Analysis of TORCH results of retinal exudative changes in neonates

AIM:To explore the relationship between retinal exudative changes in neonates and perinatal toxoplasmosis,others,rubella,cytomegalovirus,and herpes simplex virus(TORCH)infections,as well as the characteristics of TORCH infection in neonates with retinal exudative ***:Retrospective study.A total of 612 neonates with retinal exudative changes detected during ophthalmic screening in our hospital from May 2019 to March 2023 were *** tests were performed on these neonates,and the results were subjected to statistical analysis to determine the infection *** neonates with retinal exudative changes were grouped by sex and age,the characteristics of TORCH infection were analyzed,and the positive rates were ***:Among the 612 neonates with retinal exudative changes,the highest positive rate was observed for cytomegalovirus(CMV-IgG)(96.7%),followed by rubella virus(RV-IgG)(73.9%).Mixed infections with two or three viruses were also observed,with the highest positive rate for mixed infection of RV-IgG and CMV-IgG reaching 71.2%.There was no statistically significant difference in TORCH infection among neonates of different sex(P>0.05).However,there were statistically significant differences in RV-IgG and CMV-IgM infections with retinal exudative changes among neonates of different age groups(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Perinatal TORCH infection may be an important factor causing retinal exudative changes in *** differences in various infections are not related to sex but are related to different age groups.

Background:During Enterovirus type 71(EV71)infection,the structural viral protein 1(VP1)activates endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress associated with peripheral myelin protein 22(PMP22)accumulation and induces ***,the speciﬁc mechanism behind this process remains ***:In this research,we used the VP1-overexpressing mouse Schwann cells(SCs)models co-transfected with a PMP22 silencing or Autocrine motility factor receptor(AMFR/gp78)overexpressing vector to explore the regulation of gp78 on PMP22 and its relationship with autophagy and ***:The activity of gp78 could be inﬂuenced by EV71-VP1,leading to a decrease in the ubiquitination and degradation of PMP22,resulting in PMP22 accumulation in *** VP1-overexpressing mouse SCs,all three ER stress sensors,including pancreatic endoplasmic reticulum kinase(PERK),activating transcription factor 6(ATF6)and inositol-requiring enzyme 1(IRE1)and the related downstream signals(C/EBP-homologous protein(CHOP)and Caspase 12)were activated,as well as the ER-resident chaperone Glucose-regulated protein 78(GRP78).In addition,VP1 upregulated the autophagy marker Microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 beta(LC3B),while PMP22 silencing or gp78 overexpression reversed the ***,PMP22 silencing or gp78 overexpression increased proliferation of EV71-VP1-transfected mouse ***:Gp78 could regulate PMP22 accumulation through ubiquitination degradation and cause ER stress and autophagy in EV71-VP1-overexpressing mouse ***,the gp78/PMP22/ER stress axis might emerge as a promising therapeutic target for myelin and neuronal damage induced by EV71 infection.

This study aimed to investigate the pollution characteristics, source apportionment, and health risks associated with trace metal(loid)s(TMs) in the major agricultural producing areas in Chongqing, China. We analyzed the source apportionment and assessed the health risk of TMs in agricultural soils by using positive matrix factorization(PMF) model and health risk assessment(HRA) model based on Monte Carlo simulation. Meanwhile, we combined PMF and HRA models to explore the health risks of TMs in agricultural soils by different pollution sources to determine the priority control factors. Results showed that the average contents of cadmium(Cd), arsenic (As), lead(Pb), chromium(Cr), copper(Cu), nickel(Ni), and zinc(Zn) in the soil were found to be 0.26, 5.93, 27.14, 61.32, 23.81, 32.45, and 78.65 mg/kg, respectively. Spatial analysis and source apportionment analysis revealed that urban and industrial sources, agricultural sources, and natural sources accounted for 33.0%, 27.7%, and 39.3% of TM accumulation in the soil, respectively. In the HRA model based on Monte Carlo simulation, noncarcinogenic risks were deemed negligible(hazard index children compared to adults. The relationship between TMs, their sources, and health risks indicated that urban and industrial sources were primarily associated with As, contributing to 75.1% of carcinogenic risks and 55.7% of non-carcinogenic risks, making them the primary control factors. Meanwhile, agricultural sources were primarily linked to Cd and Pb, contributing to 13.1% of carcinogenic risks and 21.8% of non-carcinogenic risks, designating them as secondary control factors.

BACKGROUND Hormone replacement therapy is an effective treatment strategy for the management of symptoms in naturally menopausal ***,some patients report experiencing adverse *** To analyze the effects of hormone replacement therapy in menopausal female *** A total of 152 menopausal female patients admitted to the Gynecology department of the Ganzhou Maternal and Child health Hospital between January 2021 and December 2023 were divided into the observation group(n=76,conventional treatment+hormone replacement therapy)and the control group(n=76,conventional treatment only)via random *** improvement observed in the following items were compared between the groups:Kupperman menopausal index(KMI),emotional state[The Positive and Negative Affect Scale(PANAS)],sleep quality[Self-Rating Scale of Sleep(SRSS)],treatment effectiveness,and treatment *** The modified KMI and SRSS scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group after three rounds of *** improvement in the PANAS score observed in the observation group was greater than that observed in the control group(P<0.05).The total treatment effectivity rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(86.84%vs 96.05%,χ2=4.121,P=0.042).The incidence rate of adverse reactions in the two groups was comparable(6.58%vs 9.21%,χ2=0.361,P=0.547).CONCLUSION Hormone replacement therapy effectively improved the clinical symptoms,actively channeled negative emotions,and improved the quality of sleep in menopausal patients,indicating its effectiveness and safety.

Necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC)is a devastating gastrointestinal disease over decades,which,however,remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in preterm infants.^([1])Although multiple factors,including gastrointestinal tract bacterial colonization,immaturity,and formula feeding,are reported to be involved in the pathogenesis of NEC,the precise mechanisms are not well *** to the advances in metagenomic sequencing,ample evidences have illustrated the presence of gut dysbacteriosis in infants with NEC,which is characterized by an elevated abundance of Proteobacteria,reduced abundance of Firmicutes phyla,and an overall decrease in bacterial diversity,providing novel insights into NEC progression.^([1,2])Additionally,the bacterial replication rates,particularly those of Enterobacteriaceae,rapidly increase two days prior to NEC diagnosis.^([2])
