Organophosphates(OPs)are an integral part of modern agriculture;however,due to overexploitation,OPs pesticides residues are leaching and accumulating in the soil,and groundwater contaminated terrestrial and aquatic food *** exposure to OPs could produce toxicity in insects,plants,animals,and *** are known for covalent inhibition of acetylcholinesterase enzyme in pests and terrestrial/aquatic organisms,leading to nervous,respiratory,reproductive,and hepatic *** pesticides also disrupt the growth-promoting machinery in plants by inhibiting key enzymes,permeability,and trans-cuticular diffusion,which is crucial for plant *** use of OPs,directly/indirectly affecting human/environmental health,raise a thoughtful global *** a safe,reliable,economical,and eco-friendly methods for removing OPs pesticides from the environment is thus *** techniques coupled with microbes or microbial-biocatalysts are emerging as promising antidotes for OPs ***,we comprehensively review the current scenario of OPs pollution,their toxicity(at a molecular level),and the recent advancements in biotechnology(modified biocatalytic systems)for detection,decontamination,and bioremediation of OP-pesticides in polluted ***,the review focuses on onsite applications of OPs degrading enzymes(immobilizations/biosensors/others),and it also highlights remaining challenges with future approaches.

Cosmic acceleration with bulk viscosity in an anisotropic f(R, Lm) background

In this article,we investigate the observed cosmic acceleration in the framework of a cosmological f(R,Lm)model dominated by bulk viscous matter in an anisotropic *** consider the locally rotationally symmetric Bianchi type I metric and derive the Friedmann equations that drive the gravitational interactions in f((R,Lm)***,we assume the functional form f(R,Lm)=R/2+Lαm,where a is a free model parameter,and then find the exact solutions of field equations corresponding to our viscous matter dominated *** incorporate the updated H(z)data and the Pantheon data to acquire the best-fit values of parameters of our model by utilizing theχ2 minimization technique along with the Markov Chain Monte Carlo random sampling ***,we present the behavior of physical parameters that describe the Universe’s evolution phase,such as density,effective pressure and EoS parameters,skewness parameter,and the statefinder diagnostic *** find that the energy density indicates expected positive behavior,whereas the negative behavior of bulk viscous pressure contributes to the Universe’s *** effective EoS parameter favors the accelerating phase of the Universe’s ***,the skewness parameter shows the anisotropic nature of spacetime during the entire evolution phase of the ***,from the statefinder diagnostic test,we found that our cosmological f(R,Lm)model lies in the quintessence region,and it behaves like a de-Sitter universe in the far *** analyze different energy conditions in order to test the consistency of the obtained *** find that all energy conditions except strong energy condition(SEC)show positive behavior,while the violation of SEC favors the recently observed acceleration with the transition from decelerated to an accelerated epoch of the Universe’s expansion in the recent past.

Prevalence of Strongyloides stercoralis and other intestinal parasitic infections among mentally retarded residents in central institution of southern Iran

Objective:To determine the prevalence of intestinal parasitic infections among mentally retarded residents of rehabilitation center of Bandar Abbas,Hormozgan province,southern ***:A cross-sectional study was carried out in central rehabilitation institute of Hormozgan province in summer *** samples of all 133 residents(72 males,61 females)aged 3-52,were collected in *** were examined by direct smear,formalin-ether concentration techniques and stained by permanent Trichrome,Ziehl-Neelsen *** analysis was conducted by SPSS ***:Intestinal parasitic infections were seen in 48.5%(64 out of 133 subjects:53.4%in males and 46.6%in females).Strongyloides stercoralis with17.3%showed the highest incidence followed by Entamoeba coli(9.8%),Blastocystis hominis(7.5%),Giardia lamblia(2.3%),Endolimax nana(2.3%),Hymenolepis nana(0.8%),Oxyuris vermicularis(0.8%),and Chilomasix mesnili(0.8%).Double infections were found to be as:Strongyloides stercoralis+Giardia lamblia(2.3%),Entamoeba coli+Giardia lamblia(1.5%),Entamoeba coli+Blastocystis hominis(1.5%),Oxyuris vermicularis+Entamoeba coli(0.8%),Strongyloides stercoralis+Entamoeba coli(0.8%),***:Our findings reveal that strongyloidiasis is a common disease among mentally retarded population in southern Iran.

Gamma-ray shielding study of light to heavyweight concretes using MCNP-4C code

In this work, linear and mass attenuation coefficients, half and tenth-value layers, effective atomic number and electron density of different types of concretes were determined at 316.51, 468.07, 511, 662, 1173 and 1332 keV using MCNP-4C code and Win XCom programs. The MCNP-4C and Win XCom results agreed well with each other, with differences of \±1.9%. The results agreed with available experimental data, too, with differences of \±6%.The MCNP-4C results showed better agreement with the experimental data than the Win XCom results. Also, it was found that the effective electron density of studied concretes varies in the range of(2.83–3.2) 9 10^(23)electron/g.

Enhanced Antibacterial Activity of Bifunctional Fe_(3)O_(4)-Ag Core-Shell Nanostructures

We describe a simple one-pot thermal decomposition method for the production of a stable colloidal suspension of narrowly dispersed superparamagnetic Fe_(3)O_(4)-Ag core-shell *** biocompatible nanostructures are highly toxic to *** activity studies were carried out on both Gram negative(Escherichia coli and Proteus vulgaris)and Gram positive(Bacillus megaterium and Staphylococcus aureus)bacterial *** have been made to understand the underlying molecular mechanism of such antibacterial *** effect of the core-shell nanostructures on Gram negative strains was found to be better than that observed for silver *** minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)values of these nanostructures were found to be considerably lower than those of commercially available *** attribute this enhanced antibacterial effect of the nanostructures to their stability as a colloid in the medium,which modulates the phosphotyrosine profile of the bacterial proteins and arrests bacterial *** also demonstrate that these core-shell nanostructures can be removed from the medium by means of an external magnetic field which provides a mechanism to prevent uncontrolled waste disposal of these potentially hazardous nanostructures.

Microwave Assisted Extraction,Antioxidant Potential and Chromatographic Studies of Some Rasayana Drugs

Objective： To study and compare the conventional extraction procedure with microwave assisted extraction （MAE） for some Ayurvedic Rasayana drugs and to evaluate their antioxidant potential and carry out the characterization of extracts by thin layer chromatography. Methods： Three Ayurvedic rasayana plants Allium sativum Linn., Bombax ceiba Linn. and Inula racemosa Hook. were evaluated for an improved MAE methodology by determining the effects of grinding degree, extraction solvent, effect of dielectric constant and duration of time on the extractive value. Antioxidant potential of all three drugs was evaluated with 2,2-diphenyl-l-picrylhydrazyl （DPPH） radical scavenging activity and reducing power was determined by using Gallic acid as standard. Further thin layer chromatographic （TLC） analysis was performed on pre-activated Silica Gel G plates and Rf value were compared with those reported for the important biomarkers. Results： The total extractive value for Allium sativum Linn. was 36.95% （w/w） and 49.95% （w/w） for ethanol extraction respectively. In case of Bombax ceiba Linn. the yield of aqueous extract by MAE was 50% （w/w） compared to 42% （w/w） in ethanol （50% v/v）. Percent yield of Inula racernosa Hook. in aqueous extract was found to be 27.55% （w/w） which was better than ethanol extract （50%） where the yield was 25.95% （w/w）. Upon antioxidant activity evaluation A. safivum extract showed an absorbance of 0.980 ± 0.92 at concentration of 500 μg with maximum reducing capacity. This was followed by B. ceiba Linn. 0.825 ± 0.98 and I. racemosa Hook. with 0.799 ± 2.01 at a concentration of 500 μ g. TLC based standardization of A. sativum Linn. extract shows single spot with Rf value of 0.38, B. ceiba Linn. extract shows Rf values were 0.23, 0.58, 0.77, 0.92 and I. racemosa Hook. extract spot had a Rf value of 0.72. Inhibition of Toxic Effects of Viper and Cobra Venom by Indian Medicinal Plants

The mortality rate from snakebites in West Bengal is very high and most of the deaths are caused by the Daboia russelli and Naja naja envenomation. Twenty-three plants from the seventeen families were collected from the traditional healers and explored for the first time for antisnake venom activity. In our previous report, the methanolic root extract of the Indian medicinal plants Pluchea indica, Hemidesmus indicus, Vitex negundo and Emblica officinalis significantly neutralized the Viper and Cobra venom-induced pathophysiological changes [1][2]. In the present study, we explored four plant extracts (Curcuma aromatica, Aristolochia indica, Androgrphis paniculata and Curcuma zeodaria) for the antisnake venom activity. The plant extracts significantly antagonized Daboia russelli, Echis carinatus, Ophiophagus hannah and Naja kaouthia venom-induced lethal activity both in in vitro and in vivo studies. Daboia russellii venom-induced haemorrhage, coagulant, defibrinogenating and PLA2 activity were significantly neutralized by the extracts. No precipitating bands were observed between the plant extract and venom. This observation confirmed the role of active constituents of plants and plant materials involved in snake venom inhibition. Further studies are going on in our laboratory for the identification of active molecules as well as their mechanism of venom inhibition.

Synthesis and evaluation of novel analogues of mangiferin as potent antipyretic

Objective:To screen different analogues of mangiferin pharmacologically for antipyretic activity. Methods:The naturally occurring xanthone glycoside mangiferin was isolated by column chromatography from the elhanolic extract of stem bark of Mangifera *** was further converted to 5-(N-phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N-p-chlorophenylamino methyleno) mangiferin,5-(N-2-methyl phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N-p-methoxy phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N,N-diphenylamino methyleno) mangiferin,5-(N-α-napthylamino methyleno) mangiferin and 5-(N-4-methyl phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin *** synthesized compounds were further screened for antipyretic activity along with mangiferin at a dose level of 100 and 200 tng/*** and its analogues were characterized by melting point and R_f value determination and through spectral technique like UV,IR,and NMR spectral ***:The antipyretic activity of mangiferin as well as all analogues was found to be more significant in at higher dose ie.200 mg/kg which was depicted thmugh a decrease in rectal temperature up to 3 ***:The antipyretic activity of mangiferin and its analogues may be attributed to inhibition in synthesis of TNF-αand anti-oxidant activity associated with amelioration of inflammatory actions of cytokines.

Synergistic antibacterial effect of honey and Herba Ocimi Basilici against some bacterial pathogens

OBJECTIVE： To evaluate the antibacterial activity of the combination of different honey brands and methanolic fraction of Herba Ocimi Basilici using agar well diffusion assay. METHODS： The antibacterial activity was deter- mined against thirteen pathogenic bacterial clini- cal isolates including six gram negative （Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella typhimirium, Xanthomonas campestris） and six gram positive strains （Enterococcus faecalis faecalis, Bacillus subti- lis, Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium perfringens type C, Clostridium perfringens type D, CIostridium chauvoei）. Agar well diffusion method was used while zones of inhibition were measured with verni- er scale. RESULTS： At higher concentration, all the honey brands showed good to significant activity. Thehighest activity was observed for Hamdard brand honey （27.60±0.40） against Enterococcus faecalis. CONCLUSION： These results revealed that combi- nations of plant extracts of Herba Ocimi Basilici with honey can be used for the development of potent and novel antibacterial agents.
