Hundreds of leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinases （LRR-RLKs） play indispensable roles in a wide range of plant developmental and physiological processes. The mechanisms controlling LRR-RLKs at a basal and inactive status are essential but rarely studied. BKI1 is the only reported inhibitor of receptor kinases in Arabidopsis, which negatively regulates BRI1 in the brassinosteroid pathway. In this study, we found that BKI1 can also interact with another important LRR-RLK, erecta （ER）. Phenotypic analysis showed that BKI1 and ER together regulate plant architecture, including pedicel orientation, which is a newly reported phenotype in the BR- and ER-mediated developmental processes. Gene expression analysis revealed that BKI1 regulates a subset of ER-responsive genes. Kinase assays demonstrated that BKI1 inhibits ER kinase activity. In addition, the release of BKI1 inhibition on ER signaling relies largely on BRI1 activation. Our data provide significant insights into the regulation and activation of RLKs and suggest that BKI1 functions as a common suppressor of the BRI1 and ER signaling pathways.

Multiple receptor-like kinases （RLKs） enable intercellular communication that coordinates growth and development of plant tissues. erecta family receptors （ERfs） are an ancient family of leucine-rich repeat RLKs that in Arabidopsis consists of three genes： erecta, ERL1, and ERL2. ERfs sense secreted cysteine-rich peptides from the EPF/EPFL family and transmit the signal through a MAP kinase cascade. This review discusses the functions of ERfs in stomata development, in regulation of longitudinal growth of aboveground organs, during reproductive development, and in the shoot apical meristem. In addition the role of erecta in plant responses to biotic and abiotic factors is examined.

Reactive oxygen species （ROS） are harmful to all living organisms and therefore they must be removed to ensure normal growth and development. ROS are also signaling molecules, but so far little is known about the mecha- nisms of ROS perception and developmental response in plants. We here report that hydrogen peroxide induces cortex proliferation in the Arabidopsis root and that SPINDLY （SPY）, an O-linked glucosamine acetyltransferase, regulates cortex proliferation by maintaining cellular redox homeostasis. We also found that mutation in the leucine-rich receptor kinase erecta and its putative peptide ligand STOMAGEN block the effect of hydrogen peroxide on root cortex proliferation. However, erecta and STOMAGEN are expressed in the vascular tissue, whereas extra cortex cells are produced from the endodermis, suggesting the involvement of intercellular signaling~ SPY appears to act downstream of erecta, because the spy mutation still caused cortex proliferation in the erecta mutant background. We therefore have not only gained insight into the mechanism by which SPY regulates root development but also uncovered a novel pathway for ROS signal- ing in plants. The importance of redox-mediated cortex proliferation as a protective mechanism against oxidative stress is also discussed.

erecta(ER)是一种富含亮氨酸重复片段(LRR)的类受体激酶(RLKs)基因,RLKs可以参与多种信号通路并在植物发育早期细胞间信号传导中具有关键作用。植物中有少数核心信号通路参与调节植物生长发育中的不同方面,ER家族(ERfs)信号通路是这些核心信号之一,在植物的形态发生、花序形成和发育、生物胁迫和非生物胁迫的应答过程中都具有重要作用。尽管ERfs对于植物生长的正常发育是不可或缺的,但由于其功能众多,调控机制十分复杂,各个信号通路发生的组织部位与时间都不相同,使得研究ER信号网络变得困难。ER处于各个信号通路较为上游的位置,因此明确ER调控机制对研究植物生长发育和形态建成至关重要。本研究综述了ER蛋白的结构特点和在植物地上部分器官形态发育方面的功能,主要包括在气孔发育、花序结构发育、茎的伸长以及调节茎尖大小等方面的作用,阐述了不同调控过程中的上游配体以及下游通路,为深入研究ER功能和作用机制提供参考。

Objective:To investigate mosquitocidal effects of ethanolic extract of(lowers of Tagetes erecta(T.erecta) and its chloroform and petroleum ether soluble fractions against the larvae of Culex quinquefasciatus(Cx.quinquefasciatus).Methods:The fresh flowers of T.erecta were extracted in cold with ethanol(5.0 L) and after concentration,the ethanol extract was fractionated with chloroform and petroleum ether to afford a brownish syrupy suspension of ethanol extract(50.0 g),petroleum ether soluble fraction(18.6 g) and chloroform soluble fraction(23.8 g).The larvicidal effect of ethanol extract and their solvent fractions were determined by the standard procedure of WHO against different instars of Cx.quinquefasciatus.Results:Among the tested samples the chloroform soluble fractions showed the highest toxicity and consequently,the lowest LC_(50) values(14.14 μ g/mL,17.06 μ g/mL.36.88 μ g/mL and 75.48 μ g/mL) for all the instars larvae of Cx.quinquefasciatus.The larvae showed comparative tolerance in the course of increasing age and time.Conclusions:It can be concluded that the flowers of T.erecta are very effective natural larvicide and could be useful against Cx.quinquefasciatus.

Background: Thunbergia erecta (Acanthaceae) is the most abundant medicinal plant in different parts of Bangladesh where it is known as “nilghonta”. It has been used as traditional medicine for insomnia, depression and anxiety management. However, no scientific evidence of T. erecta belonging to neuropharmacological activity has been reported. The aim of present study was to investigate in vivo sedative and anxiolytic activities of methanol extract from the leaves of T. erecta in Swiss Albino mice. Methods: Sedative activity of METE was investigated using open field, hole cross and thiopental sodium-induced sleeping time test model whereas anxiolytic activity was screened by elevated-plus maze, light-dark box, hole-board and marble-burying test method in mice at 200 and 400 mg/kg doses. The acute toxicity study and phytochemical analysis of METE also carried out. Diazepam used as the positive control for the following behavioral pharmacology test. Results: METE exhibited significant (p Conclusion: The experimental result indicates T. erecta contains phytoconstituents that possess sedative and anxiolytic activity which traditionally used in insomnia, depression and anxiety management.

Bilateral Luxatio erecta: A Case Report

Luxatio erecta is a highly uncommon type of shoulder dislocation, representing approximately 0.5% of all shoulder dislocations fitting into this category. In this paper, we present the case of a patient who presented post trauma with bilateral inferior glenohumeral joint dislocations (also called Luxatio erecta). Considering that Luxatio erecta only has a 0.5% chance of being present with a unilateral dislocation, the probability of a patient presenting 2 of these dislocations at the same time is approximately 0.25% (0.5% × 0.5% = 0.25%). In addition to this, Luxatio erecta frequently presents with injuries to the brachial plexus and/or a humeral fracture. Despite this, neither of our patient’s dislocations were associated with any fractures or neurovascular injury and both were successfully reduced the Emergency Department. Both the patient’s presentation and outcome are quite uncommon, which makes this case an invaluable opportunity to go over the unique characteristics to Luxatio erecta.

葡萄erecta基因受高温诱导表达,且在葡萄的幼叶和花中表达量较高。为了研究葡萄erecta基因在植物生长发育和高温响应中的作用,将该基因在拟南芥中过表达,观察其表型变化和对高温的耐受性。结果表明,葡萄erecta基因过表达可以显著增加拟南芥叶片的长度、宽度和数量,花梗变细长,角果长度和株高显著增加。将拟南芥种子在高温处理后常温培养2 d,大部分Landsberg erecta(Ler)幼苗发育不正常,而过表达型ER-OE幼苗均未受到高温胁迫的影响。拟南芥植株在40℃高温处理4 d,ER-OE植株受胁迫程度较轻,叶片电导率的顺序为Ler>Col>ER-OE;在22℃恢复5 d后,Col、Ler和ER-OE的存活率分别为33%、12%和83%。erecta基因既可以提高植株的耐热性,又可以增加生长量,为培育葡萄抗性新品种提供了新的基因资源,在农业生产上有很好的应用前景。

以黄瓜品种‘长春密刺’(CCMC)为试材,利用高保真酶Iproof及不依赖于酶切的In-fusion技术,构建基于本底启动子驱动的黄瓜erecta基因的植物表达载体,以探讨erecta基因在黄瓜中的功能,以期为黄瓜抗性性状的遗传改良提供技术支持。结果表明:从CCMC的基因组DNA中克隆的2段gerecta(DNA序列)长度分别为8 940bp和9 812bp,并分别命名为Csgerecta-Flag和Csgerecta-Poly。经过质粒PCR、梯度片段PCR和测序结果的鉴定表明,pCAMBIA3301-gerecta的2个植物表达载体都已成功构建并转入根癌农杆菌EHA105中。
