Damage evolution and removal behaviors of GaN crystals involved in double-grits grinding

Elucidating the complex interactions between the work material and abrasives during grinding of gallium nitride(GaN)single crystals is an active and challenging research *** this study,molecular dynamics simulations were performed on double-grits interacted grinding of GaN crystals;and the grinding force,coefficient of friction,stress distribution,plastic damage behaviors,and abrasive damage were systematically *** results demonstrated that the interacted distance in both radial and transverse directions achieved better grinding quality than that in only one *** grinding force,grinding induced stress,subsurface damage depth,and abrasive wear increase as the transverse interacted distance ***,there was no clear correlation between the interaction distance and the number of atoms in the phase transition and dislocation *** interacted distances between abrasives can decrease grinding force,coefficient of friction,grinding induced stress,subsurface damage depth,and abrasive wear during the grinding *** results of grinding tests combined with cross-sectional transmission electron micrographs validated the simulated damage results,*** atoms,high-pressure phase transition,dislocations,stacking faults,and lattice *** results of this study will deepen our understanding of damage accumulation and material removal resulting from coupling between abrasives during grinding and can be used to develop a feasible approach to the wheel design of ordered abrasives.

Enhancing multifunctional photocatalysis with acetate-assisted cesium doping and unlocking the potential of Z-scheme solar water splitting

Graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))has been extensively doped with alkali metals to enlarge photocatalytic output,in which cesium(Cs)doping is predicted to be the most ***,the sluggish diffusion and doping kinetics of precursors with high melting points,along with imprecise regulation,have raised the debate on whether Cs doping could make *** this matter,we attempt to confirm the positive effects of Cs doping on multifunctional photocatalysis by first using cesium acetate with the character of easy *** optimized Csdoped g-C_(3)N_(4)(CCN)shows a 41.6-fold increase in visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)compared to pure g-C_(3)N_(4) and impressive degradation capability,especially with 77%refractory tetracycline and almost 100%rhodamine B degradedwithin an *** penetration ofCs+is demonstrated to be a mode of interlayer doping,and Cs–N bonds(especially with sp^(2) pyridine N in C═N–C),along with robust chemical interaction and electron exchange,are *** atomic configuration triggers the broadened spectral response,the improved charge migration,and the activated photocatalytic ***,we evaluate the CCN/cadmium sulfide hybrid as a Z-scheme configuration,promoting the visible HER yield to 9.02 mmol g^(−1) h^(−1),which is the highest ever reported among all CCN *** work adds to the rapidly expanding field of manipulation strategies and supports further development of mediating served for photocatalysis.

APOE and APOC1 gene polymorphisms are associated with cognitive impairment progression in Chinese patients with late-onset Alzheimer's disease

Current evidence shows that apolipoprotein E （APOE）, apolipoprotein CI （APOC1） and low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein （LRP） variations are related to late-onset Alzheimer＇s disease. However, it remains unclear if genetic polymorphisms in these genes are associated with cognitive decline in late-onset Alzheimer＇s disease patients. We performed a 30-month longitudi- nal cohort study to investigate the relationship between Alzheimer＇s disease and APOE, APOC1, and LRP. In this study, 78 Chinese Han patients with late-onset Alzheimer＇s disease were recruit- ed form Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China. APOE, APOC1, and LRP genotyping was performed using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphisms. The Mini-Mental State Examination and Clinical Dementia Rating Scale were used to assess pa- tients＇ cognitive function. After a 30-month follow-up period, we found a significant reduction in Mini-Mental State Examination total score, a higher proportion of patients fulfilling cognitive impairment progression criteria, and a higher proportion of APOC1 H2 carriers in APOE 4 carriers compared with non-carriers. In addition, the APOE 4 allele frequency was significantly higher in the cognitive impairment progression group compared with the non-cognitive im- pairment progression group. In conclusion, APOE e4 plays an important role in augmenting cognitive decline, and APOC1 H2 may act synergistically with APOE ~4 in increasing the risk of cognitive decline in Chinese patients with late-onset Alzheimer＇s disease.

Xuanwei area, in southwestern China,harbors the highest female lung cancer rate in the country(Supplementary Table 1) [1]. Epidemiological studies have shown that lung cancer incidence in Xuanwei area is associated with the use of different types of local coal for household cooking and heating [2]. The genomic landscape of Xuanwei female adenocarcinoma(XWFA), the most distinctive feature of lung cancer in Xuanwei, has yet to be elucidated systematically. Here,we provide the fundamental resource of genomic datasets for further exploration of XWFA molecular mechanisms and development of targetable therapy.

Provenance of colorless and brown volcanic glass in late Pleistocene tephra layers in the Western Philippine Sea

Tephra layers in the western Philippine Sea,characterized by abundant volcanic glass shards,may provide crucial evidence on the eruption history of volcanoes and tectonic evolution of the western Pacific.A 220-ka sediment core from the Benham Rise in the western Philippine Sea offers new insights into the provenance of four intercalated tephra layers(T1–T4,in chronological order)containing either colorless or brown glass *** to primitive mantle,all glass shards are enriched in large-ion lithophile elements,such as Rb,Cs,and Pb,and depleted in high field-strength elements,such as Th,Nb,and Ta,indicating a subduction-related *** colorless glass shards are characterized by high SiO_(2)(>78%)and light rare earth element(LREE)contents as well as high La/Sm ratios(>9),low FeO and MgO contents(100),pointing to a rhyolitic composition and a medium-K calc-alkaline serial *** contrast,the brown glass shards are characterized by lower SiO_(2)(<63%)and LREE contents,higher FeO,MgO,and CaO contents,lower La/Sm(<6)and Ba/Th(<75),and similar Sr/Y ratios(<15),indicating derivation from medium to high-K calc-alkaline andesite *** glass shards from layers T3(152 ka)and T4(172 ka)were correlated with volcanic deposits from the Taal and Laguna Caldera in the Maccolod Corridor,respectively,while the colorless glass shards from layers T1(36.5 ka)and T2(61.2 ka)were likely sourced from the Irosin Caldera in the Bicol *** the provenance of late Pleistocene tephra layers in the western Philippine Sea is helpful to complement a Philippine volcanic history and establish a regional tephrochronostratigraphy.

Objective:The aim of this study was to prospectively compare double-tract reconstruction(DTR)and esophagogastrostomy(EG)after proximal gastrectomy(PG)regarding the incidence of reflux esophagitis,quality of life(QOL),nutritional status and surgical ***:This study was a randomized controlled *** eligible for PG were enrolled and randomly assigned to the EG group and DTR *** characteristics of patients,parameters for surgical safety,incidence of reflux esophagitis,nutrition status and QOL were collected and compared between the two *** analysis and multivariate analysis were performed to determine the significant factors affecting the incidence of reflux esophagitis after ***:Thirty-seven patients of the EG group and 36 patients of the DTR group were *** incidence of reflux esophagitis was significantly lower in the DTR group than in the EG group(8.3%vs.32.4%,P=0.019).The DTR group demonstrated a more favorable QOL than the EG group after *** nutritional status was balanced within the EG group and the DTR *** operation time was longer in the DTR group than in the EG group(191 min vs.221 min,P=0.001),while surgical safety was similar in the two ***:Our research demonstrated that DTR is superior to EG after PG in terms of the incidence of reflux esophagitis and provides a more satisfactory QOL without increasing surgical complications or sacrificing nutritional status.

14-bit SAR ADC with On-Chip Digital Bubble Sorting Calibration Technology

This article designs a 14-bit successive approximation register analog-to-digital converter(SAR ADC).A novel digital bubble sorting calibration method is proposed and applied to eliminate the effect of capacitor mismatch on the linearity of the SAR ADC. To reduce the number of capacitors, a hybrid architecture of a high 8-bit binary-weighted capacitor array and a low 6-bit resistor array is adopted by the digital-to-analog(DAC). The common-mode voltage VCM-based switching scheme is chosen to reduce the switching energy and area of the DAC. The time-domain comparator is employed to obtain lower power consumption. Sampling is performed through a gate voltage bootstrapped switch to reduce the nonlinear errors introduced when sampling the input signal. Moreover, the SAR logic and the whole calibration is totally implemented on-chip through digital integrated circuit(IC) tools such as Design Compiler, IC compiler, etc. Finally, a prototype is designed and implemented using 0.18 μm Bipolar-complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS)-double-diffused MOS 1.8 V CMOS technology. The measurement results show that the SAR ADC with on-chip bubble sorting calibration method achieves the signal-to-noise-and-distortion ratio of 69.75 dB and the spurious-free dynamic range of 83.77 dB.

With the rapid growth of urbanization and the increasing demand for transportation, urban traffic congestion has become a hindrance to individuals’ travel experience. Urban intersections are one of the primary sources of traffic congestion, and these bottlenecks have a negative impact not only on traffic efficacy but also on the surrounding road traffic in the region. To alleviate urban traffic congestion, cyber-physical systems have been widely implemented in the transportation industry, allowing for the perception, analysis, calculation, and dispatching of urban traffic flow, as well as making urban transportation safe, efficient, and quick. As the system scale and functions increase, system design has become increasingly complex, necessitating a deeper comprehension of the system’s structure and interaction relationships to construct a stable and reliable system. Therefore, this study proposes a method for designing cyber-physical systems for urban traffic intersections based on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). This method models and analyses exhaustively the system’s requirements, functions, and logical architecture using System Modeling Language (SysML). After the architecture design has been completed, an architecture verification and optimization method based on Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) for urban road intersection cyber-physical systems is utilized to analyze the architecture’s reliability by analyzing the failure modes of activities and to optimize the system architecture to improve the design’s efficiency and reliability.
