Background:Following initiation of China’s National Malaria Elimination Action Plan(NMEAP)in 2010,the'1-3-7’approach was developed and rolled out in China to facilitate the malaria elimination programme and accelerate malaria *** study aims to summarize and condense these experiences through a retrospective analysis in Jiangsu Province,which could be adapted and applied in other malaria elimination settings ***:A retrospective analysis of imported malaria cases into China identified through an improved surveillance and response system in Jiangsu Province was carried out for the period of *** improve the malaria surveillance and response system,Centers for Diseases control and Prevention from the prefectures and counties in Jiangsu province conducted population-level health education to improve healthcare seeking behavior,strengthened capacity of health facilities to improve performance of malaria diagnosis and treatment,and raised the capacity of public health providers to improve implementation of the'1-3-7’*** variables were carried out by Chi square tests with Fisher’s exact ***:From 2001 to 2020,a total of 9,879 malaria cases were reported in Jiangsu *** 2012,no indigenous malaria cases have been reported in Jiangsu ***,in recent years,there has been a substantial increase of imported falciparum malaria *** 2012 and 2020,an estimated 61.57 million individuals have benefited from population-level health education in Jiangsu *** healthcare-seeking services among the 2,423 imported malaria cases,687(28.4%)and 1,104(45.6%)cases visited hospitals on the first day and the second day from symptom onset,respectively.A total of 1,502(61.9%)cases were diagnosed on the first day at medical *** Province achieved 100%,99.4%and 98.3%completion rate in terms of case detection and notification(within one day),case investigation(within three days)and foci

Comparative study of chloroquine and quinine on malaria rodents and their effects on the mouse testis

Objective:To conducted a spatial analysis for stratification of priority malaria control areas in Kahnuj County,as part of field ***:Information of health Centers of Kahnuj County has been used for stratification retrospectively.A knowledge,attitudes and practices(KAP) study was arranged to provide preliminary information about the knowledge,attitude and practice related to malaria in the ***:Numbers of malaria cases has been decreased in year *** were five important vectors of malaria in this region including:Anopheles stephensi (***),Anopheles dthali(***).Anopheles superpictus(***),Anophels culicifacies(***),and Anopheles Jluviatilis(***),but majority of malaria cases in this county was related to Plasmodium vivax(***).Educational levels of community were 38% ,20% ,10% and 32% for illiterate,primary,secondary and university levels,respectively. Astrodaucus persicus as a new source of bioinsectisides against malaria vector, Anopheles stephensi

Objective: To determine the larvicidal activities of petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol fractions of roots and fruits extracts of Astrodaucus persicus from Apiaceae family against malaria vector, Anopheles stephensi(An. stephensi).Methods: Twenty five third instar larvae of An. stephensi were exposed to various concentrations(10–160 g/L) of fractions and were assayed according to World health Organization protocol. The larval mortality was calculated after 24 h ***: Among tested fractions, the highest larvicidal efficacy was observed from ethyl acetate fraction of fruits extract with 50% and 90% mortality values(LC_(50) and LC_(90)) of34.49 g/L and 108.61 g/L, respectively. Chloroform fraction of fruits extract was the second larvicidal sample with LC_(50) of 45.11 g/L and LC_(90) of 139.36 g/L. Petroleum ether fractions of fruits and roots and methanol fraction of fruits showed moderate toxicity against An. ***: Astrodaucus persicus is a potential source of valuable and natural larvicidal compounds against malaria vector, An. stephensi and can be used in mosquitoes control programs as an alternative to synthetic insecticides.

Evaluation of bioefficacy ofα-cypermethrin in long lasting impregnated net(Interceptor~) using analytical method

GC-MS analysis and anti-mosquito activities of Juniperus virginiana essential oil against Anopheles stephensi(Diptera: Culicidae)

Objective: To investigate phytochemicals present in the essential oil from aerial parts of eastern red cedar, Juniperus virginiana(J. virginiana) L.(Cupressaceae) and to determine its killing and repellent activities against larvae, pupae, and adults of the Asian malaria mosquito, Anopheles stephensi(Diptera: Culicidae). Methods: J. virginiana essential oil was extracted by hydrodistillation, and its chemical composition was determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Seven different logarithmic concentrations of J. virginiana essential oils were used in larvicidal and pupicidal assays. J. virginiana essential oils-impregnated bed nets were applied in a designed animal module to test excito-repellent activity against adult mosquitoes. Results: Fourteen constituents corresponding to 99.98% of J. virginiana essential oils were identified. Five main components were terpinen-4-ol(25.21%), camphor(19.89%), E-3-hexen-1-ol(13.30%), γ-terpinene(7.86%), and l-menthone(2.27%). The LC_(50) and LC_(90) values against larvae of the Anopheles stephensi were 11.693 and 66.140 ppm and for pupae were 9.640 and 40.976 ppm, respectively. In excito-repellency assay, J. virginiana essential oilsimpregnated bed nets provided an average of 54.63% protection for guinea pig and 45.37% mortality for the mosquitoes. Conclusions: Four monoterpenes and one leaf alcohol were identified by gas chromatographymass spectrometry. J. virginiana essential oils showed potent larvicidal, pupicidal, adulticidal, and repellent activities against Anopheles stephensi at acceptable concentrations. Evaluation of bioactivity of identified chemicals(alone or in combination) will provide new eco-friendly substances for mosquito-management programs.

Some ecological attributes of malarial vector Anopheles superpictus Grassi in endemic foci in southeastern Iran

Phlebotomus(Adlerius) kabulensis(Diptera: Psychodidae) a new record sand fly species from Iran: Morphological and molecular aspects

Distribution and ecological aspects of sand flies(Diptera:Psychodidae) species in Northeastern Iran

Objective:To determine both the distribution and the ecological characteristics of sand flies in Golestan Province,northeast of Iran in ***:In this study,34 villages were selected based on their geographical *** paper traps were used for collecting the sand *** was carried out in each of villages from May to *** each village,60 traps for indoors and 60 for outdoors were monthly *** species of all collected sand flies were determined using approved morphological *** coefficient correlation was used to find the relationship between the number of collected Phlebotomus papatasi from different villages and incidence rate of zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis as well as the number of positive cases of the *** altitude of the studied villages was extracted from digital elevation model of the area using GIS and vegetation cover density index of the province was extracted from Modis satellite imagery and distribution map of sand flies drown ***:Overall,5 428 sand flies were collected and identified,belonging to 18 *** wenyoni was reported for the first time from the area in this *** frequency of sand flies in the villages located in northeast of the Golestan province(the plateau area,lower altitude,arid and semi-arid climates,and lower vegetation cover density),were more than other villages in this *** was a significant correlation between the number of collected Phlebotomus papatasi and incidence rate of the zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis cases in different villages(r=0.837,P=0.019) as well as the number of positive cases of the disease(r=0.688,P<0.001).Conclusions:In the northeaster areas of Golestan Province which is known as the endemic foci of zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis,the abundance of sand flies were more and the conditions for their growth and development were more appropriate.

Molecular characterization of sandflies and Leishmania detection in main vector of zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis in Abarkouh district of Yazd province,Iran

Ohjective:To assess molecular characterization,distribution,seasonal activities of sandfly species and Leishmania parasites infecting them for this zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis ***:The collections were carried out in 2009-2011 using CDC traps,Sticky Papers and manual aspirator in and around the villages in Abarkouh *** sandflies were characterized by PCR amplification and sequencing of fragments of their mitochondrial cytochrome b *** parasite infections within sandflies were performed by targeting Cyt b,ITS-rDNA,k-DNA and microsatellite ***:The PCR assays detected only Leishmania major(***).All infections(30)were found in the abundant and widespread vector Phlebolomus papalasi(***).Small numbers of other sandfly species were also screened for infections,but none was *** sinloni and *** were the predominant members in all locations of this district and in all habitats throughout the trapping *** five other sandfly species were found,namely Phlebolomus ansari,Phlebotomus caucasicus,Phlebotomus sergenti,Sergentomyia dentata and Sergentomyia ***:In the current survey,the only infections detected are of *** in females of ***(30 out of190).The rates of infection of *** by *** are not significantly different in compare with other locations in Iran with no diversity of parasite *** cutaneous leishmaniasis may have emerged only recently in Abarkouh district,and the reason may well be the instability of the transmission cycles there.
