Arcobacter is an emerging foodborne pathogen *** this study,the prevalence,antimicrobial susceptibility and genetic characteristics of Arcobacter from different sources were *** *** isolates were obtained from 60 raw chicken meat samples(16/60,27%)and 150 patients with diarrhea(2/150,1.3%).The resistance ratios to nalidixic acid,ciprofloxacin,clindamycin,chloramphenicol,and florfenicol were 83.33%(15/18),38.89%(7/18),38.89%(7/18),33.33%(6/18)and 33.33%(6/18),*** performed whole genome sequencing of the 18 isolates,and we predicted antibiotic resistance genes and virulence factors by using assembled genomes through blastx *** resistance genes,blaOXA-464 and tet(H),and the C254T mutation in gyrA,were identified in the genomes of some resistant ***,virulence genes,such as flgG,flhA,flhB,fliI,fliP,motA,cadF,cjl349,ciaB,mviN,pldA and tlyA,were found in all strains,whereas hecA,hecB and iroE were found in only some *** tree analysis of *** isolates on the basis of the core-genome single nucleotide polymorphisms showed that two isolates from patients with diarrhea clustered together,separately from the isolates from raw chicken and the chicken *** study is the first comprehensive analysis of Arcobacter isolated in Beijing.

Objective This study aimed to assess the association of waist circumference(WC)with all-cause mortality among Chinese *** The baseline data were from Shanxi Province of 2002 China Nutrition and Health *** death investigation and follow-up visit were conducted from December 2015 to March *** visits covered up to 5,360 of 7,007 participants,representing a response rate of 76.5%.The Cox regression model and floating absolute risk were used to estimate hazard ratio and 95%floating CI of death by gender and age groups(≥60 and<60 years old).Sensitivity analysis was performed by excluding current smokers;participants with stroke,hypertension,and diabetes;participants who accidentally died;and participants who died during the first 2 years of *** This study followed 67,129 person-years for 12.5 years on average,including 615 *** mortality density was 916 per 100,000 *** WC was associated with all-cause mortality among ***-adjusted hazard ratios(HR)were 1.60(1.35–1.90)for WC<75.0 cm and 1.40(1.11–1.76)for WC ranging from 75.0 cm to 79.9 *** WC(<70.0 cm and 70.0–74.9 cm)and high WC(≥95.0 cm)groups had a high risk of mortality among *** adjusted HRs of death were 1.43(1.11–1.83),1.39(1.05–1.84),and 1.91(1.13–3.22).Conclusion WC was an important predictor of death independent of body mass index(BMI).WC should be used as a simple rapid screening and predictive indicator of the risk of death.

DNA polymerase delta is encoded by the POLD1 gene,the transcription of which is strictly cell ***,the means by which POLD1 transcription is regulated by the cell cycle mechanism is currently *** discovered a novel element in the POLD1 promoter known as a CDE(cell cycle-dependent element)/CHR(cell cycle gene homology region) element.A series of luciferase reporter constructs containing various POLD1 promoter mutations were used to investigate the role of the CDE/CHR element in POLD1 *** the CDE/CHR element was mutated,the promoter activity was up-regulated,and the cell-cycle related factors E2F1 and p21 stopped regulating the ***,cell cycle-dependent changes in the promoter activity required the integrative CDE/CHR *** mobility shift assay(EMSA) revealed the presence of at least three types of DNA/protein complexes binding to the CDE/CHR *** findings provide strong evidence that the CDE/CHR-like sequence is an active functional element in the POLD1 promoter,which is important for the cell cycle regulation of the POLD1 gene.

Objective To investigate the genotypic diversity of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) isolated from pigs and retail foods from different geographical areas in China and further to study the routes and rates of transmission of this pathogen from animals to food. Methods Seventy-one MRSA isolates were obtained from pigs and retail foods and then characterized by multi-locus sequencing typing(MLST), spa typing, multiple-locus variable number of tandem repeat analysis(MLVA), pulsed-field gel electrophoresis(PFGE), and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Results All isolated MRSA exhibited multi-drug resistance(MDR). Greater diversity was found in food-associated MRSA(7 STs, 8 spa types, and 10 MLVA patterns) compared to pig-associated MRSA(3 STs, 1 spa type, and 6 MLVA patterns). PFGE patterns were more diverse for pig-associated MRSA than those of food-associated isolates(40 vs. 11 pulse types). Among the pig-associated isolates, CC9-ST9-t899-MC2236 was the most prevalent clone(96.4%), and CC9-ST9-t437-MC621(20.0%) was the predominant clone among the food-associated isolates. The CC9-ST9 isolates showed significantly higher antimicrobial resistance than other clones. Interestingly, CC398-ST398-t034 clone was identified from both pig-and food-associated isolates. Of note, some community-and hospital-associated MRSA strains(t030, t172, t1244, and t4549) were also identified as food-associated isolates. Conclusion CC9-ST9-t899-MC2236-MDR was the most predominant clone in pigs, but significant genetic diversity was observed in food-associated MRSA. Our results demonstrate the great need for improved surveillance of MRSA in livestock and food and effective prevention strategies to limit MDR-MRSA infections in China.
