Despite the current acceleration and increasing leadership of Chinese genetics research,genetics and its clinical application have largely been imported to China from the *** genetics nor the scientifc reductionism underpinning its clinical application is integral to the traditional Chinese *** that disease concepts and their incumbent diagnoses are historically derived and culturally meaningful,we hypothesize that the cultural expectations of genetic diagnoses and medical genetics practice differ between the Occident and ***,we suggest that an undiagnosed diseases program in China will differ from the recently established Undiagnosed Diseases Program at the United States National Institutes of Health;a culturally sensitive concept will integrate traditional Chinese understanding of disease with the scientifc reductionism of Occidental medicine.

In the 21st century,the communication between countries becomes more and more frequent,and the requirements for translators become higher and higher,which requests that translators should master professional knowledge and improve their professional *** the color words appear more and more frequently in international communication and the meaning of color words vary due to differences in geographical location,religious belief,language habits,etc.,it will be easy to cause misunderstandings if translators fail to understand the connotation of color words and apply appropriate *** on this,the paper summarizes some effective translation methods by taking the common usage of six color words as the entry point and combining the differences between Chinese and English geography and religion.

This paper analyzes cultural differences of English and Chinese in terms of Seven Types of Meaning . It proceeds from the theory of Leech’s Seven Types of meaning , then comparatively illustrates with analysis of each type of meaning and cultural differences. And concludes with the cause of cultural differences and problems of it in cross-cultural communication with the hope that Chinese student could avoid Chinglish in learning and both Chinese and foreigners could avoid cultural shock when communicating with each other.

Language is the bearer of culture,and idioms are heavily culturally loaded phrases and sentences. Idioms are the essence of language as they carry distinctive cultural features. To translate English idioms involves obstacles,for Chinese idioms and English idioms carry distinct features. Each idiom bears an image and a figurative meaning. Figurative meaning is the real meaning the writer or the speaker wants to express,so it is much more important than image. When an idiom is being translated,it’s a basic requirement that its figurative meaning should be remained. Guided by this principle,this thesis explores the methods of how to translate idioms. This research had great significance in handling well idioms in translation and cross-cultural communication.

cultural difference is one of the greatest hinders in the intercultural communication. This thesis focuses on displaying cultural differences of etiquette in nonverbal communication. It lays emphasis on the comparisons in China (mainly Han Nationality) and Western (mainly Britain and American) as well as the different culture backgrounds that bring about the etiquette variations. These comparative analyses help people smooth the paths of social intercourse and establish pleasant, comfortable, and cooperative relationships.

With the rapid development of economic trade between China and the U.S., business contacts of the two countries become much frequently and the importance of business negotiation etiquette becomes obvious. This paper emphasizes the cultural differences in business negotiation etiquette, makes an effort to highlight the reasons, conflicts and impacts on business negotiation. At last, the paper puts forward several suggestions in reconciling cultural differences in order to make negotiations develop smoothly. It can be concluded that the study on business etiquette between east and west from the point of cultural differences, taking China and the United States as an example, is beneficial to enhance negotiators’ awareness in cultural differences, cultivation in etiquette and mutual understanding in negotiation and also is the key to successful business contacts in cross-culture.
