Oxidative stress occurs when crop plants are exposed to extreme abiotic conditions that lead to the excessive production and accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS).Those extreme abiotic conditions or stresses include drought,high temperature,heavy metals,salinity,and ultraviolet radiation,and they cause yield and quality losses in *** are highly reactive species found in nature that can attack plant organelles,metabolites,and molecules by interrupting various metabolic pathways until cell death *** have evolved defense mechanisms for the production of antioxidants to detoxify the ROS and to protect the plant against oxidative *** researches in crop plants revealed that low levels of ROS act as a signal which induces tolerance to environmental extremes by altering the expression of defensive *** this review,we summarized the processes involved in ROS production in response to several types of abiotic stress in cotton ***,we discussed the achievements in the understanding and improving oxidative stress tolerance in cotton in recent *** related to plant oxidative stresses have shown excellent potential for the development of stress-tolerant crops.

Calcium （Ca） plays a crucial role as a second messenger in intracellular signaling elicited by developmental and environmental cues. Calcineurin B-like proteins （CBLs） and their target proteins, CBL-interacting protein kinases （CIPKs） have emerged as a key Ca^2＋-mediated signaling network in response to stresses in plants. Bioinformatic analysis was used to identify 43 putative ZmC1PK （Zea mays CIPK） genes in the genome of maize inbred line B73. Based on gene structures, these ZmCIPKs were divided into intron-rich and intron-poor groups. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that the ZmCIPK family had a high evolutionary relationship with the rice CIPK family of 30 members. Microarray data and RT-PCR assay showed that ZrnCIPK genes transcriptionally responded to abiotic stresses, and that 24, 31, 20 and 19 ZmCIPK genes were up-regulated by salt, drought, heat and cold stresses, respectively. There were different expression patterns of ZmCIPKs between cold-tolerant inbred line B73 and cold-sensitive inbred line Mo17 under cold stress. Our findings will aid further molecular dissection of biological functions of the CIPKs in maize, and provide new insight into the CBL--CIPK signaling network in plants.

Cytochrome P450 s(P450 s) plays an important role in maintaining redox homeostasis and in protecting organisms from the accumulation of toxic reactive oxygen species(ROS).In this study,we sequenced and characterized a P450 s gene(AccCYP4 AV1)from Apis cerana cerana,playing a critical role in maintaining *** open reading frame(ORF) of Acc4 AV1 is 1506 bp in length and encodes a predicted protein of 501 amino acids,57.84 kDa and an isoelectric point of 8.67.A quantitative RT-PCR analysis indicated that Acc4 AV1 was expressed higher in midgut than other tissues,with its highest expression occurring on the fifteenth day of the adult stage,followed by the first day of the larval ***,the expression of the Acc4 AV1 transcript was up-regulated by cold(4℃),ultraviolet radiation,H O,paraquat,and dichlorovos *** contrast,AccCYP4 AV1 transcription was down regulated by other abiotic stresses,including 44 ℃,deltamethrin,CdCl,and *** results were confirmed by the western blot ***,the recombinant AccCYP4 AV1 protein acted as a potent antioxidant that resisted paraquat-induced oxidative ***,when the AccCYP4 AV1 was knocked down by RNA interference,we observed that multiple oxidant genes(AccHSP22.6,AccSOD,AccTpxl,and AccTpx4) were down-regulated in the knockdown samples,and other genes(AccGST and AccTrx1) were ***(POD) and catalase(CAT) activity levels were up-regulated in the knockdown samples compared to the control *** findings suggest that the AccCYP4 AV1 protein is an antioxidant enzyme that may play a very significant role in antioxidant defense against ROS damage.

The synthesis of serine in rice is intangible, and little kinetic and structural information is available for most enzymes in the pathway. In this study, we carried out a comprehensive characteristic and phylogenetic analysis of three 3-phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase（PGDH） members in rice, as well as an analysis of their whole-life expression patterns. All of the OsPGDHs have three highly conserved motifs. The three genes were detected in all tissues and development stages in Nipponbare by qRT-PCR. Under abiotic stresses, such as salt（150 mM NaCl）, drought（20% PEG 4000 simulation）, oxidation（10 mM H2O2） and low temperature（4±1 ℃）, the expressions of all OsPGDHs are significantly different. These investigations improve our understanding of the importance of the OsPGDH family and provide useful information about the phosphorylated serine biosynthesis pathway in rice.
