A Comprehensive Review on Charging Topologies and Power Electronic Converter Solutions for Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles(EVs) are becoming more popular worldwide due to environmental concerns, fuel security, and price volatility. The performance of EVs relies on the energy stored in their batteries, which can be charged using either AC(slow) or DC(fast) chargers. Additionally, EVs can also be used as mobile power storage devices using vehicle-to-grid(V2G) technology. Power electronic converters(PECs) have a constructive role in EV applications, both in charging EVs and in V2G. Hence, this paper comprehensively investigates the state of the art of EV charging topologies and PEC solutions for EV applications. It examines PECs from the point of view of their classifications, configurations, control approaches, and future research prospects and their impacts on power quality. These can be classified into various topologies: DC-DC converters, AC-DC converters, DC-AC converters, and AC-AC converters. To address the limitations of traditional DC-DC converters such as switching losses, size, and high-electromagnetic interference(EMI), resonant converters and multiport converters are being used in high-voltage EV applications. Additionally, power-train converters have been modified for high-efficiency and reliability in EV applications. This paper offers an overview of charging topologies, PECs, challenges with solutions, and future trends in the field of the EV charging station applications.

A review of transportation carbon emissions research using bibliometric analyses

The transportation sector is one of the major sources of global carbon emissions.In this study,a bibliometric analysis was conducted using CiteSpace and VOSviewer for articles published in the field of transportation carbon emissions(TCEs)between 1997 and 2023.From this analysis,our research shows that:(a)the number of articles on TCEs has grown rapidly since 2010;(b)China,the United States,and the United Kingdom are important research forces,with the Helmholtz Association of German having the highest number of publications;(c)transportation Research Part D:Transport and Environment is the most cited journal in this field;(d)the current research hotspots mainly focus on theory and methodological approaches,low-carbon travel,green supply chain management,and carbon emission drivers;(e)while,scenario analysis,data envelopment analysis,and vehicle routing problem are popular keywords that have been used in the research field of TCEs in recent years.Finally,using current research trends,our study also proposes a series of future research endeavors for the field of TCEs.

Risk assessment of hazardous materials transportation:A review of research progress in the last thirty years

In recent years,hazardous materials transportation accidents occur frequently,causing huge casualties and property losses.Risk assessment of hazardous materials transportation has been constantly investigated by researchers and decision-makers.In order to study the research progress of risk assessment of hazardous materials transportation,so as to better reveal relevant problems.This review systematically analyzes the existing literature,from 1991 to 2020,on risk assessment models and methods of hazardous materials transportation,and segregates the relevant studies based on unimodal and intermodal transportation systems.Additionally,an example is considered to analyze the characteristics of each risk assessment model of unimodal transportation,and a novel detailed classification is proposed for the risk assessment problems.The results indicate that the research on the risk assessment model of road transportation of hazardous materials is comprehensive,whereas that based on the railway and intermodal transportations is deficient.In comparison with the traditional risk assessment model,the conditional value-at-risk model presents a flexible decision-making framework for decision-makers and controls risk preference between risk neutrality and risk aversion.Owing to the difficulty in achieving door-to-door railway transportation and the increased risks associated with the intermodal transportation,the conclusion that the risk of railway and multimodal transportation of hazardous materials is lower than that of road transportation is not universal.Transport operators and governments can combine the advantages of different transportation modes,such as low risk,low cost,high flexibility,and high reliability,to achieve public safety and improve the competence of the system.Based on the proposed classification,this review identifies the existing trends and research gaps and summarizes future research directions.

In current years,the improvement of deep learning has brought about tremendous changes:As a type of unsupervised deep learning algorithm,generative adversarial networks(GANs)have been widely employed in various fields including transportation.This paper reviews the development of GANs and their applications in the transportation domain.Specifically,many adopted GAN variants for autonomous driving are classified and demonstrated according to data generation,video trajectory prediction,and security of detection.To introduce GANs to traffic research,this review summarizes the related techniques for spatio-temporal,sparse data completion,and time-series data evaluation.GAN-based traffic anomaly inspections such as infrastructure detection and status monitoring are also assessed.Moreover,to promote further development of GANs in intelligent transportation systems(ITSs),challenges and noteworthy research directions on this topic are provided.In general,this survey summarizes 130 GAN-related references and provides comprehensive knowledge for scholars who desire to adopt GANs in their scientific works,especially transportation-related tasks.

In this paper,the application of transportation systems in realtime traffic conditions is evaluated with data handling representations.The proposed method is designed in such a way as to detect the number of loads that are present in a vehicle where functionality tasks are computed in the system.Compared to the existing approach,the design model in the proposed method is made by dividing the computing areas into several cluster regions,thereby reducing the complex monitoring system where control errors are minimized.Furthermore,a route management technique is combined with Artificial Intelligence(AI)algorithm to transmit the data to appropriate central servers.Therefore,the combined objective case studies are examined as minimization and maximization criteria,thus increasing the efficiency of the proposed method.Finally,four scenarios are chosen to investigate the projected design’s effectiveness.In all simulated metrics,the proposed approach provides better operational outcomes for an average percentage of 97,thereby reducing the amount of traffic in real-time conditions.

Planning and scheduling is one of the most important activity in supply chain operation management.Over the years,there have been multiple researches regarding planning and scheduling which are applied to improve a variety of supply chains.This includes two commonly used methods which are mathematical programming models and heuristics algorithms.Flowshop manufacturing systems are seen normally in industrial environments but few have considered certain constraints such as transportation capacity and transportation time within their supply chain.A two-stage flowshop of a single processing machine and a batch processing machine are considered with their capacity and transportation time between twomachines.The objectives of this research are to build a suitable mathematical model capable of minimizing the maximum completion time,to propose a heuristic optimization algorithm to solve the problem,and to develop an applicable program of the heuristics algorithm.AMixed Integer Programming(MIP)model and a heuristics optimization algorithmwas developed and tested using a randomly generated data set for feasibility.The overall results and performance of each approach was compared between the two methods that would assist the decision maker in choosing a suitable solution for their manufacturing line.

Purpose-In an increasingly interconnected world,transportation infrastructure has emerged as a critical determinant of economic growth and global competitiveness.High-speed rail(HSR),characterized by its exceptional speed and efficiency,has garnered widespread attention as a transformative mode of transportation that transcends borders and fosters economic development.The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore(KL-SG)HSR project stands as a prominent exemplar of this paradigm,symbolizing the potential of HSR to serve as a catalyst for national economic advancement.Design/methodologylapproach-This paper is prepared to provide an insight into the benefits and advantages of HSR based on proven case studies and references from global HSRs,including China,Spain,France and Japan.Findings-The findings that have been obtained focus on enhanced connectivity and accessibility,attracting foreign direct investment,revitalizing regional economies,urban development and city regeneration,boosting tourism and cultural exchange,human capital development,regionai integration and environmental and sustainability benefits.Originality/value-The KL-SG HSR,linking Kuala Lumpur and Singapore,epitomizes the potential for HSR to be a transformative agent in the realm of economic development.This project encapsulates the aspirations of two dynamic Southeast Asian economies,united in their pursuit of sustainable growth,enhanced connectivity and global competitiveness.By scrutinizing the KLSG High-Speed Rail through the lens of economic benchmarking,a deeper understanding emerges of how such projects can drive progress in areas such as cross-border trade,tourism,urban development and technological innovation.

Computational Strategy Research on the Development of Kiruna,in Sweden

In Kiruna,nearly all the residents support the migration plan in order to make LKAB able to continue the mining process.Based on current condition,a larger part of this town will be demolished by the sinking land caused by iron ore mining processing operated by LKAB.Since then,most of the buildings in the sinking district will be relocated in another district.However,the situation in Kiruna is not quite the same as when this kind of migration happens in another place.In other place,while migration happens,even if not most,a large part of the local residents will resist and fight for their house and properties.Concentrated on the ownership of different buildings and tried find the relationship between the public and private buildings to discover some issue that will help to work on the computational urban design.

Backgrounds Various models have been applied to predict the trend of the epidemic since the outbreak of COVID-19.Methods:In this study,we designed a dynamic graph model,not for precisely predicting the number of infected cases,but for a glance of the dynamics under a public epidemic emergency situation and of different contributing factors・Results^We demonstrated the impact of asymptomatic transmission in this outbreak and showed the effectiveness of city lockdown to halt virus spread within a city.We further illustrated that sudden emergence of a large number of cases could overwhelm the city medical system,and external medical aids are critical to not only containing the further spread of the virus but also reducing fatality.Conclusions Our model simulation showed that highly populated modern cities are particularly vulnerable and lessons learned in China could facilitate other countries to plan the proactive and decisive actions・We shall pay close attention to the asymptomatic transmission being suggested by rapidly accumulating evidence as dramatic changes in quarantine protocol are required to contain SARS・CoV・2 from spreading globally.
