Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is an aggressive tumor that usually occurs in patients with chronic liver disease and *** resection is an optimal treatment for HCC,but the 5-year recurrence rates are significantly *** majority of recurrent HCCs occur through intrahepatic metastasis with local tumor progression,and less than 20%of recurrences are extrahepatic *** with gastric metastasis is extremely rare,and it is easily misdiagnosed as primary gastric cancer with liver *** 80-yearold male chronic hepatitis B virus carrier had received lamivudine and entecavir for years and was regularly followed up in the *** had a 3.5 cm solitary HCC with microvascular invasion and received curative surgical resection in *** 2013,he developed a 1.3 cm solitary HCC again and was treated with combination therapy with radiofrequency ablation and pure ethanol ***,he was followed every 3–6 months and was *** years later,in 2016,endoscopy for intermittent epigastralgia showed a solitary 4 cm intraluminal gastric subepithelial tumor without mucosal ulcers or erosions over the gastric *** imaging studies,including computed tomography,favored the diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST),but the pathology of the tumor proved to be *** patient did not receive any systemic anticancer therapy but only wedge resection of the stomach and remained tumor-and HCC-free until his latest clinic visit in *** current case is unique and indicates the possibility of HCC with late solitary gastric metastasis mimicking *** gastric tumor resection ensured an extremely good outcome for the patient,which is different from the devastating prognosis of most cases of HCC with gastric metastasis.

MicroRNAs （miRNAs） represent a class of small non-coding RNA molecules that play a crucial role in post- transcriptional gene regulation. Several conserved and species-specific miRNAs have been characterized to date, predominantly from the plant species whose genome is well characterized. However, information on the variability of these regulatory RNAs in economically important but genetically less characterized crop species are limited. Vigna mungo is an important grain legume, which is grown primarily for its protein-rich edible seeds, miRNAs from this species have not been identified to date due to lack of genome sequence information. To identify miRNAs from V. mungo, a small RNA library was constructed from young leaves. High- throughput IIlumina sequencing technology and bioinformat- ic analysis of the small RNA reads led to the identification of 66 miRNA loci represented by 45 conserved miRNAs belonging to 19 families and eight non-conserved miRNAs belonging to seven families. Besides, 13 novel miRNA candidates in V. mungo were also identified. Expressior patterns of selected conserved, non-conserved, and nove miRNA candidates have been demonstrated in leaf, stem, ant root tissues by quantitative polymerase chain reaction, ant potential target genes were predicted for most of the conserved miRNAs. This information offers genomic resour ces for better understanding of miRNA mediated post transcriptional gene regulation.

AIM: To investigate the differentiation status and key factors to facilitate hepatic differentiation of human bone-marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). METHODS: Human MSCs derived from bone marrow were induced into hepatocyte-like cells following a previously published protocol. The differentiation status of the hepatocyte-like cells was compared with various human hepatoma cell lines. Overexpression of hepatocyte nuclear factor (HNF)-4α was mediated by adenovirus infection of these hepatocyte-like cells. The expression of interesting genes was then examined by either re-verse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or real-time RT-PCR methods. RESULTS: Our results demonstrated that the differentiation status of hepatocyte-like cells induced from human MSCs was relatively similar to poorly differentiated human hepatoma cell lines. Interestingly, the HNF-4 isoform in induced MSCs and poorly differentiated human hepatoma cell lines was identified as HNF4γ instead of HNF-4α. Overexpression of HNF-4α in induced MSCs significantly enhanced the expression level of hepatic-specific genes, liver-enriched transcription factors, and cytochrome P450 (P450) genes. CONCLUSION: Overexpression of HNF-4α improves the hepatic differentiation of human MSCs from bone marrow and is a simple way of providing better cell sources for clinical applications.

Epinephrine is often used for the treatment of patients with heart failure, low cardiac output and cardiac arrest. It can acutely improve hemodynamic parameters; however, it does not seem to improve longer term clinical outcomes. Therefore, we hypothesized that epinephrine may induce unfavorable changes in gene expression of cardiomyocyte. Thus, we investigated effects of epinephrine exposure on the mediation or modulation of gene expression of cultured cardiomyocytes at a genome-wide scale. Our investigation revealed that exposure of cardiomyocytes to epinephrine in an in vitro environment can up-regulate the expression ofangiopoietin-2 gene （~ 2.1 times）, and down-regulate the gene expression of neuregulin 1 （-3.7 times）, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 （-2.4 times） and SPARC-related modular calcium-binding protein-2 （-4.5 times）. These changes suggest that epinephrine exposure may induce inhibition of angiogenesis-related gene expressions in cultured rat cardiomyocytes. The precise clinical significance of these changes in gene expression, which was induced by epinephrine exposure, warrants further experimental and clinical investigations.
