Monitoring changes in the epidemiologic features between different severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)variants is key to understanding the evolution of viral fitness in the host population.Here,we analyzed a successfully contained local outbreak of the Delta variant that took place in Hunan,China,in July–August,2021.Detailed data on SARS-CoV-2 infections and their contacts were collected during the outbreak.By leveraging these data,we estimated key epidemiological parameters,including the incubation period,serial interval,and generation time.We constructed a generalized linear mixed-effects model(GLMM)to quantify risk factors for Delta infection and transmission.Between July 28 and August 15,2021,a total of 129 infections and their 2,118 close contacts were identified during the outbreak in Hunan Province.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has affected over twenty million people worldwide since its outbreak,[1]in which approximately 19%are expected to progress to severe or critical disease,constituting the high-risk group for death.[2]The reported case-fatality rates among the severe COVID-19 varied a lot across different regions from zero to 61.5%[1,3]and the reason behind remained unclear.Very limited data concerning management of severe cases were reported from low case-fatality areas.In this study,we described the clinical features,multi-strategy management,and respiratory support resources usage for the severe COVID-19 in Sichuan Province,where the 28-day case-fatality rate was 0.6%in all patients and 3.7%in severe cases,which was much lower compared with that reported in most of the studies worldwide.

Screening for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)virus,also known as SARS-CoV-2,infection every seven days was performed for high-risk populations who worked at the Yantian Port in Yantian District,Shenzhen City,Guangdong Province.On May 20,2021,an oropharyngeal swab from a 44-year-old male(Case A)tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19 by a quantitative real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR)method in a third-party laboratory.

Purpose: An analysis and identification of the hidden relationships between effective factors in the mortality rate caused by road accidents in Fars Province of Iran to prevent and reduce traffic accidents in the future. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted to integrate all the pervious researches performed on mortality rate of road traffic accidents in Fars Province from March 21,2013 to March 20,2017. In order to reveal the relationships between the factors affecting mortality rates of road traffic accidents, the data regarding road traffic accidents extracted from resources such as Legal Medicine Organization, Traffic Police, Accident & Emergency Department, as well as Department of Roads and Urban Development of Fars Province, then cleaned and the applicable attributes embedded in the data all aggregated for further analysis. It should be noted that the data not related to Fars Province were deleted, the data analyzed, converted and the aggregation between various attributes identified. The aggregation between these different attributes as well as the FP-growth algorithm and two indexes of support and confidence calculated and interesting and effective rules extracted. In the end, several accident-p「ovoking factors, the degree of consecutive and interdepende nee of each one in road accide nts identified and in traduced. The statistical analysis was conducted by using Rapid Miner software. Results: Of the 6216 people dead due to road traffic accidents, 4865 (79.02%) were male and 1292 (20.98%) were female, 59 of them have no clear gender. The largest portion of people died of road traffic accidents belonged to married and self-employed men who collided with motorcycles in autumn. Moreover, young individuals (aged 19-40 years) w让h secondary educational level who died of accidents in summer at 12:00 a.m. and then 5:00 p.m. in outer city main roads of Kazerun-Shiraz, then Darab- Shiraz, Fasa-Darab and in within-city main streets had the highest mortality rates. To the Editor:Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),a large number of healthcare workers(HCWs)volunteered to leave their familiar working and living environments to travel to Hubei Province to undertake emergency response work.For most medical workers who traveled to Hubei Province,this was their first time participating in such a crisis situation.Previous studies have reported that HCWs face a double blow of high-intensity work and high psychological pressure,making them particularly prone to mental health difficulties.

Since coastal areas have highly dynamic nature and are one of the most beneficial regions of civilizations,it is of great significance to understand their characteristics and behavior.Changes in shorelines in the form of accretion and erosion can leave devastating effects on businesses and cities located along the shore.In this study,we statistically calculated the tendency of shoreline changes by processing and analyzing historical satellite images of Boushehr Province,Iran.Results show that these shores have experienced both sedimentation and erosion in the past 30 *** shoreline movement presents more than 350 m of erosion and 650 m of accretion,which are corresponded to change rates of almost 12 and 22 m/a,respectively.Statistics of shoreline changes are calculated from regression methods including end point rate,linear regression rate,weighted linear regression,and least median of squares.The best-performed method is applied to predict the shoreline position in 2050 and 2100.Potential locations of excessive changes are identified for the predicted shorelines,which should be dealt with properly.

Despite continuous studies on the cryptic diversity of the Diploderma flaviceps complex in Southwest China for the pastdecade, little attention has been given to other widespreadcongeners in China. Combining both morphological and phylogenetic data, we describe a new species of Diplodermafrom populations identified previously as D. dymondi in thelower Yalong River Basin in southern Sichuan Province. Thenew species is morphologically most similar to D. dymondiand D. varcoae, but it can be differentiated by a considerablegenetic divergence and a suite of morphological characters,including having taller nuchal crest scales, smaller tympana,and a distinct oral coloration. Additionally, we discuss otherputative species complexes within the genus Diploderma inChina.

DEAR EDITOR, A new blind loach species, Triplophysa erythraea sp. nov., from a karst cave in Hunan Province, central south China, is described based on morphology and cyt b gene sequencing. It can be distinguished from other species of Triplophysa by the following combi nation of characters: eyes absent;body scaleless and colorless;caudal-fin 17;maxillary barbel Ion gest;fins tran sparent, compressed pectoral-fin reachi ng 2/3 distanee between pectoral-fin and pelvic-fin origins;pelvicfin and dorsal-fin origins relative;posterior chamber of airbladder well developed, Iong, oval, and dissociative.

Multiple cropping index(MCI)is a very important indicator in crop production and agricultural intensification,which represents the utilizing degree of agriculture resources at time scale and the effective utilization situation of arable land.The objective of this paper is monitoring multiple cropping index of Henan Province of China according to the time series of MODIS(Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer)EVI(Enhanced Vegetation Index)after Savitzky-Golay filter processing from the year 2006 to 2011.The results revealed that this method could provide an effective way to monitor multiple cropping index,and the method of no additional authentication data is independent and reliable.The result was accurate and stable,the slope of linear regression of the multiple cropping index between the statistical results and the remote sensing results was 1.0136(R2=0.779).The precision of sample areas validation was 97.91%.Suggesting that the time series MODIS-EVI which after Savitzky-Golay filtering processed,could provide an effective way to extract spatial information of multiple cropping index for management department of agriculture.

The rare earth elements and high-field-strength elements(REE-HFSE)exploration sector conducts most evaluations at deposit and smaller scales.It is not evident how the sector performs a preceding exploration stage—rating and prioritising REE-HFSE mineralised Provinces—to determine which Provinces are prospective enough to warrant investment.Here we present an objective,repeatable,low-cost method to screen any REE-HFSE Province,as a foundation for district-scale investigations or asset evaluations.It is original for REE-HFSE screening,and adapted from regional scale copper,cobalt and petroleum exploration,and CO2 storage,screening methods.It is centred upon a mineralised Province’s favourability for potential value creation,and to identify:(a)its main information gaps;(b)its weakest links;(c)its exploration maturity and remaining potential category;(d)how it compares against other REE-HFSE Provinces;and(e)if further investigation is justified.This method incorporates geoscience,strategy,economic and socio-environmental factors in a way that is understandable and directly usable across stakeholder groups.The workflow is systematic,yet flexible enough to accommodate organisationspecific criteria,and usable for other commodities.It provides the platform to build a global REE-HFSE Province map and database consistently across national boundaries and organisations.Categories for the extent of Province exploration maturity and remaining mineral potential are proposed.We illustrate the applicability of these methods using the Gardar REE-HFSE Province(GRHP)of south Greenland.We conclude that it is a moderate size,frontier Province that is currently of questionable favourability for value creation.To move GRHP into a positive favourability class,its current weak links need strengthening by research,government policy and industry stakeholders:evaluate the mineral system;integrate all information geospatially and place it in the public domain;help the region improve some community health and safety issues;convert some mineral
