Studies for prevalence and causal relationship established that addressing comorbidities of mental illnesses with medical disease will be another revolution in psychiatry. Increasing number of evidence shows that there is a bidirectional connection between mood disorders and some medical diseases. Glucocorticoid/insulin signal mechanisms and immunoenflammatory effector systems are junction points that show pathophysiology between bipolar disorder and general medical situations susceptible to stress. A subgroup of mood disorder patients are under risk of developing obesity and diabetes. Their habits and life styles, genetic predisposition and treatment options are parameters that define this subgroup. Medical disease in adults had a significant relationship to adverse life experiences in childhood. This illustrates that adverse experiences in childhood are related to adult disease by two basic etiologic mechanisms:(1) conventional risk factors that actually are compensatory behaviors, attempts at selfhelp through the use of agents and foods; and(2) the effects of chronic stress.

＜正＞Objective To explore the association between mood disorder and polymorphism in the 3’untranslated region of 5-HTT gene in molecular genetics. Material and Methods The study selected mood disorder parent-offspring trios as research objects and investigated with self-editing family questionnaire according to Diagnostic Inve- stigation Genet Scale（DIGS） provided by Harvard University and adopting American Diagnostic Criterion DSM （Diagnostic and Manual of Mental disorder 4th）and combing with some psychological rating tools to reach phenotypes consistency. Agomelatine is a selective agonist of melatonin receptor 1A/melatonin receptor 1B(MT/MT)and antagonist of 5-hydroxytryptamine 2C *** is used clinically to treat major depressive episodes in *** pro-chronobiological activity of agomelatine reconstructs sleep-wake rhythms and normalizes circadian disturbances via its agonistic effect of melatonin receptor 1A/melatonin receptor 1B,which work simultaneously to counteract depression and anxiety ***,by antagonizing neocortical postsynaptic 5-hydroxytryptamine 2C receptors,agomelatine enhances the release of dopamine and noradrenaline in the prefrontal cortex,increases the activity of dopamine and noradrenaline,and thereby reduces depression and anxiety *** combination of these two effects means that agomelatine exhibits a unique pharmacological role in the treatment of depression,anxiety,and disturbance of the circadian *** and sleep are closely related to memory and cognitive *** disorder is defined as any forms of memory abnormality,which is typically evident in a broad range of neurodegenerative diseases,including Alzheimer’s *** impairment and cognitive impairment are common symptoms of neurodegenerative and psychiatric ***,whether agomelatine can improve memory and cognitive behaviors if used for alleviating depression and circadian-rhythm sleep disorders has become a research“hotspot”.This review presents the latest findings on the effects of agomelatine in the treatment of psychologic and circadian-rhythm sleep disorders in clinical trials and animal *** review evaluates recent studies on treatment of memory impairment and cognitive impairment in neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases.

The aim of this study was to investigate proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy metabolite values in the medial prefrontal cortex of individuals with euthymic bipolar disorder. The subjects consisted of 15 patients with euthymic bipolar disorder type I and 15 healthy controls. We performed proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy of the bilateral medial prefrontal cortex and measured levels of N-acetyl aspartate, choline and creatine. Levels of these three metabolites in the medial prefrontal cortex were found to be lower in patients with bipolar disorder compared with healthy controls. A positive correlation was found between illness duration and choline levels in the right medial prefrontal cortex. Our study suggests that during the euthymic period, there are abnormalities in cellular energy and membrane phospholipid metabolism in the medial prefrontal cortex, and that this may impair neuronal activity and integrity.

Proper regulation of synapse formation and elimination is critical for establishing mature neuronal circuits and maintaining brain *** abnormalities,such as defects in the density and morphology of postsynaptic dendritic spines,underlie the pathology of various neuropsychiatric *** 17(PCDH17)is associated with major mood disorders,including bipolar disorder and ***,the molecular mechanisms by which PCDH17 regulates spine number,morphology,and behavior remain *** this study,we found that PCDH17 functions at postsynaptic sites,restricting the number and size of dendritic spines in excitatory *** overexpression of PCDH17 in the ventral hippocampal CA1 results in spine loss and anxiety-and depression-like behaviors in ***,PCDH17 interacts with actin-relevant proteins and regulates actin filament(F-actin)***,PCDH17 binds to ROCK2,increasing its expression and subsequently enhancing the activity of downstream targets such as LIMK1 and the phosphorylation of cofilin serine-3(Ser3).Inhibition of ROCK2 activity with belumosudil(KD025)ameliorates the defective F-actin organization and spine structure induced by PCDH17 overexpression,suggesting that ROCK2 mediates the effects of PCDH17 on F-actin content and spine ***,these findings reveal a novel mechanism by which PCDH17 regulates synapse development and behavior,providing pathological insights into the neurobiological basis of mood disorders.

There is accumulating clinical evidence that chemotherapeutic agents induce neurological side effects, including memory deficits and mood disorders, in cancer patients who have undergone chemotherapeutic treatments. This review focuses on chemotherapy-induced neurodegeneration and hippocampal dysfunctions and related mechanisms as measured by in vivo and in vitro approaches. These investigations are helpful in determining how best to further explore the causa mechanisms of chemotherapy-induced neurological side effects and in providing direction for the future development of novel optimized chemotherapeutic agents.

AIM: To assess whether depression and anxiety are more expressed in patients with the first episode of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) than in individuals with newly discovered cancer of the colon (CCa). METHODS: A total of 32 patients with IBD including 13 males and 19 females, aged 27 to 74, and 30 patients with CCa including 20 males and 10 females, aged 39-78, underwent a structured interview, which comprised Hamilton’s Depression Rating Inventory, Hamilton’s Anxiety Rating Inventory and Paykel’s Stressful Events Rating Scale. RESULTS: Patients of the IBD group expressed both depression and anxiety. Depressive mood, sense of guilt, psychomotor retardation and somatic anxiety were also more pronounced in IBD patients. The discriminant function analysis revealed the total depressive score was of high importance for the classification of a newly diagnosed patient into one of the groups. CONCLUSION: Newly diagnosed patients with IBD have higher levels of depression and anxiety. Moreover, a psychiatrist in the treatment team is advisable from the beginning.

Objective：To investigate the correlation between obstetrical complications and depressive disorder. Methods：Depressive disorder probands and their adult sibling were diagnosed using CCMD-3 criteria. Obstetrical data from maternal reports were scored, applying published scales that take into account number and severity of complication. Results：The scores of obstetric complication and prenatal complications and low birth weight were significantly worse in probands than siblings without depressive disorders. Conclusion： Results suggest obstetric complications are etiologically significant in depressive disorder.
