Volumetric comparative analysis of anatomy through far-lateral approach:surgical space and exposed tissues

Background:The three-dimensional(3D)visualization model has ability to quantify the surgical anatomy of farlateral *** study was designed to disclose the relationship between surgical space and exposed tissues in the far-lateral approach by the volumetric analysis of 3D ***:The 3D skull base models were constructed using MRI and CT data of 15 patients(30 sides)with trigeminal *** corridors of the far-lateral approach were simulated by triangular pyramids to represent two surgical spaces exposing bony and neurovascular *** comparison of surgical anatomy was performed using pair t ***:The morphometric results were almost the same in the two surgical spaces except the vagus nerve(CN X)exposed only in one corridor,whereas the volumetric comparison represented the statistical significant differences of surgical space and bony and neurovascular tissues involved in the two corridors(P<0.001).The differences of bony and neurovascular tissues failed to equal the difference of surgical ***:For far-lateral approach,the increase of exposure for the bony and neurovascular tissues is not necessarily matched with the increase of surgical *** volumetric comparative analysis is helpful to provide more detailed anatomical information in the surgical design.

The Effects of PDTC plus Leflunomide and Cyclosporine on the NF-КB Signaling Pathway in Mouse-to-rat Cardiac Xenografts

In this study, the effects of pirrolidine dithiocarbamate （PDTC） plus leflunomide （Lef） and cyclosporine （CsA） on the NF-κB signaling pathway in mouse-to-rat cardiac xeno-transplantation models were investigated. NIH mice and Wistar rats served as donors and recipients respectively. Mouse-to-rat cardiac xenotransplantation was performed. The recipients were divided into 5 groups： group A （the control group）, group B （PDTC group）, group C （PDTC plus CsA group）, group D （PDTC plus Lef group） and group E （PDTC plus Lef and CsA group）. The expressions of IKKa/[3, NF-κB-P65, IκBct, ICAM-1 and NF-κB DNA binding activity in xenograft tissues were determined by immunohistochemistry and Western blot as well as electrophoretic mobility shift assay （EMSA）. The median survival time of cardiac xenografts in the control group, PDTC group, PDTC plus CsA group, PDTC plus Lef group and PDTC plus Lef and CsA group was （2.17±0.41）, （2.33±0.52）, （4.67±1.21）, （7.00±1.79） and （9.00±1.41） days respectively. The survival time of xenografts in the PDTC plus Lef and CsA group was significantly longer than that in other four groups （P〈0.05 for all）, that in the PDTC plus Lef group longer than that in the control group, PDTC group and PDTC plus CsA group （P〈0.05 for all）, that in PDTC plus CsA group longer than the control group and PDTC group （P〈0.05 for all）. The expressions of IKKα/β, NF-κB-P65, IκBα and ICAM-1 and NF-κ3 DNA binding activity were notably increased in mouse-to-rat cardiac xenografts. The expressions were decreased in the control group, PDTC group, PDTC plus CsA group, PDTC plus Lef and PDTC plus Lef and CsA group in turn. It was concluded that PDTC plus Lef and CsA can significantly suppress the expressions of IKKα/β, NF-κB-P65, IκBα, ICAM-1 and NF-κB DNA binding activity, thereby prolonging the survival of the cardiac xenografts.

Abdominal ventral rectopexy with colectomy for obstructed defecation syndrome:An alternative option for selected patients

Over the years,electroconductive hydrogels(ECHs)have been extensively applied for stimulating nerve regeneration and restoring locomotor function after peripheral nerve injury(PNI)with diabetes,given their favorable mechanical and electrical properties identical to endogenous nerve ***,PNI causes the loss of locomotor function and inflammatory pain,especially in diabetic *** has been established that bone marrow stem cells-derived exosomes(BMSCs-Exos)have analgesic,anti-inflammatory and tissue regeneration ***,we designed an ECH loaded with BMSCs-Exos(ECH-Exos)electroconductive nerve dressing to treat diabetic PNI to achieve functional recovery and pain *** its potent adhesive and self-healing properties,this laminar dressing is convenient for the treatment of damaged nerve fibers by automatically wrapping around them to form a size-matched tube-like structure,avoiding the cumbersome implantation *** in vitro studies showed that ECH-Exos could facilitate the attachment and migration of Schwann ***,Exos in this system could modulate M2 macrophage polarization via the NF-κB pathway,thereby attenuating inflammatory pain in diabetic ***,ECH-Exos enhanced myelinated axonal regeneration via the MEK/ERK pathway in vitro and in vivo,consequently ameliorating muscle denervation atrophy and further promoting functional *** findings suggest that the ECH-Exos system has huge prospects for nerve regeneration,functional restoration and pain relief in patients with diabetic PNI.
