Using two-colour flow cytometry >200 antibodies submitted to the 8th International Workshop of Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens (HLDA8) have been analyzed for their reactivity with resting and activated CD203c+ basophils. Four antibodies either non-reactive or weakly reactive with resting basophils exhibited an increased reactivity with basophils activated by anti-IgE-mediated cross-linking of the high affinity IgE receptor (FcεRI). These include antibod- ies against CD164 (WS-80160, clone n6B6 and WS-80162, clone 67D2), as well as two reagents with previously unknown specificities that were identified as CD13 (WS-80274, clone A8) and CD107a (WS-80280, clone E63-880). The activation patterns followed either the “CD203c-like” or “CD63-like” activation profile. The CD203c profile is characterized by a rapid and significant upregulation (of CD13, CD164, and CD203c), reaching maximum levels after 5- 15 min of stimulation. The phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K)-specific inhibitor wortmannin inhibited the upregulation of these markers whereas 12-O-tetradecanoyl-phorbol-13-acetate (TPA) induced a rapid and FcεRI-independent upregulation within 1-2 min. In the CD63 profile, maximum upregulation (of CD63 and CD107a) was detected only after 20-40 min, and upregulation by TPA reached maximum levels after 60 min. In summary, our data identify CD13, CD107a, and CD164 as novel basophil-activation antigens. Based on time kinetics of upregulation, we hypothesize that molecules of the “CD203c group” and the “CD63 group” are linked to two different mechanisms of basophil activation.

Host Active Defense Responses Occur within 24 Hours after Pathogen Inoculation in the Rice Blast System

Phenotypical, cytological and molecular responses of rice to the fungus Magnaporthe grisea were studied using rice cultivars and lesion mimic plants. The cultivar Katy was susceptible to several virulent M. grisea isolates, and a Sekiguchi like-lesion mimic mutant of Katy （LmmKaty） showed enhanced resistance to these isolates. Lesion mimic phenotype of LmmKaty was rapidly induced by virulent M. grisea isolates or by avirulent ones only at high levels of inoculum. Autofluorescence （a sign of an active defense response） was visible under ultraviolet light 24 h after localized inoculation in the incompatible interaction, whereas, not evident in the compatible interaction. Autofluorescence was also observed in LmmKaty 20 h after pathogen inoculation, indicating that rapid cell death is a mechanism of LmmKaty to restrict pathogen invasion. Rapid accumulations of defense related （DR） gene transcripts, phenylalanine ammonia lyase and β-glucanase, were observed beginning at 6 h and were obvious at 16 h and 24 h after inoculation in an incompatible interaction. Rapid transcript accumulations of PR-1 and chitinase had occurred by 24 h after inoculation in an incompatible interaction. Accumulations of these transcripts were delayed in the compatible interaction. These results indicate that host active defense responses occur 24 h after pathogen inoculation and that LmmKaty exhibits enhanced resistance to M. grisea. It is suggested that the autofluorescence and expression of the DR genes after heavy inoculation are important cytological and molecular markers respectively for early determination of the host response to M. grisea in the rice blast system.

目的:分析普通用户使用电子设备/电脑的工作距离(WD)及移动电话使用距离(MPUD)的特征。方法:横向描述性研究。经过筛选后,纳入每天使用电子设备/电脑超过2h的专业人员100例,年龄20-62(平均41.2)岁,测量每位受试者工作环境中使用电子设备/电脑的工作距离(WD)、手臂长度和MPUD。结果:纳入受检者WD明显长于MPUD(61.22±12.35 vs 32.22±6.35 cm;P<0.001),MPUD明显短于臂长(74.44±4.65 cm;P<0.001)。4%和91%的受检者WD和MPUD分别小于或等于40 cm。WD与MPUD、手臂长度均呈弱相关性(r=0.387,P<0.001;r=0.260,P<0.001)。不同职业受试者WD有显著差异(P=0.021),军队人员相比大学研究人员和讲师的WD更长(P=0.025)。结论:普通用户使用电子设备/电脑的工作距离与移动电话使用距离差别较大,移动电话使用距离较近,这对于矫正老视具有一定的参考意义。

At present, Argentina does not count with a production of indigenous yeast strains with suitable technological and oenological features to be used in the regional winery industry. Isolation and molecular characterization of these microorganisms and its fermentation attributes would be relevant to the sustainable development of the activity in the country and to recognize and preserve the biodiversity of the region. Eight strains isolated from grapes and musts from the north Patagonian region and genetically identified as Saccharomyces cerevisiae, were studied for their fermentation behavior, emphasizing in hexose transport through the plasma membrane, which is the limiting step of the process. Thus, sugar consumption profiles were analyzed in different media at laboratory scale, to be subsequently applied to the fermentation of natural musts. Three of the eight initial strains were selected, named nnM10, nIF8 and nMn16 according to their fermentation profiles. The expression of hexose transporters during fermentations revealed interesting differences in the response of each strain to sugar consumption, where transporters HXT2 and HXT5 showed significant changes in expression in Patagonian strains, which are normally associated to endurance to culture stress conditions. The results obtained by combining the characteristics studied, at molecular and physiological level, are extremely encouraging. native strain nMn16, showed a high potential for application in local winemaking. Assays carried out on a pilot scale will determine the feasibility of applying this strain with promising technological features at industrial scale.

We present a study of their structure, morphology, electrical and magnetic properties on the (Ca1–xSrx) RuO3 system for x = 0.0, 0.07, 0.10, 0.15 and 1.0. The samples were prepared by the solidstate reaction method in air at ambient pressure and heat in the 700℃ - 800℃ range for 48 h. By X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), we determine a solid solution until x = 0.15. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) indicates that the particle size is 77 - 266 nm. The resistance measurements, as a function of temperature measurements from 7 to 300 K the (Ca1–xSrx) RuO3 system for x = 0.0, 0.07, 0.10, 0.15 and 1.0 show a metallic behaviour. We can even observe that the resistance of the samples is due to the partial substitution of Sr2+ ions and Ru ion valence. Finally, the sample x = 0.07 has a magnetization applied high field to 10 K, whereas that to 300 K does not have a magnetization.

Let X be a connected non-normal 4-valent arc-transitive Cayley graph on a dihedral group Dn such that X is bipartite, with the two bipartition sets being the two orbits of the cyclic subgroup within Dn. It is shown that X is isomorphic either to the lexicographic product Cn[2K1] with n 〉 4 even, or to one of the five sporadic graphs on 10, 14, 26, 28 and 30 vertices, respectively.
