Cascade degradation and electrocatalytic upcycling of waste poly(ethylene terephthalate)to valued products

The global annual production of poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET)has reached 82 million tons,yet only a small fraction(less than 20%)is *** ultra-slow degradation rate of PET results in the accumulation of PET waste in the environment,causing serious plastic pollution and posing severe challenges to *** response,great efforts have been directed toward developing a cascade degradation and electrocatalytic upcycling strategy,which serves as a“waste-towealth”*** strategy involves electro-reforming PEThydrolyzed intermediates or using PET pyrolyzed products as electrocatalysts to generate high-value *** review provides an overview of the state-of-the-art strategies for the“degradation-electrocatalytic upcycling(De-eUp)”of PET ***,an introduction to the strategy is provided,categorizing it into two main frameworks:“pyrolysis-electrocatalytic upcycling”and“hydrolysis-electrocatalytic upcycling”.The section on“pyrolysis-electrocatalytic upcycling”delves into the degradation methods for designing derived carbon nanomaterials and their utilization as high-performance ***“hydrolysis-electrocatalytic upcycling”section discusses recent advancements in electro-reforming of PET hydrolyzed intermediates for the production of C_(1) and C_(2) *** review concludes by examining the challenges and future prospects in developing an efficient and economical PET upcycling *** is anticipated that this review will stimulate further progress in plastic waste valorization.

An Efficient α-Alkylation of Aromatic Ketones with Primary Alcohols Catalyzed by [Cp＊IrCI2]2 without Solvent

Aromatic ketones are directly alkylated at a position with primary alcohols at 110 ℃ in the presence of catalytic amount of KOH and [Cp＊lrC12]2 （Cp＊=pentamethylcyclopentadienyl） catalyst. The reaction is carried out in the absence of any solvent or additive, which generates only water as the byproduct in theory. It is very efficient and generally completed in 10 min in good isolated yields. The reaction is believed to undergo successive hydrogen transfer and cross aldol condensation processes.

Molecular identification based on ITS sequences for Kappaphycus and Eucheuma cultivated in China

The systematic classification of the Eucheumatoideae is difficult because of their variable morphology and interpretation of reproductive structures. Kappaphycus and Eucheuma specimens cultivated on the Hainan and Fujian coast of China were introduced from Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia. Combined with morphological characteristics, all Kappaphycus and Eucheuma cultivated strains were identified by internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences. The phylogenetic tree was constructed using neighbor-joining and maximum likelihood methods. The results indicate that different ITS sequence lengths occurred in the different genera and species. An obvious difference in morphology could be found in the protuberance shape between Kappaphycus and Eucheuma. The protuberance in Eucheuma was thorn-like and in Kappaphycus was wartlike or papillate. Their ITS sequence lengths differed significantly in nucleotide variation rates up to 58.55%-63.90%. All nucleotide variations occurred in the ITS1 and ITS2 regions except for five nucleotide transversions in the 5.8S rDNA region. In addition, the difference was at the branches among congeneric species. Kappaphycus sp. had branches with small buds, while K. alvarezii did not have such a feature. The nucleotide variation rates varied from 7.02% to 7.48% among species; within the same species of the clades it was <1.20%. Eucheumatoideae algae cultivated in China consisted of three clades, K. alvarezii, Kappaphycus sp., and E. denticulatum. The results indicate that ITS sequence analysis was an effective way for identification of interspecies and intraspecies phylogenetic relationships and might provide a clue for molecular identification of algal Eucheumatoideae.

Artificial Modulation of Ferroelectric Thin Films into Antiferroelectric through H^＋ Implantation for High-Density Charge Storage

Hydrogen ions are implanted into Pb（Zro.3Tio.7）03 1014 ions/cm^2. Pseudo-antiferroelectric behaviour in thin films at the energy of 40keV with a flux of 5 x the implanted thin films is observed, as confirmed by the measurements of polarization versus electric hysteresis loops and capacitance versus voltage curves. X-ray diffrac- tion patterns show the film structures before and after H＋ implantation both to be perovskite of a tetragonal symmetry. These findings indicate that hydrogen ions exist as stable dopants within the films. It is believed that the dopants change domain-switching behaviour via the boundary charge compensation. Meanwhile, time dependence of leakage current density after time longer than lOs indicates the enhancement of the leakage cur- rent nearly in one order for the implanted film, but the current at time shorter than i s is mostly the same as that of the original film without the ionic implantation. The artificial tailoring of the antiferroelectric behaviour through H＋ implantation in ferroelectric thin films is finally proven to be achievable for the device application of high-density charge storage.

Magnetosonic waves are an important medium for energy transfer in collisionless space *** waves have been widely investigated in the upstream of the bow shock at *** waves are believed to originate from pickup ions or reflected *** utilizing MAVEN spacecraft data,we have observed the occurrence of quasi-perpendicularly propagating magnetosonic emissions near the proton gyrofrequency in the Martian magnetotail *** plasma waves are associated with a significant enhancement of proton and oxygen *** excited magnetosonic waves could possibly heat the protons through resonance and facilitate the ionospheric plasma *** results could be helpful to better understand the Mars’magnetospheric dynamics and offer insights into possible energy redistribution between waves and plasma in the Martian nightside magnetosphere.

A lead zirconate titanate(PZT)-Si energy harvester cantilever with PZT bulk ceramics is fabricated by eutectic bonding,polishing and dicing *** feasibility of this process is studied using a successful operation of the cantilever in both actuation and harvesting *** first prototype made from a PZT-Au-Si cantiliever is *** testing results show the voltage output of 632 mV at the frequency of 815 Hz when the excitation acceleration is 0.5 *** PZT and silicon layers are bonded together to form a sandwiched structure using a gold layer as an intermediate layer.

Residents'urbanized landscape preferences in rural areas reveal the importance of naturalness-livability contrast

Urbanization has caused significant landscape changes in rural areas,leading to the emergence of urbanized landscapes(ULs),which have been generally criticized by authorities and ***,perceptions of ULs among local residents have rarely been *** this study,we chose five typical categories of ULs from rapidly transforming villages in Fujian Province,China–hardened water bank(HWB),big pavilion(BPA),big memorial arch(BMA),big ornamental lawn(BOL),and big square(BSQ)to do the *** identified how these ULs were rated and ranked by on-site surveys,as well as how related aesthetic and multifunctional landscape characters(LCs)played a *** results(N=550)showed that 1)residents supported the construction of ULs,and the most preferred category was that with the most natural elements(BOL)that was simultaneously well maintained.2)For the residents,the longer they had resided in the village and the fewer connections they had with the city,the more in favor they were of the ULs,and the more eager they were for landscape *** addition,residents with higher education and Communist Party of China membership valued the naturalness related LCs more highly.3)Two contradictory preference features,naturalness and livability,should be well coordinated and balanced to construct an improved favorable village for the residents,to realize a balanced and sustainable development *** study makes great theoretical contributions to landscape research and provides new insights into rural planning and construction.

Controlled Synthesis of Nanoscale CdTe Urchins

We presented a simple route to prepare nanoscale CdTe urchins in a tri-n-octylphosphine oxide（TOPO） system. CdTe urchins consisted of a core and several attached arms. The arms were ca. 3 nm wide, and their lengths could be controlled with the reaction time. The authors investigated the optical absorption and structural properties of the prepared CdTe. The lengths of the arms could be tuned into CdTe nanourchins, which led to a change in the photophysical properties of the nanoscale CdTe urchins. The results, including transmission electron microscopy（TEM） and absorption spectra, indicated that mesoporous silica and aminopropyltriethoxysilane（APTES） contributed to the formation of nanoscale CdTe urchins.

Observer-based event-triggered networked multi-drives speed consensus

The problem of having an identical speed when dealing with multiple motors always exists in the *** are several methods to address the problem,but all the methodologies have two common ***,the control design requires continuous information on the desired speed and the actual speed of motors;secondly,it is sometimes difficult to directly measure the speed *** the proposed study,both of these drawbacks are addressed by designing an observer-based event-triggered networked multi-agent *** proposed method uses the leader following consensus approach with a centralized event triggering control design so that whenever a follower's speed diverges from that of the leader,an event is triggered,which communicates and resets all the agents to the leader's ***,an observer is designed such that the ith agent uses its jth neighbor agent and observer speed information to estimate the leader's *** stability of the proposed design is formulated by Lyapunov stability,while the simulation results endorse the design concepts and energy saving.
