The durability of wear-resistant tetrahedral amorphous carbon（ta-C） coatings is intimately linked to their thickness and the concentration of *** enhance the lifespan of the coatings,we have prepared a multilayer coating consisting of alternating layers of Ti and ta-C,denoted as（Ti/ta-C）_n,using arc ion plating.A multi-layer structure in conjunction with stage cooling is employed to enhance the thickness and promote *** results indicate that the ID/IGvalue,representing the ratio of the intensity of the D peak to that of the G peak in Raman spectroscopy,decreases from 0.85 when no stage cooling is applied to 0.35 when stage cooling is employed,suggesting an enhancement in the fraction of sp3bonds within the *** obtained（Ti/ta-C）_n multilayer coating without peeling off has a maximum thickness of 1.14 μm,which is almost double that of the ta-C coating single layer *** the same time,the coating has a low coefficient of friction,down to 0.069,and maintains excellent friction properties with a wear rate of 3.4×10-6mm3·N-1·*** results conclusively show that the preparation technology can enhance both thickness and sp3bonding in ta-C coatings,significantly expanding their utility across tools,molds,and precision engineering components.

Herein, the de novo synthesis of atropisomeric benzofurans through the Cu/spirocyclic-pyrrolidine-oxazoline(SPDO) complex catalyze asymmetric formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition between quinones and ynamides is explored, producing a range of structurally diverse axially chiral benzofurans in satisfactory yields with good to excellent enantioselectivities. Furthermore, density functional theory calculations were applied to explain the possible reaction mechanism.

Why do humans punish free riders at their own expense? This behavior represents an evolutionary puzzle in human societies. This study explores the role of exit strategies in fostering altruistic punishment within evolutionary game theory. We extend the traditional prisoner's dilemma model by incorporating exiters, players who opt out for a small payoff while nullifying their opponent's payoff, and altruistic punishers who cooperate and punish non-cooperators. Our findings indicate that in well-mixed populations, exiters destabilize defection but do not promote altruistic punishment. In social networks, however,exiters enable altruistic punishment via cyclic dominance among altruistic punishers, defectors, and exiters. Notably, this cyclic dominance is sensitive to exit payoffs; adjustments can lead to cyclic dominance of non-punishing cooperators, defectors, and exiters, or to a bi-stable state between these two types of cyclic dominance. These results highlight the nuanced impact of exiters on altruistic punishment, emphasizing the need for careful incentivization of exit behavior. While exiters can support altruistic punishment in networked populations, their effectiveness is not a panacea and is highly sensitive to exit payoffs, indicating limits to the voluntary participation mechanism.

The Tungsten-Rhenium(W-Re) alloys,celebrated for their high melting point,strength at elevated temperatures,electrical resistivity,and radiation resistance,have been widely utilized in high-temperature components,aerospace,electronics,and nuclear *** constituents of the topologically close-packed(TCP) phases,the sigma phase(σ) and chi phase(χ) formed within W-Re alloys wield considerable influence on the mechanical properties and the stability of the *** calculations were utilized in the present work to explore the structural,thermodynamic,and electronic properties of both ordered and disordered configurations within the σ and χ phases,culminating in a systematic elucidation of the higher phase stability exhibited by the ordered *** is found that the bulk modulus of these two phases is directly proportional to the concentration of Re in the alloy,while the equilibrium volume is inversely *** thermodynamic parameters of the σ and χ phases are calculated via the mean-field potential *** similar trends observed in the isobaric heat capacity,enthalpy increment,and entropy change curves for these two phases suggest they possess comparable thermodynamic *** is noteworthy that the contribution of ionic vibrations predominantly affects the isobaric heat capacity,while the contribution of thermal electronic excitations increases linearly with *** the structure and thermodynamic properties of TCP phases in W-Re alloys at low temperatures has profound significance for optimizing material performance,microstructures features,establishing theoretical foundations,and predicting material behavior.

Five tectonic modes of mantle convection are obtained and analyzed with three-dimensional numerical models in a spherical shell domain. The five tectonic convective modes are non-plate mobile-lid, plate-like mobile-lid, episodic plate-like mobile-lid, episodic stagnant-lid, and stagnant-lid convective modes, respectively. The typical characteristics of these five tectonic modes and their numerical classification criteria based on plateness, mobility, and their standard deviations are presented and discussed. The results show that the yield stress of the lithosphere has profound effects on the tectonic convective *** the gradual increase of yield stress, the tectonic mode of mantle convection changes from one to another sequentially through the aforementioned five modes. Additionally, as the Rayleigh number increases, the range of yield stress for the platelike mobile-lid convective mode decreases, and the dimensionless transition stress between different tectonic modes ***, the dimensional transition stress between the non-plate mobile-lid convective mode and plate-like mobile-lid convective mode increases with the increase of Rayleigh number, but decreases between other tectonic modes. Furthermore, we find that the transition stress between different tectonic modes is inversely proportional to the internal heating rate, with the transition stress decreasing as the internal heating rate increases. The fitting analysis of the transition stress between tectonic modes shows that Earth's current plate tectonics correspond to a lithospheric yield stress of 150–250 MPa, which aligns with the strength of serpentinized mantle rock determined by experimental petrography. Mononuclear macrophage infiltration in the central nervous system is a prominent feature of neuroinflammation. Recent studies on the pathogenesis and progression of multiple sclerosis have highlighted the multiple roles of mononuclear macrophages in the neuroinflammatory process. Monocytes play a significant role in neuroinflammation, and managing neuroinflammation by manipulating peripheral monocytes stands out as an effective strategy for the treatment of multiple sclerosis, leading to improved patient outcomes. This review outlines the steps involved in the entry of myeloid monocytes into the central nervous system that are targets for effective intervention: the activation of bone marrow hematopoiesis, migration of monocytes in the blood, and penetration of the blood–brain barrier by monocytes. Finally, we summarize the different monocyte subpopulations and their effects on the central nervous system based on phenotypic differences. As activated microglia resemble monocyte-derived macrophages, it is important to accurately identify the role of monocyte-derived macrophages in disease. Depending on the roles played by monocyte-derived macrophages at different stages of the disease, several of these processes can be interrupted to limit neuroinflammation and improve patient prognosis. Here, we discuss possible strategies to target monocytes in neurological diseases, focusing on three key aspects of monocyte infiltration into the central nervous system, to provide new ideas for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

Wetland and habitat dynamics in the evolving landscape of the Middle yangtze River Basin

Wetlands play a critical role in the global environment. The Middle yangtze River Basin(MYRB), known for its abundant wetland resources, has experienced notable changes resulting from the complex interplay of environmental factors. Therefore, we investigated the spatiotemporal characteristics of wetland ecological quality in the MYRB from 2001 to *** the random forest(RF) regression algorithm and patch-generated land-use simulation(PLUS) model, we forecasted variations in wetland habitat quality and their determinants under the Shared Socioeconomic Pathway-Representative Concentration Pathway(SSPRCP) framework from 2035 to 2095. The main findings are as follows:(1) The RF algorithm was optimal for land-use and land-cover(LULC) classification in the MYRB from 2001 to 2020,when notable changes were observed in water bodies and buildings. However, the forested area exhibited an increase and decrease of 3.9% and 1.2% under the SSP1-2.6 and SSP5-8.5 scenarios, respectively, whereas farmland exhibited a diminishing trend.(2) Wetlands were primarily concentrated in the central and eastern MYRB, with counties in the southwest exhibiting superior ecological-environmental quality from 2001 to 2020. Notably,wetland coverage revealed significantly high level, significant changes, frequent but relatively minor changes under the SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, and SSP 5-8.5 scenarios, respectively.(3)Regions with lower habitat quality were primarily concentrated in urbanized areas characterized by frequent human activities, indicating a clear degradation in habitat quality across different scenarios. In conclusion, we established a foundational framework for future investigations into the eco-hydrological processes and ecosystem quality of watersheds.
