The correlation between Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)infection and nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)risk has been extensively *** continual monitoring of EBV-IgAs provides a promising approach of NPC screening in its early *** this study,we successfully synthesized a single-atom nanozyme(SANzyme)through the application of iron-porphyrin based metal organic framework(MOF-FeP).The MOF-FeP possesses precisely-defined electronic and geometric structures that accurately mimic highly-evolved catalytic site of natural *** peroxidase-like activity of MOF-FeP enables it to catalyze the chemiluminescence of luminol *** integrating MOF-FeP into a traditional strip,we created a rapid and highly-sensitive evaluation tool for detecting ***,the MOF-FeP strip enables the simultaneous detection of three EBV-IgAs,greatly improving the accuracy of EBV-associated NPC *** sensitivities of the MOF-FeP strip(75.56%–93.30%)surpass those of current enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)methods(64.44%–82.22%).This test takes only 16 min to perform as opposed to the customary 1–2 h required for standard ***,the MOF-FeP strip is suitable for whole blood samples,thereby significantly simplifying the sample preparation and detection *** conclusion,the MOF-FeP strip combines the simplicity of traditional strip with the high catalytic activity of *** innovative MOF-FeP strip offers a new point-of-care strategy for EBV-IgAs detection,which is expected to markedly facilitate early screening for EBV-associated diseases.

Hearing loss has become increasingly prevalent and causes considerable disability,thus gravely burdening the global *** loss of hair cells is a main cause of sensorineural hearing loss,and currently,the only relatively effective clinical treatments are limited to digital hearing equipment like cochlear implants and hearing aids,but these are of limited benefit in *** is therefore urgent to understand the mechanisms of damage repair in order to develop new neuroprotective *** present,how to promote the regeneration of functional hair cells is a key scientific question in the field of hearing ***-ple signaling pathways and transcriptional factors trigger the activation of hair cell progenitors and ensure the maturation of newborn hair cells,and in this article,we first review the principal mechanisms underlying hair cell *** then further discuss therapeutic strategies involving the co-regulation of multiple signaling pathways in order to induce effective functional hair cell regeneration after degeneration,and we summarize current achievements in hair cell ***,we discuss potential future approaches,such as small molecule drugs and gene therapy,which might be applied for regenerating functional hair cells in the clinic.

Current Situation and Progress of Pig Model in Otology Research

Pig models are widely used in otological research. The establishment of common pig and miniature pig animal models has opened up new fields in otological research and is also an ideal large otological animal model. This article introduces the applications, current status, progress, advantages, and issues of using pigs as otologic animal models. It summarizes current research on pigs in the fields of hearing disorders, otitis, vertigo, cochlea, gene editing, and tissue engineering, among other otologic and audiological areas. These models are valuable for translating basic medical science into clinical applications. Based on this, platforms have been established for studying deafness and vertigo, cochlear implantation experiments, stem cell and gene therapy, and tissue engineering. These serve as ideal experimental models for the prevention and treatment of ear diseases, pointing toward new directions. This will bolster the promotion and application of pig models in the fields of tissue engineering and gene editing in the future.

Background:Sinusitis is a common diagnosis that can be erroneously associated with routine weather‐related barometric pressure *** actuality,these pressure changes likely exacerbate migraine headaches,which can cause facial pain and pressure rather than true sinus ***:The present study sought to characterize the representation of both sinusitis and migraine in association with barometric pressure changes across websites on the ***:An Internet search for relevant terms was conducted,and content of the resulting pages was assessed for associations between weather‐related pressure changes and either sinusitis or *** in reported results across different subtypes of Internet sources were *** primary outcomes measured were(1)whether a given media source associated barometric weather changes with sinusitis,(2)whether that source associated barometric weather changes with migraine,and(3)treatment options offered by that ***:Of the 116 included webpages,36(31.03%)associated sinusitis and routine barometric pressure *** these,10(27.77%)were otolaryngology practice ***‐seven webpages(57.76%)associated migraine and routine barometric pressure *** these,nonotolaryngology webpages were more likely to report this ***:otolaryngology practice sites were observed to be the most frequent professional medical resource reporting the unsubstantiated claim that routine barometric pressure changes are associated with *** sources were more likely to link weather‐related pressure changes to *** results suggest that opportunities exist for otolaryngology practice sites to educate patients about nonrhinogenic headache etiologies.

Patients with suspected OSA were examined using *** were divided into two groups based on the presence of *** was defined as a patient who needed to void at least *** index(AHI)was employed to classify patients according to degrees of severity:AHI15 events/h,15 events/hAHI140 patients,114 patients had OSA(48 had mild OSA;34 had moderate OSA;and 32 had severe OSA)and 107 patients had *** total IPSS was significantly higher in nocturia patients in all groups except the group of severe OSA *** the increasing severity of OSA,more correlated factors related to nocturia were *** mild OSA patients,nocturia related to increased age(p=0.025),minimum arterial blood oxygenation saturation(p=0.046),and decreased AHI of non-rapid eye movement(p=0.047),AHI of total sleep time(p=0.010),and desaturation index(p=0.012).In moderate OSA patients,nocturia related to increased age(p1),awake time(p=0.025),stage 1 sleep(p=0.033),and sleep latency(p=0.033),and decreased height(p=0.044),weight(p=0.025),and sleep efficiency(p=0.003).In severe OSA patients,nocturia related to increased weight(p=0.011),body mass index(p=0.009),awake time(p=0.008),stage 1 sleep(p=0.040),arousal number(p=0.030),arousal index(p=0.013),periodic limb movement number(p=0.013),and periodic limb movement index(p=0.004),and decreased baseline arterial blood oxygenation saturation(p=0.046).Conclusion:Our study revealed that there were more correlated factors related to nocturia with increasing severity of *** study helps in clinical education and treatment for OSA patients with different severity.

Background:Paclitaxel is a compound derived from Paciﬁc yew bark that induces various cancer cell ***,whether it also has anticancer activities in KOSC3 cells,an oral cancer cell line,is ***:3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide,ﬂow cytometry,and western blotting assays were carried out to assess cell viability,subG1 phase of the cell cycle,and apoptosis-related protein expression,***:Ourﬁndings indicate that paclitaxel could inhibit cell viability and increase the expression of apoptotic markers,including plasma membrane blebbing and the cleavage of poly ADP-ribose polymerase in KOSC3 ***,the treatment with paclitaxel remarkably elevated the percentage of the subG1 phase in KOSC3 *** addition,treatment with a pan-caspase inhibitor could recover paclitaxel-inhibited cell ***,caspase-8,caspase-9,caspase-7,and BH3 interacting domain death agonist(Bid)were activated in paclitaxel-treated KOSC3 ***:Paclitaxel induced apoptosis through caspase cascade in KOSC3 cells.

Noise-induced hearing loss is the primary non-genetic factor contributing to auditory ***,there are currently no effective pharmacological interventions for patients with noise-induced hearing ***,we present evidence suggesting that the lysine-specific demethylase 1 inhibitor–tranylcypromine is an otoprotective agent that could be used to treat noise-induced hearing loss,and elucidate its underlying regulatory *** established a mouse model of permanent threshold shift hearing loss by exposing the mice to white broadband noise at a sound pressure level of 120 d B for 4 *** found that tranylcypromine treatment led to the upregulation of Sestrin2(SESN2)and activation of the autophagy markers light chain 3B and lysosome-associated membrane glycoprotein 1 in the cochleae of mice treated with *** noise exposure group treated with tranylcypromine showed significantly lower average auditory brainstem response hearing thresholds at click,4,8,and 16 k Hz frequencies compared with the noise exposure group treated with *** findings indicate that tranylcypromine treatment resulted in increased SESN2,light chain 3B,and lysosome-associated membrane glycoprotein 1 expression after noise exposure,leading to a reduction in levels of 4-hydroxynonenal and cleaved caspase-3,thereby reducing noise-induced hair cell ***,immunoblot analysis demonstrated that treatment with tranylcypromine upregulated SESN2 expression via the autophagy *** treatment also reduced the production of NOD-like receptor family pyrin domaincontaining 3(NLRP3)*** conclusion,our results showed that tranylcypromine treatment ameliorated cochlear inflammation by promoting the expression of SESN2,which induced autophagy,thereby restricting NLRP3-related inflammasome signaling,alleviating cochlear hair cell loss,and protecting hearing *** findings suggest that inhibiting lysine-specific demethylase 1 is a

Visible light-driven environmentally friendly ZnO semiconductor for durable photocatalytic disinfection and purification of drinking water is very ***,the high requirement in ultraviolet absorption and rapid recombination velocity of the photogenerated electron-hole severely hamper the sustainable implementation of ZnO in ***,by one "two birds with one stone" strategy,Fe-doping ZnO porous nanosheets(Fe-ZnOPN) composed of ultrafine nanoparticles can be constructed by hydrothermal synthesis of basic zinc carbonate and controlled low-temperature pyrolytic *** highly concentrated Fe-doping effect(> 7 wt%),the tailoring ZnO nanograin size(～10 nm) and rich oxygen vacancy of catalyst were accessed by ion/vacancy diffusion and nanocrystal rearrangement,superior to the ZnO porous nanosheets(～37 nm).The obtained Fe-ZnOPN were endowed with a larger specific surface area,improved visible light harvesting ability,light response and separation of charge *** characters allowed the resulting catalyst to afford a 100% bactericidal efficiency against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus under visible light irradiation(> 420 nm).Impressively,the Fe-ZnOPN could show practical disinfection ability in different water resources and multiple reuse *** mechanism study revealed that excellent photocatalytic disinfection performance of Fe-ZnOPN correlated with the in situ generated active oxidative substances,destruction of bacterial biofilm and resulting nucleic acids leakage,thereby causing irreversible physical *** study provided a new reference for designing environmentally friendly photocatalytic sterilization materials and disinfectants,which can be used in the practical disinfection of drinking water.
