Local anesthesia with ropivacaine for patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy

AIM:To investigate the effect of pain relief after infu-sion of ropivacaine at port sites at the end of ***:From October 2006 to September 2007,72 patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC) were randomized into two groups of 36 *** group received ropivacaine infusion at the port sites at the end of LC and the other received normal saline.A visual analog scale was used to assess postoperative pain when the patient awakened in the operating room,6 and 24 h after surgery,and before *** amount of analgesics use was also *** demographics,laboratory data,hospital stay,and perioperative complications were compared between the two ***:There was no difference between the two groups preoperatively in terms of demographic and lab-oratory *** surgery,similar operation time,blood loss,and no postoperative morbidity and mortality were observed in the two ***,a significantly lower pain score was observed in the patients undergo-ing LC with local anesthesia infusion at 1 h after LC and at *** analgesic use,the amount of meperidine used 1 h after LC and the total used during admission were lower in patients undergoing LC with local anesthesia *** group also had a shorter hospital ***:Local anesthesia with ropivacaine at the port site in LC patients signif icantly decreased post-operative pain *** explains the lower meperidine use and earlier discharge for these patients.

Is the expression of γ-glutamyl transpeptidase messenger RNA an indicator of biological behavior in recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma?

AIM: To investigate the correlation between gammaglutamyl transpeptidase (γ-GTP) expression in the primary HCC and post-resection recurrence and its biological ***: Forty consecutive patients having curative resection for HCC were included in this study. The primers for reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RTPCR) were corresponding to the 5'-noncoding human γ-GTP mRNA of fetal liver (type A), HepG2 cells (type B),and placenta (type C). Both the cancer and non-cancerous tissues of the resected liver were analyzed. The correlations between the expression of γ-GTP and the clinicopathological variables and outcomes (recurrence and survival) were ***: Those with type B γ-GTP mRNA in cancer had significant higher recurrence rate than those without it (63.6 % vs 14.3 %). Both those with type B in cancer and in non-cancer died significantly more than those without it (45.5 % vs 0 % and 53.6 % vs 0 %, respectively). By multivariate analysis, the significant predictors of recurrence included high serum AFP (P=0.0108), vascular permeation (P=0.0084), and type B γ-GTP mRNA in non-cancerous liver (P=0.0107). The significant predictors of postrecurrence death included high serum AFP (P=0.0141),vascular permeation (P=0.0130), and daughter nodules (P=0.0053). As to the manifestations (recurrent number ≥2, recurrent extent≥2 segments, extra-hepatic metastasis, and death) in recurrent patients, there were no statistical significant differences between those with type B in the primary tumor and those without it. The difference between those with type B in non-cancerous liver and those without it also was not ***: Patients of HCC with type B γ-GTP mRNA both in cancer and in non-cancerous tissue had a worse outcome, earlier recurrence, and more post-recurrence death.

Nowadays, with the advent of computers, data sets are so inevitably huge that bring the difficulty in performing standard statistical analysis. Hence, such large data sets must be aggregated in some fashion and the resulting summary data set becomes a more manageable size, while still retaining as much knowledge inherent to the entire data set as possible. Consequently, the data may no longer be formed as single values for classical data, but may be represented by lists, intervals, histograms and the *** summarized data are examples of symbolic data. Linear regression is one of the most important and useful tools to analyze the data. The essential importance of the model fitting on linear regression model for symbolic data was recognized by Billard and Diday(2000), however, this particular problem has not been fully resolved to date. Thus, in this paper we propose a new approach to fit the linear regression model for symbolic interval data, and compare our proposed method with the existing methods. Simulation studies and real data examples are also provided to illustrate the proposed approach.

Ore Geology,H-O-C Isotopes and 40Ar-39Ar Dating of the Wutonggou Iron Deposit,Eastern Tianshan,NW China:Implications for the Source,Timing,and Genesis of Hydrothermal Mineralization in a Sedimentary Iron Deposit

The Wutonggou iron deposit is located in the well-known iron metallogenic belt in the eastern Tianshan,NW China,and has been regarded as a sedimentary iron *** hydrothermal overprinting could play indispensable roles in the formation of high-grade iron ores in sedimentary iron deposits,previous studies mainly focused on sedimentary-related iron mineralization,while the nature and contribution of hydrothermal fluids are poorly ***,an integrated study of ore geology,H-O-C isotopes and^(40)Ar-^(39)Ar dating,is conducted on the Wutonggou deposit,in order to reveal the features,source,and timing of hydrothermal *** studied deposit includes two mining sections namely the Jianshan and ***δ^(18)O values of early magnetite from the Jianshan section range from+3.0‰to+5.8‰that nearly consistent with classic magmatic magnetite,while increase to 6.3‰-8.0‰in the late *** from the two sections shows comparable H-O isotopic compositions and identical fractionation trends,and is plotted in or periphery to the primary magmatic water *** from the two sections are broadly similar in carbon and oxygen isotopic compositions,and siderite from the Wutonggou section is plotted in the same ***,comparable stable isotopic compositions and evolution trends indicate similar magmatic fluids contributed hydrothermal iron mineralization in the two mining ***,water-rock interactions of varying degrees generated distinct mineralization styles in the Jianshan and Wutonggou sections,and caused the isotopic fractionation in late *** extracted from a hydrothermal siderite ore yielded a^(40)Ar-^(39)Ar plateau age of 299.5±2.0 Ma,indicates the timing of hydrothermal iron mineralization is corresponding to the emplacement of vicinity *** together,the hydrothermal mineralization in the Wutonggou iron deposit was the product of remobilization and upgrading of early sedimentary iron ores,a

Proteomics Study of Benzene Metabolite Hydroquinone Induced Hematotoxicity in K562 Cells

Objective Hydroquinone(HQ),one of the phenolic metabolites of benzene,is widely recognized as an important participant in benzene-induced ***,there are few relevant proteomics in HQ-induced hematotoxicity and the mechanism hasn’t been fully understood *** In this study,we treated K562 cells with 40μmol/L HQ for 72 h,examined and validated protein expression changes by Label-free proteomic analysis and Parallel reaction monitoring(PRM),and performed bioinformatics analysis to identify interaction *** One hundred and eighty-seven upregulated differentially expressed proteins(DEPs)and 279 downregulated DEPs were identified in HQ-exposed K562 cells,which were involved in neutrophilmediated immunity,blood microparticle,and other GO terms,as well as the lysosome,metabolic,cell cycle,and cellular senescence-related *** on the 23 DEGs and 5 DEPs in erythroid differentiation-related pathways,we constructed the network of protein interactions and determined 6 DEPs(STAT1,STAT3,CASP3,KIT,STAT5B,and VEGFA)as main hub proteins with the most interactions,among which STATs made a central impact and may be potential biomarkers of HQ-induced *** Our work reinforced the use of proteomics and bioinformatic approaches to advance knowledge on molecular mechanisms of HQ-induced hematotoxicity at the protein level and provide a valuable basis for further clarification.

Coupling Analysis of Multiple Machine Learning Models for Human Activity Recognition

Artificial intelligence(AI)technology has become integral in the realm of medicine and healthcare,particularly in human activity recognition(HAR)applications such as fitness and rehabilitation *** study introduces a robust coupling analysis framework that integrates four AI-enabled models,combining both machine learning(ML)and deep learning(DL)approaches to evaluate their effectiveness in *** analytical dataset comprises 561 features sourced from the UCI-HAR database,forming the foundation for training the ***,the MHEALTH database is employed to replicate the modeling process for comparative purposes,while inclusion of the WISDM database,renowned for its challenging features,supports the framework’s resilience and *** ML-based models employ the methodologies including adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS),support vector machine(SVM),and random forest(RF),for data *** contrast,a DL-based model utilizes one-dimensional convolution neural network(1dCNN)to automate feature ***,the recursive feature elimination(RFE)algorithm,which drives an ML-based estimator to eliminate low-participation features,helps identify the optimal features for enhancing model *** best accuracies of the ANFIS,SVM,RF,and 1dCNN models with meticulous featuring process achieve around 90%,96%,91%,and 93%,*** analysis using the MHEALTH dataset showcases the 1dCNN model’s remarkable perfect accuracy(100%),while the RF,SVM,and ANFIS models equipped with selected features achieve accuracies of 99.8%,99.7%,and 96.5%,***,when applied to the WISDM dataset,the DL-based and ML-based models attain accuracies of 91.4%and 87.3%,respectively,aligning with prior research *** conclusion,the proposed framework yields HAR models with commendable performance metrics,exhibiting its suitability for integration into the healthcare services system through AI-driven applications.

Abstract The mechanism underlying the antibacterial activity of probiotic strains inhibiting the growth of other microorganisms appears to be multifactorial and includes lowering of the pH,the production of organic acids and secretion of antibacterial *** modified agar overlay method in our study was used for the determination of the presence of antibacterial activity among the 12 strains of probiotics against common microbial pathogens in different regions of epithelial cells including Streptococcus pneumoniae,Escherichia coli HB101,Candida albicans and Gardnerella *** showed that Lactobacillus salivarius AP-32,*** CT-53,*** LPL28,*** ET-22,*** F-1,Bifidobacterium breve bv-77,*** RE-88 had high ability to inhibit *** growth with a inhibition zone above 3 *** the 12 strains,LPL28,ET-22,bv-77 and RE-88 possessed the higher inhibition with inhibition zones above 3.7 ***-32,CT-53,LPL28,ET-22,F-1,Enterococcus faecalis YM-73,bv-77 and RE-88 had high ability to inhibit *** HB101 growth and ET-22,bv-77,RE-88 possessed the higher inhibition with inhibition zones above4 ***-32,ET-22,LPL28 and F-1 high inhibited the growth of *** the 12 strains,LPL28 and F-1 possessed the higher inhibition with inhibition zones above 4 ***-32,*** CS-773,CT-53,LPL28,ET-22,F-1,*** CP-9,bv-77 and RE-88 showed high ability to inhibit *** *** the 12 strains,CT-53,CP-9 and bv-77 possessed the higher inhibition with inhibition zones above 3.6 *** the whole,the results indicated that AP-32,ET-22,LPL28 and F-1 had high capacity of inhibiting the growth of 4 different pathogens in vitro and perhaps were more capable to promote the mucosal barrier *** verified antibacterial activity of probiotics maybe could decrease the incidence of pathogen infection and supported the development of functional foods as a key to the improvement of health in the consuming public.

Nature provides a wealth of bio-inspiration for advanced material *** various nanomaterials into biomimetic microtextures with bioinspired functionalities has spurred increasing research interests and facilitated technological advances in various *** recent years,two-dimensional materials(2DMs)have emerged as important building block units in the biomimicry field due to their distinct chemical,physical,electrical,electrochemical,and catalytic *** this review article,various mechanically driven assembly approaches are summarized to fabricate various genealogies of biomimetic 2DM microtextures with bio-inspired ***,sequential deformation strategies are discussed to programmably construct higher dimensional 2DM microtextures,ranging from wrinkles/crumples(one-time deformation)to multiscale hierarchies(multiple deformations).Next,the current progress using higher dimensional 2DM microtextures to imitate different biological structures and/or induce bio-inspired multifunctionality is systematically *** showcases of bio-inspiration and biomimicry using different 2DM nanosheets are highlighted:(1)wrinkle patterns of an earthworm that spur the design of strain sensors with programmable working ranges and sensitivities,(2)wrinkle appearance of a Shar-Pei dog that motivates the fabrication of stretchable energy storage devices,(3)hierarchical scale textures of a desert lizard that inspire cation-induced gelation platforms for 2DM aerogels,and(4)wrinkle skin of an elephant that influences the development of 2DM protective skin for soft ***,challenges and future opportunities of adopting 2DM nanosheets to assemble biomimetic microstructures with synergistic functionalities are discussed.
