AIM To evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of autologous stem cell transplantation(SCT) for decompensated liver *** Consecutive patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis were included and assigned into the SCT group and non-transplantation(non-SCT) group according to whether they received SCT treatment. Patients werefollowed up for ten years. The long-term survival rate and incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) were compared between groups.

BACKGROUND Acquired prosopagnosia is a rare condition characterized by the loss of familiarity with previously known faces and the inability to recognize new *** usually occurs after the onset of brain lesions such as in a *** initial identification of prosopagnosia generally relies on a patient’s self-report,which can be challenging if it lacks an associated chief *** were few cases of prosopagnosia presenting purely as eye symptoms in the previous literature confirmed by functional magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).CASE SUMMARY We present a case of delayed diagnosis of prosopagnosia after a right hemisphere stroke in an elderly man whose chief complaint was persistent and progressive"blurred vision"without facial recognition *** tests revealed a homonymous left upper quadrantanopia,with normal visual *** was found by accident to barely recognize familiar *** patient showed severe deficit in face recognition and perception tests,and mild memory loss in neuropsychological *** functional MRI revealed the visual recognition deficits were *** behavioral intervention,the patient started to rely on other cues to compensate for poor facial *** prosopagnosia showed no obvious improvement eight months after the stroke,which had negative impact on his social *** Our case demonstrates that the presentation of prosopagnosia can be atypical,and visual difficulties might be a clinical manifestation solely of prosopagnosia,which emphasizes the importance of routinely considering face recognition impairment among elderly patients with brain lesions.

The Bering sea is susceptible to ocean acidification driven by both human activities(anthropogenic CO_(2))and distinctive natural *** assess the situation of ocean acidification,we investigated the spatial variability of aragonite saturation states(ΩAr)in July 2010 during the 4th Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition(CHINARE).The surface waters were all oversaturated with respect to aragonite(ΩAr>1)due to high biological removal,andΩAr ranged from 1.43 to *** relatively lowΩAr values were found in the western Bering Strait and eastern nearshore region of the Bering Sea Shelf,which were associated with the upwelling and riverine input,*** the subsurface,theΩAr decreased to generally low saturation states and were observed to be strongly undersaturated(ΩAr<1)in the bottom waters with a lowest value of 0.45,which might be caused by ***,unlike prior studies,the lowΩAr values in the shallow nearshore region were still above the saturation horizon throughout the water column,which were probably counteracted by high local primary *** the context of climate change and increasing anthropogenic CO_(2)absorption,the suppression and undersaturation ofΩAr in the Bering Sea are not only attributed to the natural processes but also the accumulation of anthropogenic CO_(2).

To investigate effect of metallic ion activation on different particle sizes of quartz in butyl xanthate solution,six common ions(Pb^(2+),Cu^(2+),Fe^(3+),Fe^(2+),Mg^(2+) and Ca^(2+)) were introduced as *** approaches of micro-flotation,adsorption test and zeta potential measurement were adopted to reveal the mechanism of ion *** results show that Pb^(2+),Cu^(2+) and Fe^(3+) are effective activators for the flotation of quartz in butyl xanthate solution because of their absorption on activated quartz *** recoveries of fine particles(<37 μm) are greater than those of coarser particles(37-74 μm),suggesting that the former is easier to be activated and more likely to be floated and thus entrained in sulphide *** another perspective,addition of metallic ions(Pb^(2+),Cu^(2+) and Fe^(3+)) renders zeta potentials move positively,and addition of the same metallic ions and butyl xanthate makes zeta potential drop apparently,which support a mechanism where they adsorb onto quartz surface,resulting in an expected increase in butyl xanthate collector adsorption with a concomitant increase in the flotation recoveries.

Treadmill exercise and mesenchymal stem cell transplantation are both practical and effective methods for the treatment of cerebral ***,whether there is a synergistic effect between the two remains *** this study,we established rat models of ischemia/reperfusion injury by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery for 2 hours and reperfusion for 24 *** models were perfused with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes(MSC-exos)via the tail vein and underwent 14 successive days of treadmill *** assessment,histopathology,and immunohistochemistry results revealed decreased neuronal apoptosis and cerebral infarct volume,evident synaptic formation and axonal regeneration,and remarkably recovered neurological function in rats subjected to treadmill exercise and MSC-exos *** effects were superior to those in rats subjected to treadmill exercise or MSC-exos treatment ***,further investigation revealed that the activation of JNK1/c-Jun signaling pathways regulated neuronal apoptosis and synaptic-axonal *** findings suggest that treadmill exercise may exhibit a synergistic effect with MSC-exos treatment,which may be related to activation of the JNK1/c-Jun signaling *** study provides novel theoretical evidence for the clinical application of treadmill exercise combined with MSC-exos treatment for ischemic cerebrovascular disease.

A new luminescent compound, {[Eu3（L）4（H2 O）8]·（NO3）·4 H2 O}n（1, H2 L = 2-（pyridine-3-yl）-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid） has been solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analyses, IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. 1 crystallizes in monoclinic, space group C2/c with a = 21.0183（19）, b = 9.5227（6）, c = 28.227（3） ?, β = 106.885（5）o, V = 5406.1（8） ?3, Dc = 2.038 g/cm3, μ = 3.358 mm-1, Mr = 1658.76, F（000） = 3247, Z = 4, the final R = 0.0488, wR = 0.1195 and S = 1.075. The deprotonated L ligand employs a μ4-bridge to coordinate with three Eu（Ⅲ） ion, forming a wave-like（3,4）-connected 2 D structure. The existence of π···π interaction between the pyridine rings of L ligands leads to an infinite 3 D network. Furthermore, the thermal analysis, powder diffraction and solid-state photoluminescent properties of compound 1 have also been investigated.

BACKGROUND The incidence of proximal gastric cancer(GC)is increasing,and methods for the prediction of the long-term survival of proximal GC patients have not been well *** To develop nomograms for the prediction of long-term survival among proximal GC *** Between January 2007 and June 2013,we prospectively collected and retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 746 patients with proximal GC,who were divided into a training set(n=560,75%)and a validation set(n=186,25%).A Cox regression analysis was used to identify the preoperative and postoperative risk factors for overall survival(OS).RESULTS Among the 746 patients examined,the 3-and 5-year OS rates were 66.1%and 58.4%,*** the training set,preoperative T stage(cT),N stage(cN),CA19-9,tumor size,ASA core,and 3-to 6-mo weight loss were incorporated into the preoperative nomogram to predict the *** addition to these variables,lymphatic vascular infiltration(LVI),postoperative tumor size,T stage,N stage,blood transfusions,and complications were incorporated into the postoperative *** calibration curves used to determine the OS probability fit *** the training set,the preoperative nomogram achieved a C-index of 0.751[95%confidence interval(CI):0.732-0.770]in predicting OS and accurately stratified the patients into four prognostic subgroups(5-year OS rates:86.8%,73.0%,43.72%,and 20.9%,P<0.001).The postoperative nomogram had a C-index of 0.758 in predicting OS and accurately stratified the patients into four prognostic subgroups(5-year OS rates:82.6%,74.3%,45.9%,and 18.9%,P<0.001).CONCLUSION The nomograms accurately predicted the pre-and postoperative long-term survival of proximal GC patients.
