotic stress,respectively.G3P contents were significantly lower in GmGPDH12-overexpressing hair roots and higher in knockdown hair roots,indicating that GmGPDH12 was essential for G3P catabolism.A significant perturbation in redox status of NADH,ascorbic acid(ASA)and glutathione(GSH)pools was observed in GmGPDH12-knockdown plants under stress *** impaired redox balance was manifested by higher reactive oxygen species generation and consequent cell damage or death;however,overexpressing plants showed the opposite results for these ***12 overexpression contributed to maintaining constant respiration rates under salt or osmotic stress by regulating mRNA levels of key mitochondrial respiratory *** study provides new evidence for the roles of mitochondria-localized GmGPDH12 in conferring resistance to salt or osmotic stress by maintaining cellular redox homeostasis,protecting cells and respiration from oxidative injury.

Although soil bacteria play critical roles in agro-ecosystems, the knowledge of their response to long-term fertilization across the black soil region of Northeast China is limited. In this study, we sequenced 16 S rRNA genes to assess the effects of four long-term fertilization regimes—non-fertilization(NoF), chemical fertilizer(CF), manure(M), and chemical fertilizer plus manure(CFM)—on soil properties and bacterial communities in three locations, the northern, middle, and southern parts, across the black soil region. Results showed that the influence of fertilization regimes on soil properties varied significantly among the three locations. Manure fertilization significantly increased microbial biomass carbon and relative abundance of copiotrophic bacteria. Principal component analysis(PCA)showed that the total bacterial communities were separated into three groups according to the sampling location despite long-term fertilization, and that soil pH was the most important factor in shifting bacterial communities. In addition, similar fertilization regimes resulted in different influences on bacterial community composition, and the most influential soil properties varied among the three locations. Our results highlighted that geographical separation was a more dominant factor affecting bacterial communities than fertilization, and that long-term similar fertilization regimes did not induce consistent changes in bacterial community composition in the black soil region.

A method to compute the numerical derivative of eigenvalues of parameterized crystal field Hamiltonian matrix is given, based on the numerical derivatives the general iteration methods such as Levenberg-Marquardt, Newton method, and so on, can be used to solve crystal field parameters by fitting to experimental energy levels. With the numerical eigenvalue derivative, a detailed iteration algorithm to compute crystal field parameters by fitting experimental energy levels has also been described. This method is used to compute the crystal parameters of Yb^3＋ in Sc2O3 crystal, which is prepared by a co-precipitation method and whose structure was refined by Rietveld method. By fitting on the parameters of a simple overlap model of crystal field, the results show that the new method can fit the crystal field energy splitting with fast convergence and good stability.

Stigmasterol is a plant sterol with anti-apoptotic,anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effect through multiple *** this study,we further assessed whether it exerts protective effect on human brain microvessel endothelial cells(HBMECs)against ischemia-reperfusion injury and explored the underlying *** were used to establish an in vitro oxygen and glucose deprivation/reperfusion(OGD/R)model,while a middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO)model of rats were *** interaction between stigmasterol and EPHA2 was detected by surface plasmon resonance(SPR)and cellular thermal shift assay(CETSA).The results showed that 10μmol·L−1 stigmasterol significantly protected cell viability,alleviated the loss of tight junction proteins and attenuated the blood-brain barrier(BBB)damage induced by OGD/R in the in vitro *** molecular docking showed that stigmasterol might interact with EPHA2 at multiple sites,including T692,a critical gatekeep residue of this *** ephrin-A1(an EPHA2 ligand)exacerbated OGD/R-induced EPHA2 phosphorylation at S897,facilitated ZO-1/claudin-5 loss,and promoted BBB leakage in vitro,which were significantly attenuated after stigmasterol *** rat MCAO model confirmed these protective effects in *** summary,these findings suggest that stigmasterol protects HBMECs against ischemia-reperfusion injury by maintaining cell viability,reducing the loss of tight junction proteins,and attenuating the BBB *** protective effects are at least meditated by its interaction with EPHA2 and inhibitory effect on EPHA2 phosphorylation.
