The investigation by sEM/TEM, porosity, and X-ray diffraction measurements of the graphitization process starting from amorphous carbon nanospheres, prepared by glucose carbonization, is reported. Aspects studied are the annealing temperature in the 750–1000 °C range, the type of inert carrier gas, and time of treatment in the 2–6 h range. It is investigated how these parameters influence the structural and morphological characteristics of the carbon materials obtained as well as their nanostructure. It is shown that it is possible to maintain after graphitization the round-shaped macro morphology, a high surface area and porosity, and especially a large structural disorder in the graphitic layers stacking, with the presence of rather small ordered domains. These are characteristics interesting for various catalytic applications. The key in obtaining these characteristics is the thermal treatment in a flow of N2. It was demonstrated that the use of He rather than N2 does not allow obtaining the same results. The effect is attributed to the presence of traces of oxygen, enough to create the presence of oxygen functional groups on the surface temperatures higher than 750 °C, when graphitization occurs. These oxygen functional groups favor the graphitization process.

Determining the suitable fish farming conditions for optimal growth is necessary for aquaculture production, but it is not very obvious because it requires a good understanding of species biology. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the effects of different temperature regimes, stocking densities, and feeding rates on the growth of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus fingerlings that have been sex-reversed with 17α methyl testosterone. Three independent experiments were performed (with replicates) at the IrD Bel-Air fish farm (Dakar, senegal) on 27-day-old fry maintained in six 25 l tanks with a batch of 100 individuals each. These fry were subjected to three different temperatures (26˚C, 28˚C, 30˚C;kept constant with thermostats), stocking densities (5, 10 and 15 ind/l) and feeding rates (5%, 10% and 15% of biomass;distributed three times a day). For the temperature and density treatments, fry was fed a pelleted feed containing 38% protein, distributed by hand at 10% of their total biomass, readjusted after each measurement. Growth performance (total weight, weight gain and daily weight gain), physicochemical parameters (temperature, oxygen, nitrite and phosphorus), feed conversion ratio (FCr) and survival rate (sr) were regularly monitored (weekly) during the experimental period. For the heat treatment, the results did not show an apparent relationship between growth performance and nitrite, phosphorus or dissolved oxygen (DO) contents. In contrast, there was a significant correlation between temperature and growth rates, with the best growth being obtained at 30˚C compared to 28˚C and 26˚C. similarly, growth rates were correlated with stocking density and feeding rate but not with oxygen, temperature, nitrite or phosphorus levels. The best growth rates were observed at the lowest density (5 ind/l) and for the highest feeding rate (15% of biomass), which coincides with the best FCr and survival rates. The commercial viability of lithium-sulfur batteries is still challenged by the notorious lithium polysulfides(li Pss)shuttle effect on the sulfur cathode and uncontrollable li dendrites growth on the li ***,a bi-service host with Co-Fe binary-metal selenide quantum dots embedded in three-dimensional inverse opal structured nitrogen-doped carbon skeleton(3DIO FCse-QDs@NC)is elaborately designed for both sulfur cathode and li metal *** highly dispersed FCse-QDs with superb adsorptive-catalytic properties can effectively immobilize the soluble li Pss and improve diffusion-conversion kinetics to mitigate the polysulfide-shutting ***,the 3D-ordered porous networks integrated with abundant lithophilic sites can accomplish uniform li deposition and homogeneous li-ion flux for suppressing the growth of *** advantage of these merits,the assembled li-s full batteries with 3DIO FCse-QDs@NC host exhibit excellent rate performance and stable cycling ability(a low decay rate of 0.014%over 2,000 cycles at 2C).remarkably,a promising areal capacity of 8.41 mAh cm^(-2)can be achieved at the sulfur loading up to 8.50 mg cm^(-2)with an ultra-low electrolyte/sulfur ratio of 4.1μl mg^(-1).This work paves the bi-serve host design from systematic experimental and theoretical analysis,which provides a viable avenue to solve the challenges of both sulfur and li electrodes for practical li-s full batteries.

This study evaluates the performance of shale from Ivory Coast used as substrate in vertical-flow constructed wetlands in removal of phosphates and nitrogen. The pilot-scale artificial wetland has been duplicated: filter planted with Panicum maximun and unplanted. They were set up outdoors, and fed with a municipal wastewater. The wetlands have been fed with three batches per week (intermittent) over a period of 3 months. During the operation period, the hydraulic residence time (HrT) 52 h was used, while wastewater temperatures varied from about ~33°C. The removal performance of the constructed wetland units was very good, since it reached on an average 98%, 89.4%, 89.4%, 84%, 80%, 84.8% and 92% for Tss, DOC, BODsub>5sub>, , TKN, TP and respectively. In addition, the vegetation did not demonstrate superior performance to unplanted controls. Therefore, this study focuses on the role of shale in the phosphorus and nitrogen removal from wastewater by constructed wetland.

An exopolysaccharide substances produced by Vibrio neocaledonicus sp. was introduced as a novel green inhibitor against the corrosion of carbon steel in artificial seawater and acidic media. The produced extracellular polymeric substance（EPs） is heterogeneous with composition of polysaccharides, nucleic acids and protein and average molecular weight of 29,572 Da. Adsorption of EPs on the metal surfaces and formation of Fe-EPs complexes acted as a barrier to prevent the oxygen penetration and hindered anodic and cathodic reactions. The inhibitory effect increases with increasing EPs concentration and exposure time. The highest corrosion inhibitory effect（95.1%） was observed for 10 g/l of EPs after 5 days of exposure in seawater. This is the highest inhibitory effect ever been reported by EPss. While, the optimum concentration of EPs with the highest inhibition efficiency in 1 N H;sO;was 1000 ppm. The influence of different parameters, such as initial pH, growth phase, various nitrogen and carbon sources on the production of EPs and its corrosion inhibitory effect were also investigated. According to results,the optimum culture medium for EPs production is contained artificial seawater including 5% mannitol as carbon source and 0.1%（NH;）;sO;as nitrogen source at pH = 8. This medium could produce 22.24 g/l EPs during 3 days’ incubation at 30 ℃. The corrosion inhibitory efficiency of obtained EPs was 95.97%.

Endogenous and exogenous uncertainties exert significant influences on energy planning. In this study,we propose a systematic methodology to excavate the uncertainty space, by combining mix-integer linearprogramming (MIlP), Monte Carlo simulation, and machine learning for quantification of the uncertaintyimpacts on a national-level energy system from global and local perspectives. This approach allows in-depthcorrelation analysis highlighting potential synergies and risks in the energy transition, and can be easily applie for assisting policy making. The case study for switzerland shows that both carbon neutrality (even negativeemissions) and energy autonomy can be achieved by 2050, but the energy system’s configuration variessignificantly under uncertainty. Through conditional distribution analyses, carbon capture and storage (CCs),Photovoltaic (PV), and wood gasification show the most strong correlation for decarbonization. This study isbased on the whole uncertainty space taking into account heterogeneous uncertainties, leading to increasedreliability compared to sensitivity analysis from single scenarios’ comparisons. The synergy between energymodels and artificial intelligence (AI) is promising to be widely applied in energy planning area, particularlyfor emerging technologies with large uncertainty in development.
