A group of variously colored proteins belonging to the green fAuorescent protein(GFP)family are responsible for coloring coral *** of the Great Barrier Reef were studied with the custom-built fiber laser fluorescence *** analysis showed that most of the excarmined corals contained multiple fuorescent peaks ranging from 470 to *** obser-vation was attributed to the presence of multiple genes of GFP-like proteins in a single coral,as well as by the photo-induced post-translational modifcations of certain GFP-like *** isolated a novel photo-convertible fuorescent protein(FP)from one of the tested ***:propose that two processes may explain the observed diversity of the fuorescent spectra in corals:(1)dark post-translational modifcation(maturation),and(2)color photo-conversion of certain maturated proteins in response to sunlight.

Improvement of regional cerebral blood flow after oral intake of ranched-chain amino acids in patients with cirrhosis

AIM： To evaluate the effect of oral intake of branchedchain amino acids （BCAA） on brain perfusion in patients with liver cirrhosis. METHODS： Single photon emission computed tomography scans were performed in 43 patients with cirrhosis and in 15 age-matched healthy subjects. Twenty-nine out of forty-three patients were randomly treated with either BCAA granules or placebo, and single photon emission computed tomography was performed before and after the treatment. We measured the regional cerebral blood flow values using a threedimensional stereotaxic region of interest template. RESULTS： Cirrhotic patients had regions of significant hypoperfusion in the bilateral central （right P = 0.039, P〈0.05; left P = 0.006 P〈0.01）, parietal （right P = 0.028, P〈0.05; left P = 0.009, P〈0.01）, angular （right P = 0.039, P〈0.05; left P = 0.008, P〈0.01）, and left pericallosal segments （P = 0.038 P〈0.05） as compared with healthy subjects. A significant increase in cerebral perfusion was observed 70 min after the oral intake of BCAA in the angular （right P = 0.012, P〈0.05; left P = 0.049, P〈0.05）, temporal （right P = 0.012, P〈0.05; left P=0.038, P〈0.05）, pericallosal segments （right P = 0.025, P〈0.05; left P = 0.049, P〈0.05） and left precentral （P = 0.044, P〈0.05）, parietal （P = 0.040, P〈0.05） and thalamus （P = 0.033, P〈0.05）. No significant change in perfusion was observed in the placebo group. CONCLUSION： Administration of BCAA rapidly improves cerebral perfusion.

Modern trends in animal venom research-omics and nanomaterials

Animal venom research is a specialized investigation field, in which a number of different methods are used and this array is constantly expanding. Thus, recently emerged omics and nanotechnologies have already been successfully applied to venom research. Animal venoms have been studied for quite a long time. The traditional reductionist approach has been to isolate individual toxins and then study their structure and function. Unfortunately, the characterization of the venom as a whole system and its multiple effects on an entire organism were not possible until recent times. The development of new methods in mass spectrometry and sequencing have allowed such characterizations of venom, encompassing the identification of new toxins present in venoms at extremely low concentrations to changes in metabolism of prey organisms after envenomation. In particular, this type of comprehensive research has become possible due to the development of the various omics technologies: Proteomics, peptidomics, transcriptomics, genomics and metabolomics. As in other research fields, these omics technologies ushered in a revolution for venom studies, which is now entering the era of big data. Nanotechnology is a very new branch of technology and developing at an extremely rapid pace. It has found application in many spheres and has not bypassed the venom studies. Nanomaterials are quite promising in medicine, and most studies combining venoms and nanomaterials are dedicated to medical applications. Conjugates of nanoparticles with venom components have been proposed for use as drugs or diagnostics. For example, nanoparticles conjugated with chlorotoxin- a toxin in scorpion venom, which has been shown to bind specifically to glioma cells- are considered as potential glioma-targeted drugs, and conjugates of neurotoxins with fluorescent semiconductor nanoparticles or quantum dots may be used to detect endogenous targets expressed in live cells. Scleractinian Corals and Reefs of Vietnam as a Part of the Pacific Reef Ecosystem

The paper analyzes both published and unpublished results of the investigations of Vietnamese reef building corals and reefs performed in the last decades of the twentieth century and first decades twenty-first. The state of the art in the study of reef-building scleractinian corals and reefs is presented. The scleractinian fauna of Vietnam is shown to match in species diversity (350 species of 80 genera) the tropical coral fauna of the Indonesian–Malacca fertile center, from which Indo-Pacific reef-building corals originated. The whole Vietnam coast from the Gulf of Tonkin to the Gulf of Siam is a biogeographically single whole and is a part of the Indo-Polynesian Province of the Indo-Pacific Area.

Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry of Highly Ordered Carbyne

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) time-of-flight mass spectrometry was applied to a non-conven-tional object–highly ordered carbyne films. Mass spectra of both positive and negative ions were recorded in all tests. The spectra had a rather high number of hydrogen atom peaks and specific features indicative of hydrogen acting as a requisite stabilizer in the crystalline carbyne structure. A new model based on interchain dihydrogen bonds was proposed.

Socio-economic influences of population density

While population density represents an important socio-economic parameter, its role is rarely studied in the economic literature （contrary to natural sciences）. Population density plays an important role in harvesting societies, i.e. those that depend on agriculture and natural resources. With the development of industry and services and emergence of urban areas, population density becomes less economically important unless we consider aspects related to pollution. There exists a phase transition between rural and urban area which makes population density less important in urban area contrary to rural. However, the economic influence of population density in harvesting societies is also not straight forward. Too high population density decreases the natural endowment per capita, but eases the development of infrastructure, leading to existence of an optimal population density for economic growth. It also influences the demand for a monopolistic product, where too little density can lead to non-survival of a monopoly. Emergence of ethnic communities is based on more cooperative behavior in the case of low cultural and physical distances. At the same time, higher probability of large projects （like infrastructure） leads to development of cooperative behavior in the society. Elaboration along these lines leads to the conclusion that population density positively correlates with individualistic （non-cooperative, non-altruistic） behavior, through less time spent in cooperative infrastructure projects and higher frequency of meetings between individuals that with some probability lead to non-cooperative games.

The Choice of Model of External Load in Problem of Synthesis of Adequate Mathematical Description

The problem of mathematical simulation of motion of dynamic systems characteristics and their coincidence with real experimental data which correspond to these characteristics is investigated in this paper. Mathematical description of process will be named as adequate mathematical description if the results of mathematical simulation by the help of this description coincide with experiment with inaccuracy of initial data. The synthesis of such description is very important at mathematical modeling and forecast of motion of real physical phenomena. The specified problem is still poorly investigated and hardly adapted to formalization. The requirements to the adequate mathematical description of dynamic system are considered for the case when mathematical description of dynamic systems is represented by linear system of the ordinary differential equations. In this paper the mathematical model of process is given a priori with inexact parameters and then the models of external loads are being determined for which the results of simulation coincide with experiment. The methods of obtaining of the steady models of external loads are suggested. The example of the adequate description construction of the main mechanical line dynamics of rolling mill is given.
