Rough set theory is an effective method to feature selection, which has recently fascinated many researchers. The essence of rough set approach to feature selection is to find a subset of the original features. It is, however, an NP-hard problem finding a minimal subset of the features, and it is necessary to investigate effective and efficient heuristic algorithms. This paper presents a novel rough set approach to feature selection based on scatter search metaheuristic. The proposed method, called scatter search rough set attribute reduction （SSAR）, is illustrated by 13 well known datasets from UCI machine learning repository. The proposed heuristic strategy is compared with typical attribute reduction methods including genetic algorithm, ant colony, simulated annealing, and Tabu search. Computational results demonstrate that our algorithm can provide efficient solution to find a minimal subset of the features and show promising and competitive performance on the considered datasets.

The combination of PCR amplification of 16S rRNA genes with denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis （DGGE） analysis was used to reveal the compositions and dynamics of bacterial communities in a sewage treatment plant with two systems, i.e., an anoxic- anaerobic-aerobic system （inverted A2O） and an anaerobic-anoxic-aerobic one （conventional A2O） over a period from February to July 2009, during which both systems experienced serious sludge bulking problems. The DGGE patterns showed that there were many common bands in both systems, suggesting the high similarity of bacterial communities of the two systems. Meanwhile, the moving window correlation analysis showed that the two systems experienced different microbial community structure changes during the period, which might be related with the different situations of the occurrence and disappearance of sludge bulking, as being reflected by sludge volume index （SVI） values. Major bands of DGGE patterns of sludge samples were further sequenced. Phylogenetic affiliation indicated that the majority of the sequences obtained were affiliated with Actinobacteria, Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes/Chlorobi group and α- and β-Proteobacteria. Two sequences showed high similarities to typical filamentous bacteria Microthrix parvicella and Nostocoida limicola I, indicating that these bacterial species have been involved in the sludge bulking problems.

BACKGROUND The increasing kidney retransplantation rate has created a parallel field of research,including the risk factors and outcomes of this advanced form of renal replacement *** presentation of experiences from different kidney transplantation centers may help enrich the literature on kidney retransplantation,as a specific topic in the field of kidney *** To identify the risk factors affecting primary graft function and graft survival rates after second kidney transplantation(SKT).METHODS The records of SKT cases performed between January 1977 and December 2014 at a European tertiary-level kidney transplantation center were retrospectively reviewed and *** the descriptive characteristics,the survivals of patients and both the first and second grafts were described using Kaplan-Meier *** addition,Kaplan-Meier analyses were also used to estimate the survival probabilities at 1,3,5,and 10 post-operative years,as well as at the longest followup duration ***,bivariate associations between various predictors and the categorical outcomes were assessed,using the suitable biostatistical tests,according to the predictor *** Out of 1861 cases of kidney transplantation,only 48 cases with SKT were eligible for studying,including 33 men and 15 women with a mean age of 42.1±13 *** primary non-function(PNF)graft occurred in five patients(10.4%).In bivariate analyses,a high body mass index(P=0.009)and first graft loss due to acute rejection(P=0.025)were the only significant predictors of PNF *** second graft survival was reduced by delayed graft function in the first(P=0.008)and second(P<0.001)***,the effect of acute rejection within the first year after the first transplant did not reach the threshold of significance(P=0.053).The mean follow-up period was 59.8±48.6 *** graft/patient survival rates at 1,3,5 and 10 years were 90.5%/97.9%,79.9%/95.6%,73.7%/91.9%,and 51.6%/83.0%,respe

Kinetic spectrophotometric method for determination of amlodipine besylate in its pharmaceutical tablets

A simple and sensitive kinetic spectrophotometric method has been developed and validated for determination of amlodipine besylate （AML）. The method was based on the condensation reaction of AML with 7-chloro-4-nitro-2,1,3-benzoxadiazole in an alkaline buffer （pH 8.6） producing a highly colored product. The color development was monitored spectrophometrically at the maximum absorption λmax 470 nm. The factors affecting the reaction were studied and the conditions were optimized. The stoichiometry of the reaction was determined, and the reaction pathway was postulated. Moreover, both the activation energy and the specific rate constant （at 70 ℃） of the reaction were found to be 6.74 kcal mole-1 and 3.58 s -1, respectively. The initial rate and fixed time methods were utilized for constructing the calibration graphs lbr the determination of AML concentration. Under the optimum reaction conditions, the limits of detection and quantification were 0.35 and 1.05 ug/mL, respectively. The precision of the method was satisfactory; the relative standard deviations were 0.85-1.76%. The proposed method was successfully applied to the analysis of AML in its pure form and tablets with good accuracy; the recovery percentages ranged from 99.55 ± 1.69% to 100.65 ±1.48%. The results were compared with that of the reported method.

Topiramate induced peripheral neuropathy:A case report and review of literature

Drug-induced peripheral neuropathy had been rarely reported as an adverse effect of some antiepileptic drugs(AEDs) at high cumulative doses or even within the therapeutic drug doses or *** describe clinical and diagnostic features of a patient with peripheral neuropathy as an adverse effect of chronic topiramate(TPM) therapy.A 37-year-old woman was presented for the control of active epilepsy(2010).She was resistant to some AEDs as mono-or combined therapies(carbamazepine,sodium valproate,levetiracetam,oxcarbazepine and lamotrigine).She has the diagnosis of frontal lobe epilepsy with secondary generalization and has a brother,sister and son with active *** became seizure free on TPM(2013-2017) but is complaining of persistent distal lower extremities paresthesia in a stocking *** examination revealed presence of diminished Achilles tendon reflexes,stocking hypesthesia and delayed distal latencies,reduced conduction velocities and amplitudes of action potentials of posterior tibial and sural nerves,indicating demyelinating and axonal peripheral neuropathy of the lower *** exclusion of the possible causes of peripheral neuropathy,chronic TPM therapy is suggested as the most probable cause of patient's *** is the first case report of topiramate induced peripheral neuropathy in the literature.

Reliable Analytic Strategy to Correlate the Morphological and Cytological Parameters on Lupinus termis L, against Fusarium oxysporum Infection

Many analytic strategies have emerged to estimate plant responses to Fusarium wilt. The demand for fast and reliable method （diagnosis, prediction） to determine isolate strength accurately is not established yet. Early determination of pathogen strength helps in plant medication. The aim of this study was to develop a faster strategy and method for early determination of fungal isolates strength in correlation to plant response. Till now, the scientists have no consensus on the most correlated parameters that could express wilt precisely. In this study, 30 isolates of Fusarium oxysporum isolated from Lupinus termis L. were used to provide an explicit image about the real strength of Fusarium isolates and its impact on the plant. Wilting percentage ranged from 26.67% to 93.33% of the infected plants depending on isolate virulence. Some of cellular, morphological and physical measurements were conducted on 8 out of 30 isolates, including root （length, fresh weight （FW） and dry weight （DW））, nodules （water content （WC）, FW, DW）, stem （height, WC, FW, DW）, total leaves/plant （WC, FW, DW） and the fourth leaf （WC, FW, DW, leaf area, epidermal cell area, epidermal cell number, succulence）. Hierarchical clustering was used to determine the variance between the isolates. Detrended correspondence analysis （DCA） and canonical correspondence analysis （CCA） were used to determine the most important growth parameters that could express wilting accurately. The CCA results showed that most of the measured parameters on the fourth leaf, except for leaf epidermal cell number, were highly and positively correlated to wilt. That makes these specific parameters valuable and sensitive for any changes in isolates strength. Accordingly, a mathematical model was created to be helpful in the quick determination of isolate strength and precise medication.

The extensive use of nanoparticles(NPs)in diverse applications causes their localization to aquatic habitats,affecting the metabolic products of primary producers in aquatic ecosystems,such as *** calcium oxide nanoparticles(CaO NPs)are of the scarcely studied ***,the current work proposed that the exposure to CaO NPs may instigate metabolic pathway to be higher than that of normally growing algae,and positively stimulate algal *** this respect,this research was undertaken to study the exposure effect of CaO NPs(0,20,40,60,80,and 100μg mL^(−1))on the growth,photosynthesis,respiration,oxidative stress,antioxidants,and lipid production of the microalga Coccomyxa chodatii SAG *** results showed that the algal growth concomitant with chlorophyll content,photosynthesis,and calcium content increased in response to CaO *** contents of biomolecules such as proteins,amino acids,and carbohydrates were also promoted by CaO NPs with variant ***,lipid production was enhanced by the applied *** NPs induced the accumulation of hydrogen peroxide,while lipid peroxidation was reduced,revealing no oxidative behavior of the applied nanoparticles on ***,CaO NPs have a triggering effect on the antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase,catalase,ascorbate peroxidase,and guaiacol *** results recommended the importance of the level of 60μg mL^(−1) CaO NPs on lipid production(with increasing percentage of 65%compared to control)and the highest dry matter acquisition of *** study recommended the feasibility of an integrated treatment strategy of CaO NPs in augmenting biomass,metabolic up-regulations,and lipid accumulation in ***.

Iron Biomineralization Controls on Geophysical Signatures of Hydrocarbon Contaminated Sediments

The interpretation of geophysical data from mature hydrocarbon contaminated sites has relied on a conductive plume model where the conductivity of the subsurface contaminant volume is the result of microbial mediated changes in pore fluid chemistry. This conductive anomalous region is characterized by high total dissolved solids and occurs within the water table fluctuation zone where microbial activity is the maximum. Here we update this conductive plume model by providing new insights from recent laboratory investigations and geophysical data from hydrocarbon contaminated sites suggesting the unrecognized role of the impact that microbial-mediated metallic mineral precipitates have on geophysical signatures. We show that microbial redox processes（e.g., iron and sulfate reduction） during the biodegradation process involve mineralogical transformations and the precipitation of new minerals（e.g., magnetite, and pyrite） that can impact the electrical and magnetic properties of contaminated sediments. We provide examples from laboratory experiments and field studies and suggest that knowledge of the dominant redox processes occurring at hydrocarbon contaminated sites and the mineral phases formed is critical for a more robust interpretation of geophysical data associated with microbial-mediated changes at hydrocarbon contaminated sites. We also show that integration of both magnetic and electrical techniques may help reduce ambiguity in data interpretation.
