Regression analysis of squeezing-induced hybrid nanofluid flow in Darcy-Forchheimer porous medium

This article presents a mathematical model addressing a scenario involving a hybrid nanofluid flow between two infinite parallel plates. One plate remains stationary, while the other moves downward at a squeezing velocity. The space between these plates contains a Darcy-Forchheimer porous medium. A mixture of water-based fluid with gold(Au) and silicon dioxide(Si O2) nanoparticles is formulated. In contrast to the conventional Fourier's heat flux equation, this study employs the Cattaneo-Christov heat flux equation. A uniform magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the flow direction, invoking magnetohydrodynamic(MHD) effects. Further, the model accounts for Joule heating, which is the heat generated when an electric current passes through the fluid. The problem is solved via NDSolve in MATHEMATICA. Numerical and statistical analyses are conducted to provide insights into the behavior of the nanomaterials between the parallel plates with respect to the flow, energy transport, and skin *** findings of this study have potential applications in enhancing cooling systems and optimizing thermal management strategies. It is observed that the squeezing motion generates additional pressure gradients within the fluid, which enhances the flow rate but reduces the frictional drag. Consequently, the fluid is pushed more vigorously between the plates, increasing the flow velocity. As the fluid experiences higher flow rates due to the increased squeezing effect, it spends less time in the region between the plates. The thermal relaxation, however, abruptly changes the temperature, leading to a decrease in the temperature fluctuations.

The Study of Knowledge-sharing Practices of Chinese Universities from the Perspective of Cross-Cultural Communication

With the increasing globalization and international communication,numerous overseas students and visiting scholars study and exchange knowledge in Chinese *** confront the challenge of how to effectively deal with the knowledge sharing in a cross- cultural setting. The purpose of the study is to examine knowledge sharing in Chinese universities in the cross-communication setting. First,the concepts of cross-cultural communication and knowledge sharing are briefly introduced. The paper explores the internal and external factors affecting knowledge sharing in Chinese universities. The findings show the strategies of knowledge sharing that should be employed,including promoting mutual trust,establishing knowledge sharing culture,the incentive and rewards system and the ShareNet platform.

Visual Translations： Medicine, Art, China and the West

In the history of medicine, relatively little attention has been paid to the way medical illustration circulated globally---or to the issues raised by the cultural ＂translation＂ of such images. My goal here is to flesh out some of the history of this circulation and translation by exploring the aesthetic and medical connections be- tween two specific anatomical collections, both housed at the Gordon Pathology Museum at Guy＇s Hospital, London. The Joseph Towne collection of anatomical waxes and the Lam Qua paintings of the patients of medical missionary Peter Parker were both produced in the nineteenth century. Significantly, the two collections were part of related but culturally specific shifts in the way bodies （and diseased bodies） were viewed, represented, understood and treated. I explore some of the convergences and divergences between Western and Chinese medical and artistic priorities and will address some of the issues raised by them. These two collections are important, I argue, because they demonstrate how aesthetic considerations shape medical knowledge and wider attitudes about the human body.

A Cognitive Analysis of the Cantonese Motion-Directional Construction and its Implications for Translation

This article aims at providing an analysis of the Cantonese Motion-Directional Construction within a broad framework of cognitive linguistics and how it is relevant to translation. The analysis is different from others in that it applies the cognitive constructional approach to Cantonese. It discusses examples of the argument structure of the Cantonese Motion-Directional Construction and demonstrates the strategies of our approach. In particular, we propose the Catenative Analysis of the Motion-Directional Construction and argue that the Construction signals conceptual subordination, which illustrates the event structure of the Construction. Furthermore, we consider the relationship of translation between Cantonese and english in realizing this Construction.

A Case Study of Inter-sentence Conjunctions in Chinese/english Legal Parallel Texts

The present study is a contrastive study of inter-sentence conjunctions in Chinese/english legal parallel texts. Conjunction is one of the five cohesive devices put forward by Halliday and Hasan (1976). Many scholars have applied their model of cohesion to the study of english and Chinese languages. As for the use of conjunction in Chinese and english, most scholars believe that there are more cases of conjunction in the english legal texts than in the Chinese ones because it is generally considered that Chinese is predominantly paratactic and english mainly hypotactic. Besides, up to now little detailed contrastive study has been done on conjunctions in Chinese/english non-literary texts.

Mapping the small-world properties of brain networks in Chinese to english simultaneous interpreting by using functional near-infrared spectroscopy

The aim of this study is to examine the small-world properties of functional brain networks inChinese to english simultaneous interpreting(SI)using functional near-infrared spectroscopy(INIRS),In particular,the fNIRS neuroimaging combined with complex network analysis wasperformed to extract the features of functional brain networks underling three translationstrategies associated with Chinese to english SI:"transcoding"that takes the"shortcut"linkingtranslation equivalents between Chinese and the english,code-mixing"that basically does notinvolve blingual procesing,and"transphrasingn that takes the long route"involving amonolingual processing of meaning in Chinese and then another monolingual processing ofmeaning in *** results demonstrated that the small-world net work topology was able todistinguish well bet ween the transcoding,code-mixing and transphrasing strategies related toChinese to english SI.

Using critical thinking activities as tools to integrate language skills

Every day communication is an event in which there is an interactional relationship between interlocutors. This interaction needs whole language in which language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing; associated knowledge of vocabulary, meaning, syntax, etc.; and also, thinking skills are interwoven. This means that language should be kept whole and ＂if language isn＇t kept whole, it isn＇t language anymore＂（Rigg, 1991, p. 522, cited in Richards ＆ Rodgers, 2001, p. 109）. In english as a Second Language/english Foreign Language （ESL/EFL） learning settings, improvement in one skill can affect the development of other skills. A particular course may highlight certain skills, but if the teacher is creative or specific tasks and problems are used in language learning settings, learners are provided with the opportunity to improve multiple, integrated skills. This paper aims at elaborating on critical thinking approach to language learning and introducing practical ideas for helping teachers to integrate language and thinking skills. It introduces 3 critical thinking activities （Dialogue journals, reading logs and literacy portfolios）, and also discusses how implementing them can serves as a way to integrate language skills. It also maintains that engaging learners in these activities helps them use authentic materials and solve problems of their own interest that in turn has a positive effect on student＇s motivation.
