Single longitudinal mode continuous-wave operation of GaN-based distributed Bragg reflector(DBR) laser diodes with 10 th-order surface gratings is demonstrated. The DBR consists of periodic v-shaped grooves on a 2 μm wide ridge waveguide fabricated by using electron-beam lithography and plasma etching. The effect of different lengths of the DBR section and the gain section on the device performance has been studied. Periodic mode hops to the adjacent longitudinal Fabry–Perot resonator mode at shorter wavelength have been obse.v.d when increasing the operation current. Between the mode hops, single longitudinal mode emission at around 405 nm is achieved with a full width at half-maximum of 0.03 nm. A linear redshift of the emission wavelength with increasing temperature of 0.019 nm/K was derived.

According to first-principles density functional calculations, we have investigated the magnetic properties of Mn- doped GaN with defects, Ga1-x-yvGxMny N1-z-tvNzOt with Mn substituted at Ga sites, nitrogen vacancies vN, gallium vacancies vG and oxygen substituted at nitrogen sites. The magnetic interaction in Mn-doped GaN favours the ferromagnetic coupling via the double exchange mechanism. The ground state is found to be well described by a model based on a Mn3＋-d5 in a high spin state coupled via a double exchange to a partially delocalized hole accommodated in the 2p states of neighbouring nitrogen ions. The effect of defects on ferromagnetic coupling is investigated. It is found that in the presence of donor defects, such as oxygen substituted at nitrogen sites, nitrogen vacancy antiferromagnetic interactions appear, while in the case of Ga vacancies, the interactions remain ferromagnetic; in the case of acceptor defects like Mg and Zn codoping, ferromagnetism is stabilized. The formation energies of these defects are computed. Furthermore, the half-metallic behaviours appear in some studied compounds.

Aqueous rechargeable zinc-ion battery(ZIB)is considered to be a potential energy storage system for large-scale applications due to its e.v.ronmental friendliness,high safety,and low ***,it remains challenging to develop suitable cathode materials with high specific capacity and long-term cyclic ***,we have fabricated freestanding Sr0.19v2O51.3H2O/carbon nanotubes(SrvO/CNTs)composite films with different mass ratios by incorporating SrvO into CNTs *** synthesized SrvO possesses a large interlayer spacing of 1.31 nm,which facilitates Zn(2+)***,the SrvO/CNTs composite film with conductive network structure promotes electron transfer and ensures good contact between SrvO and CNTs during the long-term cycling *** a result,the battery based on the SrvO/CNTs composite cathode with a mass ratio of 7:3 delivers a specific capacity of 326 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1 A·g^(-1)and 145 mAh·g^(-1)at 5 A·g^(-1),demonstrating a high capacity and excellent rate ***,the assembled ZIB shows good capacity retention of 91%even after ultra-long cycling for 7500 cycles at a high current rate of 5 Ag^(-1).More importantly,the battery also delivers a high energy density and power density,as 290 Wh·kg^(-1)at 125 W·kg^(-1)(0.1 A·g^(-1)),or 115 Wh·kg^(-1)at 6078 W·kg^(-1)(5 Ag^(-1)).The results demonstrate that the SrvO/CNTs composite is a promising cathode toward large-scale energy storage applications.

Quasi-classical trajectory calculations of the title reactions H ＋ C1F （v = 0-5, j = 0, 3,6, 9） -＋ HCl ＋ F and H ＋ C1F （v = 0-5, j =0, 3, 6, 9） → HF ＋ C1 at erel = 0.5 kcal/mol-20 kcal/mol on ground potential energy surface DHTSN of 1 2AI [M. e Deskevich, M. Y. Hayes, K. Takahashi, R. T. Skodje and D. J. Nesbitt, J. Chem. Phys. 124, 224303 （2006）] are performed. Potential energy surfaces derived from DHTSN for the title reactions are obtained, and compared with that of DHTSN for the reaction F ＋ HC1 -＋ HF ＋ C1. Both potential energy surfaces have an early barrier pattern. Integral cross sections and alignments of product molecules HC1 and HF dependent on the internal energy states v and j of reactant molecule C1F are obtained and compared. Translational, vibrational, and rotational energy specific translational enhancements of the reactant molecule CIF of the title reactions are found. Reaction mechanisms of the title reactions according to the respective potential energy contours are further found and explained. Reasons of simultaneous translational and vibrational enhancements are clarified.

In a recent Science article,Wang and colleagues showed that the dipeptidyl peptidase 4(DPP4)enzyme produced by the gut microbiota can interfere with the effect of host glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1)involved in stimulating insulin secretion,and the specific inhibitor of microbial DPP4(mDPP4),combined with clinical inhibitors of host DPP4 isoenzymes,further promotes blood glucose homeostasis.1 These results point out why certain patients respond inadequately to an antidiabetic medication.

This paper celebrates Professor Yongqi GAO's significant achievement in the field of interdisciplinary studies within the context of his final research project Arctic Climate Predictions: Pathways to Resilient Sustainable Societies-ARCPATH(https://***/en/projects/finished-projects/arcpath). The disciplines represented in the project are related to climatology, anthropology, marine biology, economics, and the broad spectrum of social-ecological studies. Team members were drawn from the Nordic countries, Russia, China, the United States, and Canada. The project was transdisciplinary as well as interdisciplinary as it included collaboration with local knowledge holders. ARCPATH made significant contributions to Arctic research through an improved understanding of the mechanisms that drive climate.v.riability in the Arctic. In tandem with this research, a combination of historical investigations and social, economic, and marine biological fieldwork was carried out for the project study areas of Iceland, Greenland, Norway, and the surrounding seas, with a focus on the joint use of ocean and sea-ice data as well as social-ecological drivers. ARCPATH was able to provide an improved framework for predicting the near-term variation of Arctic climate on spatial scales relevant to society, as well as evaluating possible related changes in socioeconomic realms. In summary, through the integration of information from several different disciplines and research approaches, ARCPATH se.v.d to create new and valuable knowledge on crucial issues, thus providing new pathways to action for Arctic communities.
