Optimizing rural settlements is an important measure to cope with rural decline, and improve the quality of rural life and attractions. This study introduces the "life quality theory". Based on the mechanisms governing the interactions between rural settlement space and life quality, this study examines how to optimize the spatial organization of rural settlements. Three aspects are evaluated – the integration of rural settlement spatial functions, optimization of spatial structure, and regulation of spatial scale – with the objective of building an optimization mode and framework for the spatial organization of rural settlements with high life quality. Our results suggest the following:(1) The settlement is the spatial carrier of life quality, which is an essential settlement component, and these two aspects influence and improve each other. Therefore, reasonable rural settlement space is an important precondition for higher life quality.(2) The spatial function types of rural settlements can be divided into those that maintain livelihoods, develop industry, and upgrade life quality. Optimizing spatial organization of rural settlements based on life quality requires promoting the maintenance of livelihood, integration of industrial development, and implantation in quality improvement.(3) There are two important components of optimizing the spatial organization of rural settlements. One is promoting the organic concentration of living, agricultural, and industrial spaces, the reasonable distribution of social intercourse, recreational, and services spaces, and the organic balance of living, production, and ecological spaces, so as to reasonably optimize the combination of internal spatial types in settlements. The other is forming a functional structure level of a "comprehensive village–featured village" and building spatial organization settlement modes connected by rural roads by relocating and adjusting the function of villages. Background/Study Context To study the life quality of the inpatients suffering from elderly degenerative lumbar disease and its impacting factors.Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted.All of the 125 patients were assessed by World Health Organization quality of life Instruments(WHOQOL-BREF).Convenience sampling method was employed.The data was analyzed by STATA-10.0 using t-test.Results The t-test showed that participants with lesser pain had a higher life quality in physiology,psychology,and social fields than those with stronger pain.The t-test showed that the life quality of the inpatients could be impacted significantly by appetite and self-evaluation of health as well.Inpatients with poor self-evaluation demonstrated a significantly low life quality in physiology,psychology,and environment fields(plife quality in all of the four fields(plife quality of the senile patients suffering from degenerative lumbar diseases.

AIM: To determine the vision-related quality-of-life of glaucoma patients and the association between clinical and socioeconomic factors, and vision-related quality-of-life.METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study. Consecutive patients with glaucoma were interviewed using a modified 25-item National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire(VFQ-25) by a single interviewer. Statistical analysis was done to find associations between patient variables and vision-related quality-of-life scores. Confidentiality and anonymity were maintained.RESULTS: Ninety-six participants were recruited in the study. There were 44 males and the mean age for males and females was 65.7 and 69.5y, respectively. The mean composite score was 71.2(with a maximum possible score of 100), with the highest mean score in the colour vision subscale(89.8) and the lowest mean score in the driving subscale(34.0). Worse visual acuity(Pquality-of-life in Jamaican glaucoma patients is comparable to that of glaucoma patients in the Barbados Eye Study and other international studies using the VFQ-25 questionnaire. Worse quality-of-life scores are associated with poorer visual acuity, longer duration of glaucoma, more glaucoma medications, and sociodemographic factors such as male gender and rural residence.

Analysis of the Impact of City Transport on life quality in the City of Szczecin

Objective:We assessed the life quality of adult supratentorial superficial low-grade glioma（ASS-LGG） patients according to Karnofsky Performance Scale（KPS） and analyzed the relevant factors.Some benefit factors were found through this research to guide the therapeutic strategy and improve the patients’ prognosis after glioma surgery.Method:One hundred and four adults with ASS-LGG were collected and analyzed retrospectively from 2008 to 2009.The follow-up time was from three months to half of a year.The logistic regression was used to discuss the relationship between the life quality after surgery according to KPS and the impact factors such as age,gender,operation time,size and location of the tumor,degree of resection,and tumor grade before surgery.Result:We found that four out of ten candidate factors have pertinence with the improvement of the life quality after surgery.They are age more than 40 years,the size of tumor less than 5cm,tumor located in the right hemisphere and limited resection of tumor in functional area.Conclusions:It’s seems more significant to judge ASS-LGG patients’ prognosis on the base of life quality because of the patients’ long-time survival.To ASS-LGG patients,we could predict the life quality according to KPS after surgery depending on the patients’ age,and size and location of the tumor.It is benefit to the improvement of life quality if the tumor is resected at early stage.Relieving the size of the tumor and acquiring the pathological diagnosis should be recommended instead of the en bloc resection in functional area.

Whole-process case management effects on mental state and selfcare ability in patients with liver cancer

BACKGROUND Regarding the incidence of malignant tumors in China,the incidence of liver cancer ranks fourth,second only to lung,gastric,and esophageal cancers.The case fatality rate ranks third after lung and cervical cancer.In a previous study,the whole-process management model was applied to patients with breast cancer,which effectively reduced their negative emotions and improved treatment adherence and nursing satisfaction.METHODS In this single-center,randomized,controlled study,60 randomly selected patients with liver cancer who had been admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to January 2022 were randomly divided into an observation group(n=30),who received whole-process case management on the basis of routine nursing mea-sures,and a control group(n=30),who were given routine nursing measures.We compared differences between the two groups in terms of anxiety,depression,the level of hope,self-care ability,symptom distress,sleep quality,and quality of life.RESULTS Post-intervention,Hamilton anxiety scale,Hamilton depression scale,memory symptom assessment scale,and Pittsburgh sleep quality index scores in both groups were lower than those pre-intervention,and the observation group had lower scores than the control group(Pquality of life measurement scale for patients with liver cancer scores in both groups were higher than those pre-intervention,with higher scores in the observation group compared with the control group(Pquality,and quality of life,as well as provide feasible nursing alternatives for patients with liver cancer.

Evaluation of life quality and Dyspnea Intensity on Chronic Airway Diseases Patients in Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program

The chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma are chronic airway diseases that cause considerable physical, emotional and social restrictions. The life quality of patients who suffer from these diseases, is more affected by dyspnea then by other symptoms. That way is possible to correlate the impact of dyspnea on their life quality. The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program (PRP) helps to improve the physical fitness and quality of life. This paper presents a study of the life quality and the dyspnea intensity in chronic lung disease patients. The research has participation of fourteen patients, distributed as seven suffering from COPD and the other seven suffering from asthma, for both gender and with an age average of 74.2 ± 8.9. The patients answer the following questionnaires: Baseline Dyspnea Index (BDI), Medical Research Council (MRC) Dyspnea Scale, Airways Questionnaire 20 (AQ20) and the Brazilian version of the Short-Form (SF-36) life quality questionnaire. From the present study, it was concluded that asthma patients have a less impaired life quality, since the dyspnea intensity is lesser, compared to the one with COPD.
