Experimental Study on Latent Heat Storage Characteristics of W/O Emulsion by Ultrasonic Wave Impression

The flowable latent heat storage material like Oil/Water type emulsion, microencapsulated latent heat material-water mixture or ice slurry, etc., is enabled to transport the latent heat in a pipe. Supercooling phenomenon of the dispersed latent heat storage material in continuous phase is obstructed by a latent heat storage. The latent heat storage rates of dispersed waterdrops in W/O (Water/Oil) emulsion are investigated experimentally in this study. The waterdrops in emulsion have the diameter within 3 - 25 μm, the averaged diameter of waterdrops is 7.3 μm and the standard deviation is 2.9 μm. Supercooling release of waterdrops in emulsion is examined by short time impressing of the ultrasonic. The direct contact heat exchange method is chosen as the phase change rate evaluation of waterdrops in W/O emulsion. The supercooled temperature is set as parameters of this study. The previous obtained experimental result, as the condition without impressing ultrasonic wave, showed that the 35 K or more degree from melting point brings 100% latent heat storage rate of W/O emulsion. It is clarified that it is possible to reduce 20 K of supercooling degree by impressing the ultrasonic.

Statistical predictions are useful to predict events based on statistical models.The data is useful to determine outcomes based on inputs and calculations.The Crow-AMSAA method will be explored to predict new cases of Coronavirus 19(COVID19).This method is currently used within engineering reliability design to predict failures and evaluate the reliability growth.The author intents to use this model to predict the COVID19 cases by using daily reported data from Michigan,New York City,U.S.A and other countries.The piece wise Crow-AMSAA(CA)model fits the data very well for the infected cases and deaths at different phases during the start of the COVID19 outbreak.The slope b of the Crow-AMSAA line indicates the speed of the transmission or death rate.The traditional epidemiological model is based on the exponential distribution,but the Crow-AMSAA is the Non Homogeneous Poisson Process(NHPP)which can be used to modeling the complex problem like COVID19,especially when the various mitigation strategies such as social distance,isolation and locking down were implemented by the government at different places.

Beef and mutton production has been aided by breeding to integrate allelic diversity for myostatin(MSTN),but a lack of diversity in the MSTN germplasm has limited similar advances in pig farming.Moreover,insurmountable challenges with congenital lameness and a dearth of data about the impacts of feed conversion,reproduction,and meat quality in MSTN-edited pigs have also currently blocked progress.Here,in a largest-to-date evaluation of multiple MSTN-edited pig populations,we demonstrated a practical alternative edit-site-based solution that overcomes the major production obstacle of hindlimb weakness.We also provide long-term and multidomain datasets for multiple breeds that illustrate how MSTN-editing can sustainably inc.ease the yields of breed-specific lean meat and the levels of desirable lipids without deleteriously affecting feed-conversion rates or litter size.Apart from establishing a new benchmark for the data scale and quality of genome-edited animal production,our study specifically illustrates how gene-editing site selection profoundly impacts the phenotypic outcomes in diverse genetic back-grounds.

Fatigue Crack Arrest in Mild Steel via Iron Electroplating

In this work, electrochemical plating treatments were applied to ASTM A36 steel specimens to study the efficiency and limitations of this method for arresting fatigue crack propagation. Electroplated iron was deposited onto the crack surfaces using a circuit in which Swedish Iron served as the anode in a solution of Ammonium Iron(II) Sulfate Hexahydrate. The iron ions were driven into fatigue cracks that were formed within ASTM E399 compact tension specimens. This work showed that an iron-plating treatment operated at 20°C can arrest fatigue crack propagation for a significant period of cycles. The propagation re-initiation lives that resulted ranged from 11,000 to 230,000 cycles. As observed in prior work, the propagation re-initiation life correlated strongly to the magnitude of the stress intensity factor range that was applied during cycling. As this stress intensity inc.eased, the propagation re-initiation life decreased. Repeated treatments on the same crack provided extended service lives by as much as 370,000 cycles or 60% of the entire fatigue life of the component. Future work may show that re-application of the treatment, when conducted prior to crack re-initiation, could further extend the service life indefinitely. The Correia crack closure model was modified to provide an empirical expression for predicting the crack re-initiation life of the treated component. Interestingly, highly effective arrest behavior was still observed for cracks that were loaded to stress intensity factors of only 3 - 6 edit_f69af9cd-e908-4aef-8ccb-3b1f36e16d08.png" alt="" />during the treatment but then subjected to 20 edit_5ddb9cae-23ad-442d-8e6c-63b5e1d99a0f.png" alt="" /> during cyclic loading. Galvanic corrosion of the plated material exposed to simulated seawater was estimated to be 3 mpy. Future work will examine the use of less active plating alloys and the possibility of applying effective treatments into cracks that are in an unloaded state.
