[Objectives]This study aimed to evaluate the quality of Bupleurum falcatum Linne interplanted with walnut in ganluo and study the development and utilization value of other parts.[Methods]The contents of saikosaponins a and d were determined with RP-HPLC,and the contents of 7 kinds of harmful elements were determined by *** quality of *** Linne was compared with that of other Bupleurum species.[Results]The total saikosaponin content in Radix Bupleurum Falcatum(15.894 mg/g)was higher than that in Radix Bupleuri of other origins(8.748 mg/g).The total saikosaponin content in leaves of *** Linne(7.518 mg/g)is more than twice the limit promulgated by Chinese *** contents of Al,Cr,Cu,As,Cd,Pb and Hg in *** Linne were all lower than the limits promulgated by the *** short, the quality of Radix Bupleurum Falcatum was better than that of Radix Bupleurum Marginatum(S3,S4)and Radix Bupleurum Sachalinense(S5).The leaves of *** Linne contained more saikosaponins and less harmful elements.[Conclusions]The method and technology of interplanting *** Linne with walnut in ganluo are *** quality of the medicinal materials produced is superior, and the leaves are also rich in saikosaponins a and d,and can be used as the raw material for extracting saikosaponins a and *** study provides a basis for further in-depth research on the cultivation of *** Linne in the domestic market.

AIM:To investigate the association of obesity and elevated alanine aminotransferase with insulin resistance and compare these factors with metabolic syndrome. METHODS:We enrolled a total of 1308 male workers aged from 22 to 63 *** was extracted from the workers'periodic health check-ups in *** cases were from the community of northern Taiwan. This was a cross-sectional observational study from July to September in *** grouped all cases into four groups, based on the quartile of homeostasis model *** top fourth quartile group was defined as the group with insulin *** performed multivariate logistic regression analysis for the odds ratio of the risk factors for insulin resistance. RESULTS:Compared with metabolic syndrome, the coexistence of both factors had a 4.3-fold(95%CI: 2.7-6.8)increased risk, which was more than metabolic syndrome with a 3.6-fold(95%CI:2.6-5.0)increased *** two factors had a synergistic *** synergistic index of obesity and elevated alanine aminotransferase(ALT)was 2.1(95%CI:1.01-4.3).CONCLUSION:Obesity and elevated ALT are associatedwith insulin *** effects are synergistic. Coexistence of them is better than metabolic syndrome in predicting insulin resistance.

An epidemiological comparative study on dietary patterns and poWlation means of blood pressure was undertaken in 10 groups (3 of workers, 6 of farmers, 1 of fishermen) of adult males and females of northeast, north, south, middle and east China. Standardized methods and record forms were used for blood pressure measurements and 24-hr dietary recall interviews. Simple correlation and linear regression, multiple regression (adjusted for age, sex and body mass index) and ridge regression were used to analyze the relationship of dietary electrolytes and animal protein to blood pressure. The results show a significant negative association of mean daily intake of Ca and animal protein with population mean blood pressure. Excluding the fishermen’s group, mean daily intake of Na showed significant positive association with both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The Chinese diet should probably be improved, increasing Ca and animal protein and cutting salt to a much lower level.
