Machine learning algorithms able to predict the prognosis of gastric cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors

BACKGROUND Although immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs)have demonstrated significant survival benefits in some patients diagnosed with gastric cancer(GC),existing prognostic markers are not universally applicable to all patients with advanced *** To investigate biomarkers that predict prognosis in GC patients treated with ICIs and develop accurate predictive *** Data from 273 patients diagnosed with GC and distant metastasis,who un-derwent≥1 cycle(s)of ICIs therapy were included in this *** were randomly divided into training and test sets at a ratio of 7:*** set data were used to develop the machine learning models,and the test set was used to validate their predictive *** additive explanations were used to provide insights into the best *** Among the 273 patients with GC treated with ICIs in this study,112 died within 1 year,and 129 progressed within the same *** features related to overall survival and 4 related to progression-free survival were identified and used to construct eXtreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost),logistic regression,and decision *** comprehensive evaluation,XGBoost demonstrated good accuracy in predicting overall survival and progression-free *** The XGBoost model aided in identifying patients with GC who were more likely to benefit from ICIs *** nutritional status may,to some extent,reflect prognosis.

TX-80 low-transformation-temperature(LTT)welding wire was used to replace the traditional ER 307Si welding wire to realize the connection of 22SiMn2TiB armor steel in manual overlay *** previously existing issues,such as welding cracks,large welding deformation,and severe welding residual stress,were solved to ensure good strength and ductility *** particular,with the same welding conditions,TX-80 LTT wire eliminates welding *** reduces the welding deformation no matter the base pretreatment of pre-setting angle or no pre-setting *** comparison,it was found that the microstructure at the TX-80 weld is mainly composed of martensite and a small amount of retained *** contrast,the microstructure of the ER 307Si weld consists of a large amount of austenite and a small amount of skeleton-like *** variation trend of residual stress and microhardness from the weld to the base were investigated and compared with the mechanical properties of base *** TX-80 and the ER 307Si tensile samples elongation is 6.76%and 6.01%,while the ultimate tensile strengths are 877 and 667 MPa,*** average impact toughness at room temperature of the ER 307Si weld is 143.9 J/cm^(2),much higher than that of the TX-80 weld,which is only 36.7 J/cm^(2).The relationship between impact and tensile properties with microstructure species and distribution was *** addition,the fracture surface of the tensile and the impact samples was observed and *** dimples,fewer pores,larger radiation zone,and shear lips of TX-80 samples indicate better tensile ductility and worse impact toughness than those of ER 307Si weld.

Further study on the genesis of lamellar calcite veins in lacustrine black shale--A case study of Paleogene in Dongying Depression, China

Lamellar calcite veins are prevalent in carbonate-rich,lacustrine dark *** formation mechanisms of these veins have been extensively debated,focusing on factors such as timing,depth,material source,and driving *** paper examines dark lacustrine shale lamellar calcite veins in the Paleogene strata of Dongying Depression,using various analytical techniques:petrography,isotope geochemistry,cathodoluminescence,inclusion thermometry,and electron probe *** distinct types of calcite veins have been identified:granular calcite veins and sparry calcite *** two types differ significantly in color,grain structure,morphology,and *** further investigation,it was observed that vein generation occurred from the shallow burial period to the maturation of organic matter,with a transition from granular calcite veins to sparry calcite *** granular calcite veins exhibit characteristics associated with the shallow burial period,including plastically deformed laminae and veins,the development of strawberry pyrite,the absence of oil and gas,weak fractionation in oxygen isotopes,and their contact relationship with sparry calcite *** granular calcite veins were likely influenced by the reduction of sulfate *** the other hand,sparry calcite veins with fibrous grains are antitaxial and closely linked to the evolution and maturation of organic *** contain oil and gas inclusions and show a distribution range of homogenization temperature between 90℃ and 120℃ and strong fractionation in oxygen isotopes,indicating formation during the hydrocarbon expulsion *** carbon isotope analysis of the surrounding rocks and veins suggests that the material for vein formation originates from the shale itself,specifically authigenic micritic calcite modified by the action of *** opening of horizontal fractures and vein formation is likely driven by fluid overpressure resulting from undercompaction and hydrocarb

Evaluating the physical mechanisms that link hydraulic fracturing(HF) operations to induced earthquakes and the anticipated form of the resulting events is significant in informing subsurface fluid injection operations. Current understanding supports the overriding role of the effective stress magnitude in triggering earthquakes, while the impact of change rate of effective stress has not been systematically addressed. In this work, a modified critical stiffness was brought up to investigate the likelihood, impact,and mitigation of induced seismicity during and after hydraulic fracturing by developing a poroelastic model based on rate-and-state fraction law and linear stability analysis. In the new criterion, the change rate of effective stress was considered a key variable to explore the evolution of this criterion and hence the likelihood of instability slip of fault. A coupled fluid flow-deformation model was used to represent the entire hydraulic fracturing process in COMSOL Multiphysics. The possibility of triggering an earthquake throughout the entire hydraulic fracturing process, from fracturing to cessation, was investigated considering different fault locations, orientations, and positions along the fault. The competition between the effects of the magnitude and change rate of effective stress was notable at each fracturing stage. The effective stress magnitude is a significant controlling factor during fracturing events, with the change rate dominating when fracturing is suddenly started or stopped. Instability dominates when the magnitude of the effective stress increases(constant injection at each fracturing stage) and the change rate of effective stress decreases(the injection process is suddenly stopped). Fracturing with a high injection rate, a fault adjacent to the hydraulic fracturing location and the position of the junction between the reservoir and fault are important to reduce the Coulomb failure stress(CFS) and enhance the critical stiffness as

Topological Stability and Entropy for Certain Set-valued Maps

In this paper,the dynamics(including shadowing property,expansiveness,topological stability and entropy)of several types of upper semi-continuous set-valued maps are mainly considered from differentiable dynamical systems points of *** is shown that(1)if f is a hyperbolic endomorphism then for eachε>0 there exists a C^(1)-neighborhood U of f such that the induced set-valued map F_(f,U)has theε-shadowing property,and moreover,if f is an expanding endomorphism then there exists a C^(1)-neighborhood U of f such that the induced set-valued map F_(f,U)has the Lipschitz shadowing property;(2)when a set-valued map F is generated by finite expanding endomorphisms,it has the shadowing property,and moreover,if the collection of the generators has no coincidence point then F is expansive and hence is topologically stable;(3)if f is an expanding endomorphism then for eachε>0 there exists a C^(1)-neighborhood U of f such that h(F_(f,U,ε))=h(f);(4)when F is generated by finite expanding endomorphisms with no coincidence point,the entropy formula of F is ***,the dynamics of the set-valued maps based on discontinuous maps on the interval are also considered.

Changing trends of clinicopathologic features and survival duration after surgery for gastric cancer in Northeast China

BACKGROUND Through analyzing the data from a single institution in Northeast China,this study revealed the possible clinicopathologic characteristics that influence the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer(GC).AIM To evaluate the changing trends of clinicopathologic features and survival duration after surgery in patients with GC in Northeast China,which is a highprevalence area of *** The study analyzed the difference in clinicopathologic features and survival duration after surgery of 5887 patients who were histologically diagnosed with GC at the Harbin Medical University Cancer *** study mainly analyzed the data in three periods,2000 to 2004(Phase 1),2005 to 2009(Phase 2),and 2010 to 2014(Phase 3).RESULTS Over time,the postoperative survival rate significantly increased from 2000 to *** the past 15 years,compared with Phases 1 and 2,the tumor size was smaller in Phase 3(P<0.001),but the proportion of high-medium differentiated tumors increased(P<0.001).The proportion of early GC gradually increased from 3.9%to 14.4%(P<0.001).A surprising improvement was observed in the mean number of retrieved lymph nodes,ranging from 11.4 to 27.5(P<0.001).The overall 5-year survival rate increased from 24%in Phase 1 to 43.8%in Phase *** multivariate analysis,it was found that age,tumor size,histologic type,tumor-node-metastasis stage,depth of invasion,lymph node metastasis,surgical approach,local infiltration,radical extent,number of retrieved lymph nodes,and age group were independent risk factors that influenced the prognosis of patients with *** The clinical features of GC in Northeast China changed during the observation *** increasing detection of early GC and more standardized surgical treatment effectively prolonged lifetimes.
