Strong coupling with absorption and emission features of Ag@Au hollow nanoshells interacting with J-aggregated dye molecules

We investigate the strong coupling from 5,5’,6,6’-tetrachloro-1,1’-diethyl-3,3’-di(4-sulfobutyl)-benzimidazolocarbocyanine(TDBC)molecules near pure nano-triangular Ag prisms or Ag@Au hollow *** TDBC molecules are deposited on pure Ag nanoprisms or Ag@Au hollow nanoshells with the plasmonic resonance peak,matching very closely with the absorption band of TDBC J-aggregates,obvious Rabi splitting can be observed due to the strong coupling ***,the photoluminescence intensity decreased with the increasing of the temperature,verifying the decreasing plasmon-exciton coupling interaction in the higher *** experimental results are coincident with the simulation results calculated by finite-difference time-domain method.

Highly efficient and stable electrooxidation of methanol and ethanol on 3D Pt catalyst by thermal decomposition of In2O3 nanoshells

In this paper In2O3nanoshells have been synthesized via a facile hydrothermal approach. The nanoshells can be completely cracked into pony-size nanocubes by annealing, which are then used as a support of Pt catalyst for methanol and ethanol electrocatalytic oxidation. The prepared In2O3and supported Pt catalysts (Pt/In2O3) were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), field effect scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), chronoamperometry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were carried out, indicating the excellent catalytic performance for alcohol electrooxidation can be achieved on Pt/In2O3nanocatalysts due to the multiple active sites, high conductivity and a mass of microchannels and micropores for reactant diffusions arising from 3D frame structures compared with that on the Pt/C catalysts. © 2016 Science Press

In vivo imaging of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury remains an important *** injected porous Ag/Au@SiO_(2) bimetallic hollow nanoshells carrying anti-tropomyosin 4 as a molecular probe into mice with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury and observed microvascular changes in the brain using photoacoustic imaging with *** each measured time point,the total photoacoustic signal was significantly higher on the affected side than on the healthy *** hours after reperfusion,cerebral perfusion on the affected side increased,cerebrovascular injury worsened,and anti-tropomyosin 4 expression ***-four hours after reperfusion and later,perfusion on the affected side declined slowly and stabilized after 1 week;brain injury was also *** and immunohistochemical examinations confirmed the brain injury tissue *** nanoshell molecular probe carrying anti-tropomyosin 4 has potential for use in early diagnosis of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury and evaluating its progression.

Experimental Validation and Simulation of Fourier and Non-Fourier Heat Transfer Equation during Laser Nano-Phototherapy of Lung Cancer Cells: An <i>in Vitro</i>Assay

This paper investigated the numerical scheme extended to solve the hyperbolic non-Fourier form of bioheat transfer equation and the experimental trials were conducted to validate the numerical simulation. MNPs were prepared via co-precipitation and modified with a silica layer. The amino modified Fe3O4/SiO2 nanoshells were covered with gold colloids producing nanoshells of Fe3O4/SiO2/Au (MNSs). In vitro assays were performed to determine the effect of apoptosis of QU-DB lung cancer cells based on the cells morphology changes. Cell damage was reduced by decreasing the power density of laser. Also, a larger area of damage on cell culture plates was observed at longer intervals of laser irradiation. The effect of nanoshell concentration and irradiation rate has been evaluated. A maximum temperature rise of 6°C was achieved at 184 W/cm2 and concentration of 0.01 mg/ml. The experiment confirmed a hyperbolic behaviour of thermal propagation. The results revealed that the three-dimensional implementation of bioheat equation is likely to be more accurate than the two-dimensional study.

Synthesis and Biomedical Application of SiO<sub>2</sub>/Au Nanofluid Based on Laser-Induced Surface Plasmon Resonance Thermal Effect

We described the synthesis of Au coated SiO2 nanoshells linked with NH2 biomolecular ligands using a simple wet chemical method with a particular application for laser tissue soldering. Tunable nanoshells were prepared by using different gold colloidal concentrations. The nanoshells are characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, FTIR, XRD and AFM. The FTIR results confirmed the functionalized surfaces of silica nanoparticles with NH2 terminal groups. A broad absorption was observed between 470 - 600 nm with a maximum range between 530 - 560 nm. Based on the XRD results three main peaks of Au (111), (200) and (220) were identified. In addition, AFM results showed that the diameter of silica core was between 90 - 110 nm with gold shell thickness between 10 - 30 nm. A possible tissue soldering using gold nanoshells and laser-induced thermal effect based on surface plasmon resonance is demonstrated. In our case this corresponds to 90?C (i.e. below vaporization) using the higher gold concentration (2 ml) at 60 W·cm–2.
