Thermodynamic functions solutions of a 25 binary systems formed n-alcohols and esters of aliphatic acids by were calculated using the standards ideal solution and ideal gas. The value change regularity of the thermodynamic functions of solutions depending on their molar mass and concentration of the solutions＇ components was determined by the thermodynamic analysis. The method of prediction of the thermodynamic properties of binary solutions was suggested on the basis of the determined regularities. The corresponding equations were obtained.

Apple Extracts Present Catabolic and Hipocolesterolemic Effect in Mice

Dyslipidemia is highly prevalent in the Chilean population: about 40% have total cholesterol levels over 200 mg/dl and 25% are obese (BMI > 30) which produces an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and deaths. Over consumption of foods rich in lipids and carbohydrates unchains these events, due to the high amount of lipid accumulation in adipocytes. These cells are capable of producing a large number of mediators of inflammation and adipokines which in large quantities can compromise the overall metabolism. Apple has been shown to stop these events. We used CF-1 mice that were fed on a high-fat diet which leads to a metabolic status similar to dyslipidemia. Different types of apple waste were direct from orchard and fruit industry. Extracts obtained were characterized and administered in drinking water. At the end of the 40-day experimental period, biochemical parameters in animals were measured and the weight of white adipose tissue (WAT) was quantified. The results were compared with the normal diet and fat diet controls. All apple extracts decrease total and LDL cholesterol to levels similar to normal control and decrease WAT. Apple extracts may be an effective protector against development of risk factors in cardiovascular disease in the Chilean population.

Esophageal adenocarcinoma is the most rapidly growing cancer in *** the prognosis after diagnosis is unfavorable,the chance of a successful outcome increases tremendously if detected early while the lesion is still ***,the present standard-of-care,endoscopic surveillance,has major limitations,since dysplasia is invisible,often focal,and systematic biopsies typically sample less than one percent of the esophageal lining and therefore easily miss *** solve this problem we developed a multispectral light scattering endoscopic imaging *** surveys the entire esophageal lining and accurately detects subcellular dysplastic *** system combines light scattering spectroscopy,which detects and identifies invisible dysplastic sites by analyzing light scattered from epithelial cells,with rapid scanning of the entire esophageal lining using a collimated broadband light beam delivered by an endoscopically compatible fiber optic *** we report the results of the first comprehensive multispectral imaging study,conducted as part of routine endoscopic procedures performed on patients with suspected *** a double-blind study that characterized the system’s ability to serve as a screening tool,55 out of 57 patients were diagnosed *** addition,a smaller double-blind comparison of the multispectral data in 24 patients with subsequent pathology at locations where 411 biopsies were collected yielded an accuracy of 90%in detecting individual locations of dysplasia,demonstrating the capability of this method to serve as a guide for biopsy.

In agriculture,LED light sources have increasingly replaced the standard luminescent lamps and have acquired an important role in plant *** studied the effect of different light sources such as narrow-band LEDs(bright blue,blue,green,yellow,deep red,and red)and wide-band LEDs(cold white,white,warm white,full spectrum,and an artificial solar spectrum sun box constructed by us)on development of potato plantlets in *** luminescent lamps were used as a *** light intensity of 49μmol·m^(-2)·s^(-1)was provided in all light *** showed that the long-wave narrow-band light treatments were inapplicable for potato micropropagation,because plantlets were weak with small leaves,inhibited roots,and significantly elongated *** lights provided growth of shortened plantlets with large leaves,well-growing roots,and abundant green *** chlorophyll content was lower under blue and bright blue light and was at the same level in the remained *** differences in the stomatal apparatus development were observed depending on the light *** differences were not always reflected in the plantlet phenotype:e.g.,plantlets under blue and bright blue lights showed no differences in any characteristics except stomatal density and size of stomatal guard *** found no significant effect of blue light portion in the white lights and full spectrum on plantlet *** artificial solar spectrum sun box was the most suitable for potato micropropagation,because it supported the development of plantlets with good fitness,uniform internodes length,abundant roots and green mass accumulation.

We have previously shown that both acute and chronic ethanol treatment depresses neural activity, specifically in the cingulate cortex. Minor influences were found in the motor cortex. The acute effect of ethanol in the hippocampus was intermediate to those in the cingulate and motor cortices. In the present study, we concentrate on the chronic effects of ethanol on the hippocampus. We demonstrate how the neuronal activity underlying food-acquisition behavior is modified after chronic ethanol treatment, and how the hippocampus subserves formation of newly-formed alcohol-acquisition behavior. neuronal activity in CA1 was more sensitive to chronic ethanol than the Dg area. Acute administration of ethanol had a normalizing effect on the chronically-treated animals: their performance and the hippocampal neural activity approached a normal range. The sets of neurons involved in food-acquisition behavior formed before chronic ethanol treatment, and those involved in alcohol-acquisition behavior formed after treatment significantly overlapped supporting the view that the neuronal mechanisms of pre-existing behavior provide the basis for the formation of new behavior. Additionally, we also discovered alcohol-acquisition selective neurons. Assuming that the formation of new neuronal specializations underlies learning, we believe that alcohol-selective neurons are specialized during the formation of alcohol-acquisition behavior. Our data demonstrate several new findings on the effect of acute and chronic ethanol on hippocampus activity, and how the neuronal activity relates to behavior before and after ethanol treatment.

Сondensed phosphates of metaphosphatic structure with the equal relation of metal oxide and phosphorus pentoxide are promising inorganic oleophilic antifrictional, antiwear and anti-seize, heat-resistant and eco-friendly additives to greases. We study in detail one group of these compounds, phosphorowolframates of alkaline metals MIPWO6 (MI = Li, na, K, Rb, Cs), by using the ADF software package based on the DFT approach. Three stages of interaction of molecules of these substances with an iron surface are investigated: change of the shape of molecules near a surface, formation of the adsorptive complex and its disintegration. It is shown that a strong covalent binding between molecules of phosphorowolframates and a surface appears in the course of adsorption. High strength of this binding and also low inner strength of the chain and its flexibility provide effective protection of iron surface against wear. It is also found that at adsorption of phosphorowolframates on an iron surface, there is a change of local structure of the surface.
