Study of deep transportation and plugging performance of deformable gel particles in porous media

Deformable gel particles(DGPs) possess the capability of deep profile control and flooding. However, the deep migration behavior and plugging mechanism along their path remain unclear. Breakage, an inevitable phenomenon during particle migration, significantly impacts the deep plugging effect. Due to the complexity of the process, few studies have been conducted on this subject. In this paper, we conducted DGP flow experiments using a physical model of a multi-point sandpack under various injection rates and particle sizes. Particle size and concentration tests were performed at each measurement point to investigate the transportation behavior of particles in the deep part of the reservoir. The residual resistance coefficient and concentration changes along the porous media were combined to analyze the plugging performance of DGPs. Furthermore, the particle breakage along their path was revealed by analyzing the changes in particle size along the way. A mathematical model of breakage and concentration changes along the path was established. The results showed that the passage after breakage is a significant migration behavior of particles in porous media. The particles were reduced to less than half of their initial size at the front of the porous media. Breakage is an essential reason for the continuous decreases in particle concentration, size, and residual resistance coefficient. However, the particles can remain in porous media after breakage and play a significant role in deep plugging. Higher injection rates or larger particle sizes resulted in faster breakage along the injection direction, higher degrees of breakage, and faster decreases in residual resistance coefficient along the path. These conditions also led to a weaker deep plugging ability. Smaller particles were more evenly retained along the path, but more particles flowed out of the porous media, resulting in a poor deep plugging effect. Bioinformatics analysis of aberrantly methylated-differentially expressed genes and pathways in hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM To discover methylated-differentially expressed genes(MDEGs) in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and to explore relevant hub genes and potential pathways. METHODS The data of expression profiling GSE25097 and methylation profiling GSE57956 were gained from GEO Datasets. We analyzed the differentially methylated genes and differentially expressed genes online using GEO2 R. Functional and enrichment analyses of MDEGs were conducted using the DAVID database. A protein-protein interaction(PPI) network was performed by STRING and then visualized in Cytoscape. Hub genes were ranked by cytoH ubba, and a module analysis of the PPI network was conducted by MCODE in Cytoscape software. RESULTS In total, we categorized 266 genes as hypermethylated, lowly expressed genes(Hyper-LGs) referring to endogenous and hormone stimulus, cell surface receptor linked signal transduction and behavior. In addition, 161 genes were labelled as hypomethylated, highly expressed genes(Hypo-HGs) referring to DNA replication and metabolic process, cell cycle and division. Pathway analysis illustrated that Hyper-LGs were enriched in cancer, Wnt, and chemokine signalling pathways, while Hypo-HGs were related to cell cycle and steroid hormone biosynthesis pathways. Based on PPI networks, PTGS2, PIK3 CD, CXCL1, ESR1, and MMP2 were identified as hub genes for Hyper-LGs, and CDC45, DTL, AURKB, CDKN3, MCM2, and MCM10 were hub genes for Hypo-HGs by combining six ranked methods of cytoH ubba. CONCLUSION In the study, we disclose numerous novel genetic and epigenetic regulations and offer a vital molecular groundwork to understand the pathogenesis of HCC. Hub genes, including PTGS2, PIK3 CD, CXCL1, ESR1, MMP2, CDC45, DTL, AURKB, CDKN3, MCM2, and MCM10, can be used as biomarkers based on aberrant methylation for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of HCC.

Intracranial electroencephalography study in epileptic patients with dual pathology

Acommon dual pathology observed on presurgical magnetic resonance imaging （MRI） of epilepticpatients is extrahippocampal lesions combined with mesial temporal sclerosis. The hippocampus was highly vulnerable to many types of insults. However, it is difficult to detect subtle hippocampal atrophy in some patients. The most reliable method to confirm epileptogenicity is chronic intracranial electroencephalography （EEG） monitoring. In this study, we recorded intracranial EEG signals in 11 patients with dual *** Patient enrollment We evaluated ! 1 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of dual pathology in Yuquan Hospital, China between 2007 and 2010. The patients were satisfied with the following criteria：（1） MRI showed structural lesions in the extrahippocampal lobe; （2） a postoperative follow-up period lasting at least 24 months. For all 11 patients, both seizure frequency and impact on quality of life were judged as severe enough to justify presurgical evaluation using implanted electrodes. Detailed histories of prenatal, neonatal, and early childhood events were systematically reviewed through direct interviews with the patients. Patients were initially evaluated with noninvasive methods, including scalp EEG monitoring to capture spontaneous seizures and MRI. MRI was performed using a 1.5 T scanner and included axial images parallel to the long axis of the hippocampus. Ipsilateral and contralateral hippocampal images were visually compared to confirm mesial temporal sclerosis （MTS）. EEG recording and analysis Noninvasive data （scalp EEG and MRI） identified the mesial temporal region and a neocortical lesion site as the most likely ictal onset zones. Thus, all 11 patients were examined by implanted intracranial electrodes. To investigate the mesial temporal region, we used a stereo- eletroencephalography procedure. A regression approach for seismic first-break picking

The picking efficiency of seismic first breaks(FBs)has been greatly accelerated by deep learning(DL)***,the picking accuracy and efficiency of DL methods still face huge challenges in low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)*** address this issue,we propose a regression approach to pick FBs based on bidirectional long short-term memory(Bi LSTM)neural network by learning the implicit Eikonal equation of 3D inhomogeneous media with rugged topography in the target *** employ a regressive model that represents the relationships among the elevation of shots,offset and the elevation of receivers with their seismic traveltime to predict the unknown FBs,from common-shot gathers with sparsely distributed *** from image segmentation methods which automatically extract image features and classify FBs from seismic data,the proposed method can learn the inner relationship between field geometry and *** addition,the predicted results by the regressive model are continuous values of FBs rather than the discrete ones of the binary *** picking results of synthetic data shows that the proposed method has low dependence on label data,and can obtain reliable and similar predicted results using two types of label data with large *** picking results of9380 shots for 3D seismic data generated by vibroseis indicate that the proposed method can still accurately predict FBs in low SNR *** subsequent stacked profiles further illustrate the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed *** results of model data and field seismic data demonstrate that the proposed regression method is a robust first-break picker with high potential for field application.

Triple-transforming gel prepared byβ-cyclodextrin,diphenylamine and lithium chloride in N,N-dimethylacetamide

This paper describes a triple-transforming gel system （gel-sol-gel＇） for the first time, which is a thermo-responsive and multi- component organogel prepared by β-cyclodextrin （β-CD）, diphenylamine （DPA） and lithium chloride （LiCl） in N,N-dimethyla- cetamide （DMAC） in a suitable proportion based on the supramolecular interactions. In the triple-transfomaing gel system, a gel （gel A） could be formed by β-CD, DPA and LiCl in DMAC at room temperature based on stirring, then the gel could transform into a clear solution based on heating, and then the other gel （gel B） can be formed at a relatively high temperature （Tget, the gelation temperature by heating）. The two gel states in the triple-transforming gel system have different microstructures. This gel system was characterized by OM, SEM, IR and theology.
