Intimate hygiene practices and reproductive tract infections: A systematic review

Introduction:Worldwide,women perform a variety of vaginal practices to enhance their intimate hygiene and sexual ***:To conduct a systematic review to assess the different kinds of intimate hygiene practices and their association with reproductive tract infections and ***:PubMed,Medline and The Cochrane Library were *** observational and interventional studies targeting the urogenital infections and their association with hygiene practices were *** criteria included studies that assessed the knowledge and attitudes towards intimate hygiene practices rather than their relation to *** design of this systematic review complied with the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis(PRISMA).Results:Fifteen articles were *** practices were found to be associated with reproductive tract *** absorbent material used during menstruation increased the risk of Candida infection with an adjusted proportional reported ratio(aPRR)of 1.54(95%CI 1.2–2.0),but no association with bacterial vaginosis or trichomonas vaginalis infection was *** or vaginal washing during menstruation with water only showed a higher association with symptoms of urogenital infections when compared with washing with both soap and water during *** reusable pads inside the house and storing them inside the toilet was found to be associated with a higher candida infection ***,bathing in sitting position during menstruation,not drying the genital area or using cloth for drying it,and not paying attention to hand washing,were all associated with a higher risk of genital ***,postpartum use of native homemade vaginal preparations might be a risk factor for ascending vaginal infections,and the use of inappropriate material for menstrual blood absorption was associated with secondary ***:Several hygiene pract

The potential of neural transplantation for brain repair and regeneration following traumatic brain injury

Traumatic brain injury is a major health problem worldwide. Currently, there is no effective treatment to improve neural structural repair and functional recovery of patients in the clinic. Cell transplantation is a potential strategy to repair and regenerate the injured brain. This review article summarized recent development in cell transplantation studies for post-traumatic brain injury brain repair with varying types of cell sources. It also discussed the potential of neural transplantation to repair/promote recovery of the injured brain following traumatic brain injury.

Lithium niobate on insulator(LNOI)has become an intriguing platform for integrated photonics for applications in communications,microwave photonics,and ***,integrated devices including modulators,resonators,and lasers with high performance have been recently realized on the LNOI platform,high-speed photodetectors,an essential building block in photonic integrated circuits,have not been demonstrated on LNOI ***,we demonstrate for the first time,heterogeneously integrated modified uni-traveling carrier photodiodes on LNOI with a record-high bandwidth of 80 GHz and a responsivity of 0.6 A/W at a 1550-nm *** photodiodes are based on an n-down In GaAs/InP epitaxial layer structure that was optimized for high carrier transit time-limited *** integration was achieved using a scalable wafer die bonding approach that is fully compatible with the LNOI platform.

Seismic behavior of multiple reinforcement,high-strength concrete columns:experimental and theoretical analysis

This study investigates the seismic performance of multiple reinforcement,high-strength concrete(MRHSC)columns that are characterized by multiple transverse and longitudinal reinforcements in core *** MRHSC columns were designed and subjected to a low cycle,reversed loading *** response,including the failure modes,hysteretic behavior,lateral bearing capacity,and displacement ductility,was *** effects of the axial compression ratio,stirrup form,and stirrup spacing of the central reinforcement configuration on the seismic performance of the columns were ***,an analytical model was developed to predict the backbone force-displacement curves of the MRHSC *** test results showed that these columns experienced two failure modes:shear failure and flexure-shear *** the axial compression ratio increased,the bearing capacity increased significantly,whereas the deformation capacity and ductility decreased.A decrease in the spacing of central transverse reinforcements improved the ductility and delayed the degradation of load-bearing *** proposed analytical model can accurately predict the lateral force and deformations of MRHSC columns.

Docking MOF crystals on graphene support for highly selective electrocatalytic peroxide production

Tailoring the reaction kinetics is the central theme of designer electrocatalysts,which enables the selective conversion of abundant and inert atmospheric species into useful *** we show a supporting effect in tuning the electrocatalytic kinetics of oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)from four-electron to two-electron mechanism by docking metalloporphyrin-based metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)crystals on graphene support,leading to highly selective peroxide production with faradaic efficiency as high as 93.4%.A magic angle of 38.1°tilting for the co-facial alignment was uncovered by electron diffraction tomography,which is attributed to the maximization of n-n interaction for mitigating the lattice and symmetry mismatch between MOF and *** facilitated electron migration and oxygen chemisorption could be ascribed to the supportive effect of graphene that disperses of the electron state of the active center,and ultimately regulates rate-determining step.

Gene fusions have long been considered hallmarks of *** into characterization of their prevalence,cause,and function have provided significant progress toward improvements in diagnosis,prognosis assessment,and treatment of numerous *** recently,detection of intergenically spliced chimeric RNAs in cancer has spurred efforts to characterize these transcripts,anticipating similar successes in translation to the *** of chimeric RNAs in normal cells,especially those which precede canonical translocations such as PAX3-F0X01 and JAZF1-JJAZ1,suggests that these physiologically regulated transcripts may function as proto-oncogenic factors,in that their dysregulation can lead to cancer *** findings have given rise to conjecture regarding chimeric RNAguided rearrangements giving rise to fusion genes,termed the cart-before-the-horse ***,we provide context for the relationship between gene fusions,chimeric RNAs,and cancer;assemble evidence in support of the cart-before-the-horse hypothesis;and discuss potential advantages of targeting chimeric RNAs in cancer treatment.

A Machine Learning-Based Distributed Denial of Service Detection Approach for Early Warning in Internet Exchange Points

The Internet service provider(ISP)is the heart of any country’s Internet infrastructure and plays an important role in connecting to theWorld *** exchange point(IXP)allows the interconnection of two or more separate network *** Internet traffic entering a country should pass through its ***,it is an ideal location for performing malicious traffic *** denial of service(DDoS)attacks are becoming a more serious daily *** actors in DDoS attacks control numerous infected machines known as *** are used to send numerous fake requests to overwhelm the resources of victims and make them unavailable for some *** date,such attacks present a major devastating security threat on the *** paper proposes an effective and efficient machine learning(ML)-based DDoS detection approach for the early warning and protection of the Saudi Arabia Internet exchange point(SAIXP)*** effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach are verified by selecting an accurate ML method with a small number of input features.A chi-square method is used for feature selection because it is easier to compute than other methods,and it does not require any assumption about feature distribution *** ML methods are assessed using holdout and 10-fold tests on a public large-size *** experiments showed that the performance of the decision tree(DT)classifier achieved a high accuracy result(99.98%)with a small number of features(10 features).The experimental results confirmthe applicability of using DT and chi-square for DDoS detection and early warning in SAIXP.

In this work,a field-applicable,simple method for quick detecting chlorogenic acid(CGA)was *** method is based on CGA’s antioxidant *** is reported to reduce a mixture solution of FeCl_(3)/K_(3)Fe(CN)_(6)to generate Fe_(4)[Fe(CN)_(6)]_(3),the Prussian blue,in an aqueous *** reaction was adopted in this work by using solid-ink printed annuli on a filter-paper as reaction *** reagent is pre-loaded and dried within the solid ink printed *** a field test,a drop of a sample solution is directly applied to a reagent-loaded *** reaction product within the circle shows a blue color,which is detected by using an iPad(or cellphone)camera as a detector and a light-emitting diode flashlight lamp as a light source.A freely available RGB colorimeter program from Apple store was used to read light intensity of three colors:red,green,blue,and absorbance signal of red and blue light is *** difference of absorbance signal of red light from that of blue light was found having linear relationship with CGA concentration in an aqueous sample *** simple method is sensitive with a detection limit of 1.0μg/mL for CGA in sample *** technique was used to analyze CGA concentration in green coffee extract,and the analytical results agree well with that obtained using a UV/Vis absorption spectrometric *** real sample test results demonstrate the usefulness of this simple method for quick detecting CGA in green coffee extract products in field test applications.
