The severe dependence of traditional phase change materials(PCMs)on the temperature-response and lattice deficiencies in versatility cannot satisfy demand for using such materials in complex application scenarios.Here,we introduced metal ions to induce the Self-assembly of MXene nanosheets and achieve their ordered arrangement by combining suction filtration and rapid freezing.Subsequently,a series of MXene/K^(+)/paraffin wax(PW)phase change composites(PCCs)were obtained via vacuum impregnation in molten PW.The prepared MXene-based PCCs showed versatile applications from macroscale technologies,successfully transforming solar,electric,and magnetic energy into thermal energy stored as latent heat in the PCCs.Moreover,due to the absence of binder in the MXene-based aerogel,MK3@PW exhibits a prime solar-thermal conversion efficiency(98.4%).Notably,MK3@PW can further convert the collected heat energy into electric energy through thermoelectric equipment and realize favorable solar-thermal-electric conversion(producing 206 mV of voltage with light radiation intensity of 200 mw cm^(−2)).An excellent Joule heat performance(reaching 105℃with an input voltage of 2.5 V)and responsive magnetic-thermal conversion behavior(a charging time of 11.8 s can achieve a thermal insulation effect of 285 s)for contactless thermotherapy were also demonstrated by the MK3@PW.Specifically,as a result of the ordered arrangement of MXene nanosheet Self-assembly induced by potassium ions,MK3@PW PCC exhibits a higher electromagnetic shielding efficiency value(57.7 dB)than pure MXene aerogel/PW PCC(29.8 dB)with the same MXene mass.This work presents an opportunity for the multi-scene response and practical application of PCMs that satisfy demand of next-generation multifunctional PCCs.

Architecture Design and Interface Engineering of Self-assembly VS_(4)/rGO Heterostructures for Ultrathin Absorbent

The employment of microwave absorbents is highly desirable to address the increasing threats of electromagnetic pollution.Importantly,developing ultrathin absorbent is acknowledged as a linchpin in the design of lightweight and flexible electronic devices,but there are remaining unprecedented challenges.Herein,the Self-assembly VS_(4)/rGO heterostructure is constructed to be engineered as ultrathin microwave absorbent through the strategies of architecture design and interface engineering.The microarchitecture and heterointerface of VS_(4)/rGO heterostructure can be regulated by the generation of VS_(4) nanorods anchored on rGO,which can effectively modulate the impedance matching and attenuation constant.The maximum reflection loss of 2VS_(4)/rGO40 heterostructure can reach−43.5 dB at 14 GHz with the impedance matching and attenuation constant approaching 0.98 and 187,respectively.The effective absorption bandwidth of 4.8 GHz can be achieved with an ultrathin thickness of 1.4 mm.The far-reaching comprehension of the heterointerface on microwave absorption performance is explicitly unveiled by experimental results and theoretical calculations.Microarchitecture and heterointerface synergistically inspire multi-dimensional advantages to enhance dipole polarization,interfacial polarization,and multiple reflections and scatterings of microwaves.Overall,the strategies of architecture design and interface engineering pave the way for achieving ultrathin and enhanced microwave absorption materials.

Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)transplantation is a promising approach for pulmonary fibrosis(PF),however it is impeded by several persistent challenges,including the lack of long-term tracking,low retention,and poor survival of MSCs,as well as the low labeling efficiency of nanoprobes.Herein,a cobalt protoporphyrin IX(CoPP)aggregation-induced strategy is applied to develop a multifunctional nano-Self-assembly(ASCP)by combining gold nanoparticle(AuNPs),superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles(SPIONs),and CoPP through a facile solvent evaporation-driven approach.Since no additional carrier materials are employed during the synthesis,high loading efficiency of active ingredients and excellent biocompatibility are achieved.Additionally,facile modification of the ASCPs with bicyclo[6.1.0]nonyne(BCN)groups(named as ASCP-BCN)enables them to effectively label MSCs through bioorthogonal chemistry.The obtained ASCP-BCN could not only help to track MSCs with AuNP-based computed tomography(CT)imaging,but also achieve an SPIONs-assisted magnetic field based improvement in the MSCs retention in lungs as well as promoted the survival of MSCs via the sustained release of CoPP.The in vivo results demonstrated that the labeled MSCs improved the lung functions and alle-viated the fibrosis symptoms in a bleomycin–induced PF mouse model.Collectively,a novel ASCP-BCN multi-functional nanoagent was developed to bioorthogonally-label MSCs with a high efficiency,presenting a promising potential in the high-efficient MSC therapy for PF.

Immunogenic cell death(ICD) plays a major role in cancer immunotherapy by stimulating specific T cell responses and restoring the antitumor immune system.However,effective type Ⅱ ICD inducers without biotoxicity are still very limited.Herein,a tentative drug-or photo sensitizer-free strategy was developed by employing enzymatic Self-assembly of the peptide F-pY-T to induce mitochondrial oxidative stress in cancer cells.Upon dephosphorylation catalyzed by alkaline phosphatase overexpressed on cancer cells,the peptide F-pY-T self-assembled to form nanoparticles,which were subsequently internalized.These affected the morphology of mitochondria and induced serious reactive oxygen species production,causing the ICD characterized by the release of danger-associated molecular patterns(DAMPs).DAMPs enhanced specific immune responses by promoting the maturation of DCs and the intratumoral infiltration of tumor-specific T cells to eradicate tumor cells.The dramatic immunotherapeutic capacity could be enhanced further by combination therapy of F-pY-T and anti-PD-L1 agents without visible biotoxicity in the main organs.Thus,our results revealed an alternative strategy to induce efficient ICD by physically promoting mitochondrial oxidative stress.

Mesoporous polymers combine the advantages of polymer materials(abundant polar functional groups,lightweight,flexibility,and processability)and mesoporous structures(high specific surface area,adjustable pore structure,and large pore volume);hence,they have great application potential in sensing,adsorption,catalysis,energy storage,biomedicine,etc.Currently,developing advanced synthetic strategies for mesoporous polymers and investigating their intrinsic applications have become hot research topics.Soft-template-based Self-assembly is regarded as a promising approach for synthesizing mesoporous polymers.This work reviews recent progress in the synthetic strategy for producing various mesoporous polymers using soft-template selfassembly,focusing on the synthesis of conductive polymers,phenol-based polymers,and resin-based polymers and their potential applications.Finally,perspectives on future applications of mesoporous polymers,along with a few challenges that need to be resolved,are also discussed in this review.

Enzymatic Self-assembly/disassembly turns “ON”/“OFF” the mimetic hydrolytic activity of histidine nanofibers

Mimetic enzymes are devised as alternates or supplements of natural enzymes in broad fields but regulating their activities in a switchable manner remains challenging.Herein,we proposed an enzymatic Self-assembly/disassembly strategy to address this issue.A peptide molecule Nap FFEYIH(YH) was rationally designed which,after self-assembling into nanofibers,lined up the histidine moieties to form active hydrolysis centers for mimicking hydrolase activity.Enzymatic dephosphorylation of Nap FFEYp IH(Yp H) by alkaline phosphatase to yield YH also turned “ON” the hydrolase activity.In turn,phosphorylation of YH by phosphokinase epidermal growth factor receptor to yield Yp H disassembled the nanofibers and thus turned the activity “OFF”.As such,the “ON”/“OFF” of the mimetic hydrolase activities could be regulated under physiological conditions through ALP/EGFR-mediated Self-assembly/disassembly of histidine nanofibers.This work provides a feasible strategy for the on-demand fabrication of artificial enzymes with controllable and superior activities.

Carrier-free multi-component self-assembled nano-systems have attracted widespread attention owing to their easy preparation,high drug-loading efficiency,and excellent therapeutic efficacy.Herein,MnAs-ICG nanospike was generated by Self-assembly of indocyanine green(ICG),manganese ions(Mn^(2+)),and arsenate(AsO_(4)^(3−))based on electrostatic and coordination interactions,effectively integrating the bimodal imaging ability of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and fluorescence(FL)imaging-guided synergistic therapy of photothermal/chemo/chemodynamic therapy within an“all-in-one”theranostic nano-platform.The as-prepared MnAs-ICG nanospike had a uniform size,well-defined nanospike morphology,and impressive loading capacities.The MnAs-ICG nanospike exhibited sensitive responsiveness to the acidic tumor microenvironment with morphological transformation and dimensional variability,enabling deep penetration into tumor tissue and on-demand release of functional therapeutic components.In vitro and in vivo results revealed that MnAs-ICG nanospike showed synergistic tumor-killing effect,prolonged blood circulation and increased tumor accumulation compared to their individual components,effectively resulting in synergistic therapy of photothermal/chemo/chemodynamic therapy with excellent anti-tumor effect.Taken together,this new strategy might hold great promise for rationally engineering multifunctional theranostic nano-platforms for breast cancer treatment.

Efficient conversion of lignin waste and Self-assembly synthesis of C@MnCo_(2)O_(4)for asymmetric supercapacitors with high energy density

Lignin waste from the papermaking and biorefineries industry is a significantly promising renewable resource to prepare advanced carbon materials for diverse applications,such as the electrodes of supercapacitors;however,the improvement of their energy density remains a challenge.Here,we design a green and universal approach to prepare the composite electrode material,which is composed of lignin-phenolformaldehyde resins derived hierarchical porous carbon(LR-HPC)as conductive skeletons and the Self-assembly manganese cobaltite(MnCo_(2)O_(4))nanocrystals as active sites.The synthesized C@MnCo_(2)O_(4)composite has an abundant porous structure and superior electronic conductivity,allowing for more charge/electron mass transfer channels and active sites for the redox reactions.The composite shows excellent electrochemical performance,such as the maximum specific capacitance of~726 mF cm^(-2)at 0.5 mV s^(-1),due to the significantly enhanced interactive interface between LR-HPC and MnCo_(2)O_(4)crystals.The assembled all-solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor,with the LR-HPC and C@MnCo_(2)O_(4)as cathode and anode,respectively,exhibits the highest volumetric energy density of 0.68 mWh cm^(-3)at a power density of 8.2 mW cm^(-3).Moreover,this device shows a high capacity retention ratio of~87.6%at 5 mA cm^(-2)after 5000 cycles.

pH Induced Self-assembly of AIE Fluorescent Probe for Tumor Imaging

This work reported an AIE fluorescent probe for tumor imaging based on the p H induced Self-assembly strategy. The fluorescent probe was composed of an acid-responsive soluble copolymer PEG-b-PAMA-DMMA with a maleic acid amide group and an anionic soluble aggregation-induced emission fluorogen(AIEgen) TPE-2SO_(3)^(-). The polymer could be transformed into a protonated amine-containing polymer after the hydrolysis of maleic acid amide in acidic tumor microenvironment, which would be further self-assembled with TPE-2SO_(3)^(-)to form aggregated nanoparticles. The transition of TPE-2SO_(3)^(-)from dispersed state to aggregated state led to an obvious increase in fluorescence intensity due to its AIE characteristics.

The construction of complex superlattices using homogenous soft matter has great potential for the bottom-up fabrication of complex,nanoscale structures.This topic is not only interested in scientific exploring for new concepts of supramolecular crystals with nanometer in sizes,which is about thousand times larger in volumes than those of normal crystals,but also practically important to provide construction principles of metamaterials which are artificially structured materials for controlling and manipulating light,sound,and other physical behaviors.These systems have fast assembly kinetics and convenient processing procedures,making them ideal for large-scale superlattice production.In this perspective,we focus on recent developments in the construction of complex spherical packing superlattices using homogenous soft self-assemblies.We discuss the general mechanism of those formations of supramolecular motifs and provide an overview of the spherical packing superlattices self-assembled by homogenous soft matters based on different volume asymmetry.Additionally,we outline the potentials of utilizing this approach in constructing novel superlattices as well as its future challenges.
