Praziquantel (PZQ), a widely-used antis- chistosomal drug, has stimulated a number of laboratory and clinical investigations in China, results of which are not widely disseminated in English. Recent investigations on the effect of PZQ against Schistosoma jap onicum were reviewed hereby in order to exchange academic ideas and promote further researches on antischistosomal drugs.

Hepatitis B virus （HBV）-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes （CTLs） are believed to play a major role in viral clearance and disease pathogenesis during HBV infection. To clarify the differences in host immune responses between self-limited and chronic HBV infections, we constructed three HLA-A＊0201/HBV tetramers with immunodominant epitopes of core18-27, polymerase 575-583 and envelope 335-343, and analyzed the HBV-specific CTLs in peripheral blood mononuclear cells （PBMCs） from patients infected with HBV. The frequencies and expansion ability of HBV-specific CD8＋T cells in most self-limited HBV infected individuals were higher than those in chronic HBV-infected patients. HBV-specific CD8＋T cells could be induced by in vitro peptide stimulation from chronic patients with a low level of serum HBV-DNA but not from those with a high level of serum HBV-DNA. In chronic infection, no significant correlation was found either between the frequencies of HBV-specific CD8^＋ T cells and the viral load, or between the frequencies and the levels of alanine transaminase. Our results suggested that the frequencies of HBV-specific CTLs are not the main determinant of immune-mediated protection in chronic HBV infection and immunotherapeutic approaches should be aimed at not only boosting a HBV-specific CD8^＋T response but also improving its function.

Despite extensive eforts,COVID-19 pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus is still at *** is an eftive approach to curb virus spread,but several variants(***,delta plus,omicron,and IHU)appear to weaken or possibly escape immune ***,novel and quickly scalable approaches to restrain SARS-CoV-2 are urgently *** evidences showed thermal sensitivity of SARS-CoV-2 and negative correlation between environmental temperature and COVID-19 transmission with unknown *** reveal a potential mechanism by which mild heat treatment destabilizes the wild-type RNA-dependent RNA polymerase(also known a nonstructural protein 12(NSP12))of SARS-CoV-2 as well as the P323L mutant commonly found in SARS-CoV-2 variants,including omicron and ***,heat treatment promotes E3 ubiquitin ligase ZNF598-dependent NSP12 ubiquitination leading to proteasomal degradation and significantly decreases SARS-CoV-2 RNA copy number and viral titer.A mild daily heat Ireatment maintains low levels of both wild-type and P323L mutant of NSP12,sugesting clinical ***',this novel mechanism,heat-induced NSP12 degradation,suggests a prospective heat-based intervention against SARS-CoV-2.

Objective:To determine the significance of temperature,rainfall and humidity in the seasonal abundance of Anopheles stephensi in southern ***:Data on the monthly abundance of Anopheles stephensi larvae and adults were gathered from earlier studies conducted between 2002 and 2019 in malaria prone areas of southeastern *** data for the studied counties were obtained from climatology *** estimating equations method was used for cluster correlation of data for each study site in different ***:A significant relationship was found between monthly density of adult and larvae of Anopheles stephensi and precipitation,max temperature and mean temperature,both with simple and multiple generalized estimating equations analysis(P<0.05).But when analysis was done with one month lag,only relationship between monthly density of adults and larvae of Anopheles stephensi and max temperature was significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:This study provides a basis for developing multivariate time series models,which can be used to develop improved appropriate epidemic prediction systems for these ***-term entomological study in the studied sites by expert teams is recommended to compare the abundance of malaria vectors in the different areas and their association with climatic variables.

In this review,we introduce some chip-based waveguide biosensing and imaging techniques,which significantly reduce the complexity of the entire *** techniques use a well-confined evanescent field to interact with the surrounding materials and achieve high sensitivity sensing and high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)super-resolution *** fabrication process of these chips is simple and compatible with conventional semiconductor fabrication methods,allowing high-yield *** with recently developed chip-based light sources,these techniques offer the possibility of biosensing and super-resolution imaging based on integrated circuits.

Aim:The study aimed to investigate the short-term outcomes of hospitalized patients with chronic liver disease(CLDs)and assess the prognostic impact of predisposition and precipitants,which currently remains ***:The study included 3970 hospitalized patients with CLDs from two prospective longitudinal multicenter studies(NCT02457637 and NCT03641872)conducted in highly endemic hepatitis B virus(HBV)*** risk analysis was used to evaluate the effect of predispositions,including the etiology and severity of CLDs and precipitants;on sequential 28,90,and 365-day liver transplantation(LT)-free ***:Among all enrolled patients,76.8%of adverse outcomes(including death and LT)within one year occurred within 90 *** with alcoholic etiology,the association of HBV etiology with poorer outcomes was remarkably on the 28th day(hazard ratio[HR],1.81;95%confidence interval[CI],1.07-3.06;p=0.026);however,and dimin-ished or became insignificant at 90 days and 365 *** increased the adjusted risk for 365-day(HR,1.50;CI,1.13-1.99;p=0.004)LT-free mortality when compared with *** patients with cirrhosis,prior decompensation(PD)independently increased the adjusted risk of 365-day LT-free mortality by 1.25-fold(p=0.021);however,it did not increase the risk for 90-day *** the category nor the number of precipitants influenced the adjusted risk of 28 or 90-day LT-free ***:The 90-day outcome should be considered a significant endpoint for evaluating the short-term prognosis of hospitalized patients with *** factors,other than etiology,mainly affected the delayed(365-day)*** effective therapy for CLD etiology,especially antiviral treatments for HBV,and post-discharge long-term surveillance monitoring in cirrhotic patients undergoing PD are suggested to enhance disease management and reduce mortality.
