MA-IgA antibody was positive in 96.8% of the pretreatment NPC patients with a GMT of 1:36.3. MA-IgA detection by this method was more sensitive than EA-IgA detection by IE. In contrast patients with tumors other than NPC were negative for MA-IgA antibody. 9.1% of VCA-IgA positive persons were MA-IgA positive with a GMT of less than 1:5. No MA-IgA positive was found in VCA-IgA negatives. The results indicated that this method was relatively specific. In the treatment group the positive rate and GMT of MA-IgA antibody declined with increase in survival time and the decline was faster than VCA-IgA. When recurrence or distant metastasis developed similar to VCA-IgA and EA-IgA antibodies the positive rate and GMT of MA-IgA antibody increased to its pretreatment level. Therefore MA-IgA detection might be valuable in the early diagnosis and monitor of NPC.

With gene engineering eb virus membrane antigen as the diagnostic antigen, indirect immunofluo-rescence (IF) assay was used to detect IgA antibody against eb virus membrane antigen (MA-IgA) in sera from 202 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients and 315 controls (normal and patients with other tumors). It is reasonable to come to the conclusion that most of the NPC cells can not only harbour EBV DNA but some of them be able to express EA-R. Some non-NPC neoplasms being demonstrated BAE-5 posttlvlty may be due to the presence of EBV EA- R antigenic epitope or polypeptides simulating the structure of EA-R. The authors think that these findings have theoretical significance for understanding the role of EBV- encoded poiypeptides especially EA complex In the development and progression of NPC as well as some non- NPC neoplasms harbouring EBV-DNA.

The session initiation protocol （SIP） is used as the signaling protocol in the IP multimedia subsystem （IMS） and the signaling is becoming computing intensive comparing to the current telecommunication network. The SIP is a text-based protocol with characteristics of unordered and verbose headers, variable-size message, and case-insensitive keyword. It imposes challenges for an efficient message processing. The property of SIP elements being able to process SIP messages quickly is critical for the performance of IMS networks. This article investigates the performance of SIP message processed in SIP servers, mainly focusing on improving message parsing by introducing a method named selective parsing for SIP message （SP4SIP）. By modeling and analyzing a SIP server with a tandem Jackson network, it is concluded that parsing messages is the bottleneck of a SIP server performance, i.e., it is the most processing intensive activity in the system. To validate the approach, it has been implemented in a high-performance SIP server in the authors＇ lab. The results show that selective parsing for SIP message can indeed reduce processing time.

France is a country with 67 million inhabitants and is part of the European *** consumption in humans is higher in France as compared to the European average,especially in outpatient settings(1–2).The burden of antibiotic resistance is also high,as compared to the European average,with an estimated 5,500 deaths per year associated with multidrug-resistant bacterial infections(3).Encouraging results have,however,been observed over the last several years:antibiotic consumption in the community,in nursing homes and in hospitals showed a decreasing trend,as well as certain resistant bacteria,such as 3rd-generation cephalosporin-or fluoroquinolone-resistant Escherichia coli(1–2,4–5).The COVID-19 pandemic has had a dramatic impact on antibiotic consumption and its long-term impact on antibiotic resistance is being carefully monitored(1).

Programmed cell death （PCD） is an important and universal process regulating precise death of unwanted cells in eukaryotes. In plants, the existence of PCD has been firmly established for about a decade, and many components shown to be involved in apoptosis/PCD in mammalian systems are found in plant cells undergoing PCD. Here, we review work from our lab demonstrating the involvement of PCD in the self-incompatibility response in Papaver rhoeas pollen. This utilization of PCD as a consequence of a specific pollen-pistil interaction provides a very neat way to destroy unwanted ＇self＇, but not ＇non-self＇ pollen. We discuss recent data providing evidence for SI-induced activation of several caspase-like activities and suggest that an acidification of the cytosol may be a key turning point in the activation of caspase-like proteases executing PCD. We also review data showing the involvement of the actin and microtubule cytoskeletons as well as that of a MAPK in signalling to caspase-mediated PCD. Potential links between these various components in signalling to PCD are discussed. Together, this begins to build a picture of PCD in a single cell system, triggered by a receptor-ligand interaction.

Forecasting exchange rate is undoubtedly an attractive and challenging issue that has been of interest in different domains for many years. The singular spectrum analysis (SSA) technique has been used as a promising technique for time series forecasting including exchange rate series. The SSA technique is based upon two main choices: Window length, L, and the number of singular values, r. These values are very important for the reconstruction stage and forecasting purposes. Here the authors consider an optimum version of the SSA technique for forecasting exchange rates. The forecasting performances of the SSA technique for one-step-ahead forecast of six exchange rate series are used to find the best L and r.
