Dapsone(DDS),Rifampicin(RIF) and Ofloxacin(OFL) are drugs recommended by the World Health Organization(WHO) for the treatment of *** the context of leprosy,resistance to these drugs occurs mainly due to mutations in the target genes(Folp1,RpoB and GyrA).It is important to monitor antimicrobial resistance in patients with ***,we performed a meta-analysis of drug resistance in Mycobacterium leprae and the mutational profile of the target *** this paper,we limited the study period to May 2022 and searched PubMed,Web of Science(WOS),Scopus,and Embase databases for identified *** independent reviewers extracted the study *** and drug-resistance rates were estimated in Stata *** results demonstrated that the drug-resistance rate was 10.18%(95% CI:7.85–12.51).Subgroup analysis showed the highest resistance rate was in the Western Pacific region(17.05%,95% CI:1.80 to 13.78),and it was higher after 2009 than before [(11.39%,7.46–15.33) vs.6.59%(3.66–9.53)].We can conclude that the rate among new cases(7.25%,95% CI:4.65–9.84) was lower than the relapsed(14.26%,95 CI%:9.82–18.71).Mutation rates of Folp1,RpoB and GyrA were 4.40%(95% CI:3.02–5.77),3.66%(95% CI:2.41–4.90) and 1.28%(95% CI:0.87–1.71) respectively,while the rate for polygenes mutation was1.73%(0.83–2.63).For further analysis,we used 368 drug-resistant strains as research subjects and found that codons(Ser,Pro,Ala) on RpoB,Folp1 and GyrA are the most common mutation sites in the determining region(DRDR).In addition,the most common substitution patterns of Folp1,RpoB,and GyrA are Pro→Leu,Ser→Leu,and Ala→*** study found that a higher proportion of patients has developed resistance to these drugs,and the rate has increased since 2009,which continue to pose a challenge to *** addition,the amino acid alterations in the sequence of the DRDR regions and the substitution patterns mentioned in the study also provide new ideas for clinical treatment options.

Infectivity of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome during Its Incubation Period

Objective To evaluate the infectivity of severe acute respiratory syndrome （SARS） during its incubation period by investigating chains of transmission and individuals isolated for medical observation with a view to providing scientific evidence for updating protocols of medical isolation. Methods Individuals related with the two SARS chains of transmission in Beijing in 2003 and a group of individuals isolated for medical observation in Haidian district of Beijing during the SARS outbreak were selected as subjects of study. Contactors with SARS patients and those with symptom development following the contacts were investigated via questionnaire. Serum samples were collected from super transmitters and tested for SARS-CoV antibody by neutralization test and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA）. Results A total of 1 112 contactors were investigated in three surveys. Of them, 669 had a history of close contact with symptomatic SARS patients, 101 developed symptoms with a rate of 15.1%, 363 had a history of close contact with patients in their incubation period, none of whom developed symptoms （0%）. Serum samples were collected fi＇om 32 highly-exposed individuals, of whom 13 developing SARS symptoms atter contact had serum samples positive for SARS-CoV antibody. Samples collected from the asymptomatic contactors were all negative for SARS-CoV antibody. Conclusion SARS cases are infectious only during their symptomatic period and are non-infectious during the incubation period. Isolation for medical observation should be placed for individuals who are in close contact with symptomatic SARS patients. The results of our study are of decisive significance for the Ministry of Health to the definition of SARS close contactor.

In October 2017,a small outbreak of echovirus 30(E30)associated with aseptic meningitis in nine cases occurred at a primary school in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous *** year,we observed a significant increase in E30 levels in an acute flaccid paralysis(AFP)case surveillance *** investigate their phylogenetic relationships,we determined the whole genomic sequences of 12 strains isolated from aseptic meningitis cases,AFP cases,and healthy *** found that the E30 strains circulating in Ningxia belong to two lineages(H and J).The strains isolated in 2010,2012,and 2016 belonged to the H *** 2017,a new lineage,J,emerged as the dominant *** trees were constructed based on the whole genome andP1,P2,andP3 regions;clustering with other types of enterovirus species B was found,suggesting that recombination events had *** recombination sites were mainly in regions2B,2C,*** study confirmed that the E30 strains in Ningxia in 2010,2012,and 2016 had different recombination patterns and were recombined with different *** 2017 epidemic E30 originated from another new lineage with a complex recombination pattern and formed an independent transmission chain in Ningxia.
