AIM: Celiac disease (CD) is an enteropathic disorder very prevalent in Saharawi people. Our aim was to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of six human tissue transglutaminase (tTG) based ELISA tests in Saharawi CD patients. METHODS: Fifty-two CD patients and 23 controls were selected from the Saharawi refugee camps in Tinduf. CD patients were divided into two groups according to their anti-endomysium (EmA) status: 41 EmA positive and 11 EmA negative. Sera from patients and controls were tested for human tTG using six commercial ELISA kits. We used receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves and areas under the curve to compare the diagnostic accuracies of the six assays. RESULTS: In general, there are differences in the sensitivity and specificity of the human tTG ELISA assays used. Diagnostic accuracy of tests was significantly improved by adjusting the cut-off thresholds according to ROC plot analysis; the correction of the cut-off with the employment of the ROC curve analysis modifies the decision limit in more than 50% in five of the six kits evaluated. CONCLUSION: Some of the human tTG ELISAs used in this study have a diagnostic accuracy similar to EmA determination for diagnosis of CD in Saharawi people. However, it is necessary to select the assay with a higher sensitivity and specificity, and recalculate the cut-off threshold using samples from the referral population.

In recent years,gait-based emotion recognition has been widely applied in the field of computer ***,existing gait emotion recognition methods typically rely on complete human skeleton data,and their accuracy significantly declines when the data is *** enhance the accuracy of gait emotion recognition under occlusion,this paper proposes a Multi-scale Suppression Graph ConvolutionalNetwork(MS-GCN).TheMS-GCN consists of three main components:Joint Interpolation Module(JI Moudle),Multi-scale Temporal Convolution Network(MS-TCN),and Suppression Graph Convolutional Network(SGCN).The JI Module completes the spatially occluded skeletal joints using the(K-Nearest Neighbors)KNN interpolation *** MS-TCN employs convolutional kernels of various sizes to comprehensively capture the emotional information embedded in the gait,compensating for the temporal occlusion of gait *** SGCN extracts more non-prominent human gait features by suppressing the extraction of key body part features,thereby reducing the negative impact of occlusion on emotion recognition *** proposed method is evaluated on two comprehensive datasets:Emotion-Gait,containing 4227 real gaits from sources like BML,ICT-Pollick,and ELMD,and 1000 synthetic gaits generated using STEP-Gen technology,and ELMB,consisting of 3924 gaits,with 1835 labeled with emotions such as“Happy,”“Sad,”“Angry,”and“Neutral.”On the standard datasets Emotion-Gait and ELMB,the proposed method achieved accuracies of 0.900 and 0.896,respectively,attaining performance comparable to other ***,on occlusion datasets,the proposedmethod significantly mitigates the performance degradation caused by occlusion compared to other methods,the accuracy is significantly higher than that of other methods.

Spraying Arginine at 5 Days before Harvest Delays Postharvest Broccoli Senescence via Nutrient Accumulation

To determine the effects of preharvest arginine spraying on the nutritional level of broccoli and the mechanism of action of arginine in improving the storage quality of broccoli,arginine spraying(5 mmol/L)was conducted at 0,1,3,and 5 days before *** appearance,respiration rate,mass-loss rate,electrolyte leakage,glucosinolate,ascorbic acid,total phenol,total flavonoid,total sugar and sucrose contents,and sucrose phosphate synthase(SPS),invertase(INV),sucrose synthase synthesis(SSS)and cleavage(SSC)activities of broccoli samples were observed after 0,2,4,6,8,and 10 days of *** results showed that spraying arginine at 5 days preharvest(5-ARG)helped to inhibit broccoli respiration during storage,delay electrolyte leakage,and maintain broccoli ***,during the growth stage,total sugar accumulation was higher in the 5-ARG *** addition,during the storage period,sucrose synthesis was accelerated,while sucrose cleavage was inhibited,resulting in more sucrose retention in postharvest *** conclusion,5-ARG resulted in the accumulation of more nutrients during the growth process and effectively delayed the quality decline during storage,thereby prolonging the shelf life of ***,this study provides a theoretical basis for improving postharvest storage characteristics of broccoli through preharvest treatments.

When the upper chord beam of the beam-string structure(BSS)is made of concrete-ﬁlled steel tube(CFST),its overall stiffness will change greatly with the construction of concrete placement,which will have an impact on the design of the tensioning plans and selection of control measures for the *** order to accurately obtain the bending stiffness of CFST beam and clarify its impact on the mechanical properties of composite BSS during con-struction,the inﬂuence of some factors such as height-width ratio,wall thickness of steel tube,elasticity modulus of concrete,and friction coefﬁcient on the bending stiffness are analyzed parametrically by the numerical simula-tion technology based on an actual *** calculation formula of the equivalent bending stiffness of CFST is also established through mathematical statistical ***,the equivalent bending stiffness is introduced into the construction and use stages of the composite BSS,respectively,and the mechanical properties such as prestress-tensioning control value,structural deformation,and internal force of key members are comparatively analyzed when adopting two different construction ***,the optimal construction plan of concrete placementﬁrst and then prestress-tensioning is proposed.

High Oxygen Nanocomposite Barrier Films Based on Xylan and Nanocrystalline Cellulose

The goal of this work is to produce nanocomposite film with low oxygen permeability by casting an aqueous solution containing xylan,sorbitol and nanocrystalline *** morphology of the resulting nanocomposite films was examined by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy which showed that control films containing xylan and sorbitol had a more open structure as compared to xylan-sorbitol films containing sulfonated nanocrystalline *** average pore diameter,bulk density,porosity and tortuosity factor measurements of control xylan films and nanocomposite xylan films were examined by mercury intrusion porosimetry *** films reinforced with nanocrystalline cellulose were denser and exhibited higher tortuosity factor than the control xylan *** xylan films had average pore diameter,bulk density,porosity and tortuosity factor of 0.1730 μm,0.6165 g/ml,53.0161% and 1.258,respectively as compared to xylan films reinforced with 50% nanocrystalline cellulose with average pore diameter of 0.0581 μm,bulk density of 1.1513 g/ml,porosity of 22.8906% and tortuosity factor of *** transmission rate tests demonstrated that films prepared with xylan,sorbitol and 5%,10%,25% and 50% sulfonated nanocrystalline cellulose exhibited a significantly reduced oxygen permeability of 1.1387,1.0933,0.8986 and 0.1799 cm^3×μm/m^2×d×k Pa respectively with respect to films prepared solely from xylan and sorbitol with a oxygen permeability of 189.1665 cm^3×μm/m^2×d×k *** properties suggested these nanocomposite films have promising barrier properties.

AIM： To evaluate the effects of indomethacin [dual cyclooxygenase （COX）-I/COX-2 inhibitor] and 3-（3,4-difluorophenyl）-4-（4-（methylsulfonyl） phenyl）- 2-（5H）-furanone （MF-tricyclic）（COX-2 selective inhibi- tor） in a rat experimental model of Barrett＇s esophagus and esophageal ***： A total of 112 surviving post-surgery rats were randomly divided into three groups： the control group （n = 48）, which did not receive any treatment; the indomethacin group （n = 32）, which were given 2 mg/kg per day of the COX-I/COX-2 inhibitor; and the MF-tricyclic group （n = 32）, which received 10 mg/kg per day of the selective COX-2 inhibitor. Randomly se- lected rats were killed either 8 wk or 16 wk after sur- gery. The timing of the deaths was in accordance with a previous study performed in our group. Only rats that were killed at the times designated by the protocol were included in the study. We then assessed the histology and prostaglandin E2 （PGE2） expression levels in the rat esophagi. An additional group of eight animals that did not undergo esophagojejunostomy were included in order to obtain normal esophageal tissue as a control. RESULTS： Compared to a control group with no treat- ment （vehicle-treated rats）, indomethacin treatment was associated with decreases in ulcerated esophageal mucosa （16% vs 35% and 14% vs 17%, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respectively; P = 0.021）, length of intestinal metaplasia in continuity with anastomosis （2 4- 1.17 mm vs 2.29 ＋ 0.75 mm and 1.25 4- 0.42 mm vs 3.5 4- 1.54 mm, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respec- tively; P = 0.007）, presence of intestinal metaplasia beyond anastomosis （20% vs 71.4% and 0% vs 60%, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respectively; P = 0.009）, severity of dysplasia （0% vs 71.4% and 20% vs 85.7% high-grade dysplasia, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, re- spectively; P = 0.002）, and adenocarcinoma incidence （0% vs 57.1% and 0% vs 60%, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respectively; P 〈 0.0001）. AIM： To investigate whether single-dose intravitreal injections of bevacizumab and ranibizumab transfer into milk. METHODS： This study included lactating 12 sheep and a single 3-month old suckling lamb of each sheep. Two groups consisting of 6 sheep and their lambs were constituted; the ranibizumab group and the bevacizumab group before the administration of intravitreal injections, blood and milk samples were obtained from all sheep and, following the injections, blood and milk samples of all sheep and blood samples of all lambs were collected at regular time points. Serum and milk concentrations of bevacizumab and ranibizumab were measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay（ELISA） kit. The limit of determination was 0.9 ng/m L for bevacizumab and 0.62 ng/m L for ***： At 6h after intravitreal injections, bevacizumab concentration was above the limit of determination in the blood of all sheep. At 3wk, when the study was terminated, bevacizumab concentrations were high in 4 sheep. Even though bevacizumab concentrations in milk showed fluctuations, the drug transferred into the milk of all sheep at detectable concentrations. Ranibizumab drug concentrations in the blood and milk of sheep and those in the blood of lambs were below the limit of determination by the ELISA ***： This sheep model study demonstrate that intravitreal injection of ranibizumab, which did not transfer into the milk of sheep and suckling lambs, is safer than bevacizumab during lactation period.
