Pancreaticβ-cell dysfunction and insulin resistance are two of the major causes of type 2 diabetes(T2D).Recent clinical and experimental studies have suggested that the functional capacity ofβ-cells,particularly in the first phase of insulin secretion,is a primary contributor to the progression of T2D and its associated ***β-cells undergo dynamic compensation and decompensation processes during the development of T2D,in which metabolic stresses such as endoplasmic reticulum stress,oxidative stress,and inflammatory signals are key regulators ofβ-cell *** and exercise interventions have been shown to be effective approaches for the treatment of obesity and T2D,especially in the early *** the targeted tissues and underlying mechanisms of dietary and exercise interventions remain somewhat vague,accumulating evidence has implicated the improvement ofβ-cell functional *** this review,we summarize recent advances in the understanding of the dynamic adaptations ofβ-cell function in T2D progression and clarify the effects and mechanisms of dietary and exercise interventions onβ-cell dysfunction in *** review provides molecular insights into the therapeutic effects of dietary and exercise interventions on T2D,and more importantly,it paves the way for future research on the related underlying mechanisms for developing precision prevention and treatment of T2D.

With distinct advantages such as high gravimetric and volumetric capacity(5855 mAh·cm^(-3)and 820mAh·g^(-1)),low redox potential(-0.762 V *** hydrogen electrode(SHE)),high abundance,low toxicity and intrinsic safety of Zn metal anode,Zn-ion batteries have become a potential alternative to Li-ion ***,several challenges still need to be addressed prior to the practical applications of Zn-ion batteries,such as dendrite growth during Zn plating/stripping and interfacial side reactions on the Zn *** issues can be addressed by introducing additives to regulate the components and structures of the *** this review,we systematically discussed the core issues of metallic Zn anodes and comprehensively summarized a novel perspective of the regulation mechanism of inhibiting dendrite growth or interfacial side reactions in Zn anodes by introducing additives into aqueous ***,some discussions and prospects for aqueous Zn ion batteries(AZIBs)are presented for future research.

Objective:Bushen Tiansui formula(BSTSF),a traditional Chinese medicine prescription,has been widely used to treat Alzheimer’s disease(AD).However,the mechanisms underlying its effects remain largely *** this study,a rat AD model was used to study the effects of BSTSF on cognitive performance and expression of transfer RNA-derived small RNAs(tsRNAs)in the hippocampus,to determine whether treatment of AD with BSTSF could regulate the expression of tsRNAs,a novel small non-coding ***:To generate a validated AD model,oligomeric amyloid-β_(1-42)(Aβ_(1-42))was injected intracerebroventricularly into *** Morris water maze(MWM)test was used to evaluate rat cognitive performance,and tsRNA-sequencing was conducted to examine tsRNA expression in the rat *** targets were validated by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR).Bioinformatic analyses were conducted to investigate the biological function of candidate ***:The learning and memory deficits of Aβ_(1-42)-induced AD rats,assessed by MWM tests,were clearly ameliorated by BSTSF treatment.A total of 387 tsRNAs were detected in the rat *** them,13 were significantly dysregulated in AD rats compared with sham control rats,while 57 were markedly altered by BSTSF treatment,relative to untreated AD rats(fold change>2 and P<0.05).Moreover,six BSTSF treatment-related tsRNAs were identified and validated by *** analyses indicated that the six treatment-related tsRNAs had potential therapeutic roles,via multiple signaling pathways and Gene Ontology biological functions,including cyclic adenosine monophosphate and retrograde endocannabinoid ***:This study identified a previously uncharacterized mechanism underlying the effects of BSTSF in alleviating the learning and memory deficits in Aβ_(1-42)-induced AD rats,demonstrating that tsRNAs are potential therapeutic targets of BSTSF in the treatment of AD.

The development of alkaline fuel cells is moving forward at an accelerated pace,and the application of ether-free bonded polymers to anion exchange membranes （AEMs） has been widely ***,the question of the“trade-off”between AEM ionic conductivity and dimensional stability remains *** strategy of inducing microphase separation to improve the performance of AEM has attracted much attention recently,but the design of optimal molecular structures is still being ***,this work introduced different ratios of 3-bromo-1,1,1-trifluoroacetone （x=40,50,and 60） into the main chain of poly（p-terphenylene isatin）.Because fluorinated groups have excellent hydrophobicity,hydrophilic hydroxyl-containing side chains are introduced to jointly adjust the formation of phase separation *** results show that PTI-PTF50-NOH AEM with the appropriate fluorinated group ratio has the best ionic conductivity and alkali stability under the combined effect of *** has an ionic conductivity of 133.83 mS cm-1at 80°*** addition,the OH-conductivity remains at 89%of the initial value at 80°C and 3 M KOH for 1056 h of *** cell polarization curve based on PTI-PTF50-NOH shows a power density of 734.76 mW cm-2at a current density of 1807.7 mA cm-2.

Effects of Plant Density and Nitrogen Application Rate on Grain Yield and Nitrogen Uptake of Super Hybrid Rice

The nitrogen uptake, yield and its components for two super-high-yielding hybrid rice combinations, Guodao 6 and Eryou 7954 were investigated under different plant densities （15, 18, and 21 plants/m^2） and different nitrogen application rates （120, 150, 180, and 210 kg/hm^2）. The experiment was conducted on loam soil during 2004-2006 at the experimental farm of the China National Rice Research Institute in Hangzhou, China. In these years, the two hybrid rice cleady showed higher yield at a plant density of 15 plants/m^2 with a nitrogen application rate of 180 kg/hm^2. Guodao 6 produced an average grain yield of 10 215.6 kg/hm^2 across the three years, while the yield of Eryou 7954 was 9 633.0 kg/hm^2. With fewer plants per unit-area and larger plants in the plots, the two hybrid rice produced more panicles per plant in three years. The highest nitrogen uptake of the two hybrid rice was at a plant density of 15 plants/m^2 with a nitrogen application rate of 180 kg/hm^2. Further increasing nitrogen application rate was not advantageous for nitrogen uptake in super-high-yielding rice under the same plant density.

Background:With the increasing fragmentation of landscape induced by rapid urbanization,the construction of ecological networks is of great signifcance to alleviate the degradation of urban habitats and protect natural envi‑***,there is considerable uncertainty when constructing ecological networks,especially the difer‑ent approaches to selecting ecological *** used the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen as a study area to construct and optimize ecological networks using a coupling *** source areas were extracted using morphological spatial pattern analysis(MSPA)and the landscape index *** networks were con‑structed using the minimal cumulative resistance(MCR)model and the gravity *** stones and ecological fault points were added in corridors to optimize the ecological ***:Ten core areas with maximum importance patch values were extracted by the landscape index method as ecological source areas according to MSPA,after which corridors between ecological sources were constructed based on the MCR *** constructed ecological networks were optimized using 35 stepping stones and 17 ecologi‑cal fault *** optimized ecological networks included 11 important corridors,34 general corridors,and seven potential *** results of corridor landscape-type analysis showed that a suitable ecological corridor is 60 to 200 m ***:Overall,our results imply that ecological source areas can be identifed virtually,and that ecological networks can be signifcantly optimized by combining MSPA and MCR *** results provide a methodologi‑cal reference for constructing ecological networks,and they will be useful for urban planning and biodiversity protec‑tion in Shenzhen and other similar regions around the world.

Decision making module based on stochastic magnetic tunnel junctions

In biological neural systems, noise is ubiquitous but does not affect the correct decisions made in the complex cognitive ***-making in biological neural system is typically achieved by accumulating input information over a period of *** by recent developments in neurosciences, we design a decision-making module based on spintronic devices, utilizing superparamagnetic tunnel junctions as artificial neurons. The feasibility of this decision-making module is verified through circuit simulations. Taking a multi-layer perceptron as an example, the module significantly improves the accuracy of the perceptron in the handwritten digit recognition task. Furthermore, the spintronic decision-making module offers advantages over the conventional pooling methods, such as adaptive decision time, high performance and the absence of analog-to-digital conversion. The decision-making module is flexible to be integrated into artificial neural networks and provides a general yet effective solution to enhance performance against device noise.

Developing a cost-effective and environmentally friendly process for the production of valuable chemicals from abundant herbal biomass receives great attentions in recent ***,taking advantage of the“lignin first”strategy,corn straw is converted to valuable chemicals including lignin monomers,furfural and 5-methoxymethylfurfural via a two steps *** key of this research lies in the development of a green and low-cost catalytic process utilizing magnetic Raney Ni catalyst and high boiling point ethylene *** utilization of neat ethylene glycol as the sole slovent under atmospheric conditions obviates the need for additional additives,thereby facilitating the entire process to be conducted in glass flasks and rendering it highly convenient for scaling *** the initial step,depolymerization of corn straw lignin resulted in a monomer yield of 18.1 wt%.Subsequently,in a dimethyl carbonate system,the carbohydrate component underwent complete conversion in a one-pot process,yielding furfural and 5-methoxymethylfurfural as the primary products with an impressive yield of 47.7%.
