Liquefied dimethyl ether as alternative extraction solvent for high 𝛾γ-oryzanol rice bran oil: Systematic HSP theory and experimental evaluation

This study aimed to systematically find an alternative solvent to replace hexane for the extraction of bio-oil with high𝛾-oryzanol content from rice bran(RB).The selection involved predicting solubility through Hansen solubility theory,experimental validation,determination of suitable extraction conditions,and comparison of oil quality with that of conventional hexane.A wide variety of solvents:subcritical water(SCW),supercritical carbon dioxide(SCCO_(2)),bio-based sol-vents(alcohols and terpenes),and liquefied dimethyl ether(LDME),were initially assessed for rice bran oil(RBO)and𝛾-oryzanol solubility using Hansen solubility *** demon-strating high solubility for both RBO and𝛾-oryzanol,including LDME,ethyl acetate,acetone,and others(alcohols and SCCO_(2))known for effective vegetable oil extraction,were selected/identified for experimental extraction *** these,LDME performed better overall,affording greater solubility and requiring less solvent,shorter duration,lower pressure,and no additional co-solvents for equivalent *** conditions for LDME extraction were identified as 30℃ with a solvent-to-sample ratio of 10 mL/g and an extraction time of 10 *** extracted with LDME and hexane displayed similar fatty acid compositions and no adverse effects on RB protein and carbohydrate structures after LDME extraction were *** study demon-strates LDME as a promising alternative to replace hexane for RBO extraction to further valorize this abundant low-cost RB residue into bio-oil and its𝛾γ-oryzanol and de-oil RB co-products.

Objective:To develop and validate an image analysis method for quantitative analysis ofγ-oryzanol in cold pressed rice bran ***:TLC-densitometric and TLC-image analysis methods were developed,validated,and used for quantitative analysis of γ-oryzanol in cold pressed rice bran *** results obtained by these two different quantification methods were compared by paired ***:Both assays provided good linearity,accuracy,reproducibility and selectivity for determination of γ-***:The TLC-densitomelric and TLC-image analysis methods providett a similar reproducibility,accuracy and selectivity for the quantitative determination of γ-oryzanol in cold pressed rice bran oil.A statistical comparison of the quantitative determinations of γ-oryzanol in samples did not show any statistically significant difference between TLC-densitometric and TLC-image analysis *** both methods were found to be equal,they therefore can be used for the determination of γ-oryzanol in cold pressed rice bran oil.

Clinical efficacy of gamma-oryzanol combined with Femoston for perimenopausal syndrome

BACKGROUND Perimenopausal syndrome(PMS)is a chronic disease associated with estrogen *** of the unsatisfactory outcomes of current conventional treatments for this condition,its treatment must be continuously explored and *** To assess the clinical effectiveness ofγ-oryzanol in combination with Femoston for *** A total of 119 patients with PMS were selected from June 2023 to December 2023,which included 59 and 60 patients in the control and observation group,*** control and observation groups were treated with Femoston andγ-oryzanol+Femoston,*** analyses were performed in terms of clinical effectiveness,safety(dizziness and headache,nausea and vomiting,and breast tenderness),sex hormones[estradiol(E2),luteinizing hormone(LH),and follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)],lumbar spine(L1-4)and bilateral femoral bone mineral density(BMD),and sleep quality(sleeping time and frequency of awakenings from sleep).RESULTS Compared with the control group,the observation group had statistically higher total effective rates of treatment;lower overall incidence of adverse events;higher post-treatment E2 levels and L1-4 and bilateral femoral BMD;and lower LH and FSH levels,sleeping time,and frequency of awakenings from sleep after *** Therefore,for the treatment of PMS,γ-oryzanol combined with Femoston is significantly better than Femoston alone in terms of clinical effectiveness,exhibiting more pronounced clinical advantages in improving safety,sex hormone levels,BMD,and sleep quality.

Proliferative and protective effects of γ-oryzanol on L02 cells against oxidative damage induced by hydrogen peroxide

[Backgroud]γ-oryzanol is one of the most important bioactive substances in rice bran oil that can be used for food,pharmaceutical and cosmetic *** investigate the proliferative and protective effects of γ-oryzanol on L02 cells.[Methods]The model of oxidative damage was set up on L02 cells induced by *** cell viability,the contents of malondialdehyde（MDA） and glutathione（GSH）,the activities of superoxide dismutase（SOD） and catalase（CAT）,and the level of ROS were assayed by adding different concentration of γ-oryzanol into L02 cells in vitro.[Results]The cell viability was enhanced significantly and the levels of ROS and MDA were significantly decreased,whereas the content of GSH and the activities of CAT and SOD were significantly increased by 0.1-0.4 mmol/L of γ-oryzanol pretreatment after H2O2-induced oxidative damage in a dose dependent manner.[Conclusion]γ-oryzanol can effectively attenuate H2O2-induced oxidative damage at the dose of 0.1-0.4 mmol/L and maintain the normal physiology of the cells.

A comprehensive review on anti-diabetic property of rice bran

Rice bran(RB) is one of the nutrient-rich agricultural byproducts. It is a composite of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, fibers, minerals, and trace elements such as phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium and manganese. The extraction and purification process influences the quality and quantity of rice bran oil, which is rich in tocopherols, tocotrienols, 毭-oryzanol, and unsaturated fatty acids. The bioactive components of RB have been reported for exhibiting antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hypocholesterolemic, anti-cancer, anti-colitis, and antidiabetic properties. In vitro and in vivo studies, and clinical trials in human volunteers revealed the anti-hyperglycemic activity of RB derived compounds. An updated comprehensive review on the antidiabetic property of RB and its derivative is required to appraise the current knowledge in the particular field. Thus, the present paper covered the composition and bioactivities of RB, and influence of extraction methods on the biological property of rice bran oil and rice bran extract. And the current review also focused on the reported antihyperglycemia activity of rice bran derivatives, and its probable mechanism.

Evaluation of the anti-dyslipidemic effect of spice fixed oils in the in vitro assays and the high fat diet-induced dyslipidemic mice

Dyslipidemia is a condition in which the lipid levels are altered in the *** fixed oils(FOs)from spices,Alpinia galanga,Cinnamomum zeylanicum,Trigonella foenum-graecum,Foeniculum vulgare,and Myristica fragrans were evaluated as potential sources of anti-dyslipidemic *** nutraceutical compound fractions such as polyphenols,tocopherols,γ-oryzanol,and phytosterols were extracted from spice FOs,tested individually and in combination for cytotoxicity and their effect on lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 and Hep-G2 cell ***,the best performing FOs in the in vitro studies were fed to high fat diet-induced dyslipidemic C57BL/6 mice and studied its activity in the liver and adipose *** in vitro assays showed no cytotoxicity in the studied FOs up to 200μg/mL *** of all the studied nutraceutical compound fractions,theγ-oryzanol and phytosterols fractions showed a reduction in the accumulation of lipid droplets in 3T3-L1 cell ***,the reconstituted nutraceutical fractions from ***,***-graecum,and *** FOs exhibited a dose dependent inhibition of lipid accumulation compared to the fractions of *** and *** *** in vivo studies confirmed the anti-dyslipidemic activity of *** FO that showed an improved lipid profile,antioxidant enzymes,and reduced lipid droplets in the liver and adipose *** histopathological images of the liver and adipose tissue showed a comparable visualisation in Atorvastatin,and *** fed group ***,the spice FOs are potentially efficacious anti-dyslipidemic functional food ingredients and could be safer than statins.
