Antibiofilm activity of a-mangostin extracted from Garcinia mangostana L. against Staphylococcus aureus

Objective: To isolate a-mangostin(AMG) from the peels of mangosteen(Garcinia mangostana L.), grown in Vietnam, and to investigate antibiofilm activity of this compound against three Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus) strains, one of which was methicillin-resistant S. aureus(MRSA) and the other two strains were methicillinsensitive S. aureus(MSSA).Methods: AMG in n-hexane fraction was isolated on a silica gel column and chemically analyzed by HPLC and NMR. The antibiofilm activity of this compound was investigated by using a 96-well plate model for the formation of biofilms. Biofilm biomass was quantified using crystal violet. The viability of cells was observed under confocal microscopy using LIVE/DEAD Bac Light stains. Biofilm composition was determined using specific chemical and enzyme tests for polysaccharide, protein and DNA. Membranedamaging activity was assayed by measuring the hemolysis of human red blood cells in presence of ***: The results indicated that the isolated AMG, with a purity that exceeded 98%,had minimal inhibitory concentrations in the range of 4.6–9.2 mmol/L for the three strains tested. Interestingly, the MSSA strains were more sensitive to AMG than the MRSA strain. Minimal bactericidal concentrations were 2-fold higher than the minimal inhibitory concentration values for the three strains, indicating that AMG was a bactericidal compound. AMG also prevented biofilm formation effectively, albeit that again the MRSA strain was the most resistant. Interestingly, biofilms of the MRSA strain contained protein as a main component of the extracellular matrix, whereas this was polysaccharide in the MSSA strains. This might relate to the resistance of the MRSA 252 strain to *** using human red blood cells indicated that AMG caused significant membrane damage with 50% of cell lysis occurred at concentration of about 36 mmol/***: Our results provide evidence that the isolated AMG has inhibitory activity against biofilm formation

AIM:To determine the dry eye(DE)rate and its relationship with disease stage in patients with primary ***:A cross-sectional study included 432 patients with primary hypertension(with an equal number of patients in each group:144 in stage Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅲ hypertension)and 144 healthy subjects as a control *** Ocular Surface Disease Index(OSDI)and Schirmer Ⅰ test without anesthetics were conducted on all 576 *** with OSDI scorestage:27.1% in stage Ⅰ,40.3% in stage Ⅱ,and 57.6% in stage Ⅲ,P<***,duration of hypertension,plasma urea,creatinine,and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(CRP-hs)levels in hypertension patients with DE were higher than those without DE,P<*** age,a long duration of hypertension,diabetes mellitus,elevated plasma creatinine,and CRP-hs levels were independent factors associated with DE in primary hypertension patients,P<***:DE is a common disorder associated with advanced age,a long duration of hypertension,diabetes mellitus,elevated plasma CRP-hs,and creatinine levels in patients with primary hypertension.

New Results on H_(∞) Control for Nonlinear Conformable Fractional Order Systems

This paper deals with H_(∞) control problem for nonlinear conformable fractional order systems. The authors first derive new sufficient condition for exponential stability of nonlinear conformable fractional order systems based on Lyapunov-like function method for conformable fractional order systems and linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) approach. Then, by introducing a new concepts of H_(∞) control problem for nonlinear conformable fractional order systems, the authors study H_(∞) performance analysis and H_(∞) state feedback controller design problems for the considered systems. In terms of LMIs, a sufficient condition is proposed to ensure the nonlinear conformable fractional order systems are not only exponentially stable, but also satisfy H_(∞) performance γ. An explicit expression for state feedback controllers is also designed to make the closed-loop system is exponentially stable with H_∞performance γ. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed results.

Bacterial leaf blight of rice (BLB), caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, is one of the most destructive diseases in Asian rice fields. A high-quality rice variety, LT2, was used as the recipient ***21, which carries the Xa21 gene, was used as the donor parent. The resistance gene Xa21 was introduced into LT2 by marker-assisted backcrossing. Three Xoo races were used to inoculate the improved lines following the clipping method. Eleven BC_3F_3 lines carrying Xa21 were obtained based on molecular markers and agronomic performance. The 11 lines were then inoculated with the three Xoo races. All the 11 improved lines showed better resistance to BLB than the recipient parent LT2. Based on the level of resistance to BLB and their agronomic performance, five lines (BC_3F_3 5.***.5.1, BC_3F_3 5.***.5.12, BC_3F_3 8.***.6.44, BC_3F_3 9.***.4.1 and BC_3F_3 9.***.4.23) were selected as the most promising for commercial release. These improved lines could contribute to rice production in terms of food security.

中国市场上越南与泰国农产品竞争力的比较研究

中国拥有14亿人口,是世界上最大农产品需求市场。随着中国经济快速发展与转型,其在科技含量、资本密集型产品生产等方面有较明显的比较优势,但在农产品,尤其是土地密集型农产品方面处于比较劣势的地位,每年对农产品进口的需求量较大。目前已成为世界第一大农产品进口国。越南与泰国在农产品生产方面均具有比较优势。其自然资源禀赋相近,生产农产品的种类相似,对中国市场出口的农产品每年都占各自农产品总出口的较大比重,在中国农产品市场上存在一定的竞争关系。对越南和泰国农产品在中国市场上的竞争力进行比较研究,测量其竞争水平并分析影响竞争力的因素,在促进越中和泰中农产品贸易可持续发展这一方面具有重要意义。本文利用联合国商品贸易数据库的数据,分析了出口中国市场的农产品对越南和泰国经济的重要性,以及越南和泰国农产品在中国市场上的地位。越南与泰国农产品出口中国市场贸易快速增长,占两国农产品总出口较大比重,其农产品出口中国市场对越南与泰国国民经济的重要性不言而喻。越南与泰国农产品出口中国市场相似性指数很高意味着两国农产品在中国市场存在竞争关系,一些产品出口额增长过程出现交替现象。越南与泰国主要农产品在中国市场的显示性比较优势较高,然相比之下,越南水果、水产品在中国市场上更有竞争优势,泰国木薯的竞争优势大于越南,大米的比较优势存在交叉起落的现象,而农产品制成品在中国市场均无优势。从市场份额模型看,越南与泰国农产品竞争力因素是引起两国农产品贸易额快速增长的原因,这表示两国农产品在中国市场竞争力很激烈,同时也发现两国主要农产品出口中国市场的贸易结构不合理。越南与泰国农产品在中国市场的出口,都存在一些制约因素。越南农产品出口中国市场大部分以原材料或初级产品的状态出口,价格低廉,很难深入中国高端市场,且由于农产品生产规模小、较为分散,加工技术落后,科技研发投资力度不足、缺乏优质品种,企业的国际品牌意识不高,政府和企业投资力度不足,不重视市场调查研究导致市场信息稀缺。与越南相比,泰国农产品具有良好的生产条件和贸易环境,但贸易产品对中国市场还存在着贸易结构不合理、生产与运输成本高于越南。

Viral co-infections among children with confirmed measles at hospitals in Hanoi,Vietnam,2014

Objective:To characterize viral co-infections among representative hospitalized measles cases during the 2014 Hanoi ***:Throat swabs were collected from 54 pediatric patients with confirmed measles,and molecular diagnostics performed for 10 additional viral respiratory pathogens(Influenza A/H1N1pdm09;A/H3N2 and influenza B;Parainfluenza 1,2,3;Respiratory Synctial Virus,RSV;human Metapneumovirus,hM PV;Adenovirus and Picornavirus).Results:Twenty-one cases(38.9%) showed evidence of infection with other respiratory viruses:15 samples contained measles plus one additional virus,and 6 samples contained measles plus 2 additional *** was detected as a predominant cause of co-infections(13 cases;24.1%),followed by RSV(6 cases;11.1%),A/H1N1pdm09(3 cases;5.6%),PIV3(3 cases;3.7%),Rhinovirus(3 cases;3.7%) and hM PV(1 case;1.96%).Conclusions:Viral co-infections identified from pediatric measles cases may have contributed to increased disease severity and high rate of fatal *** treatment of measles cases may require control of multiple viral respiratory pathogens.

森林是陆地生态系统的重要组成部分,在调节气候、涵养水源、保持水土方面起着重要作用。森林生态系统的生物丰富度指数、植被覆盖指数等也常被作为表征区域生态环境质量的关键指标,同时,也对维持区域社会经济活动有着巨大的价值。在越南,国家公园是通过相关法规并由政府划定的区域,是提高越南生物多样性的有效管理措施。菊方国家公园是越南成立的第一个国家公园,成立于1966年,其主要保护对象为森林生态系统、岩溶生态系统和野生动植物的遗传资源。菊芳国家公园一直以来受到国际组织和越南政府的关注和大力资助,在生态环境保护上取得了一定成效。然而,越南作为发展中国家,保护区周围当地居民的生计对自然资源的开发有较大的需求,因此对菊芳国家公园森林资源进行动态监测是该区域生态环境保护和可持续发展中需要重点关注的问题。目前,国内外学者对森林覆盖的变化及其驱动因子进行了大量的研究,但较少考虑居民生计等社会经济因素的影响。研究菊方国家公园森林覆盖的时空变化及自然-社会驱动因子,对于揭示保护区生态状况的变化具有重要意义,为后续管理方案的制定、调整提供理论依据。本研究基于菊方国家公园1990年、2000年、2010年和2020年共四期的卫星遥感影像数据,基于最大似然法,借助Arc GIS和ENVI等地理信息系统绘制1990—2020年的植被覆盖图,分析菊方国家公园森林覆盖的时空格局变化。结合社会经济调查数据,利用生计分析方法DFI(Department for International Development)和SWOT(Strengths,Weaknesses,Opportunities and Threats)分析方法,评估菊方国家公园缓冲区社区居民生计活动的可持续性和旅游业发展现状,进行森林覆盖变化驱动因素分析,探寻菊方国家公园实现可持续发展的方案。研究结果表明:(1)1990—2020年间,菊方国家公园的植被覆盖呈增加趋势,其中天然林的面积增加幅度最大。1990—2000年,天然林明显增加的区域集中在菊方国家公园缓冲区及附近的区域,这一时期天然林的面积增加了0.12 x 10ha。2000—2010年,菊芳国家公园的植被覆盖仍呈增加趋势,主要集中在河滨及国家公园南部和北部,这个时期天然林增加的面积为0.03x10ha。2010—2020年植被变化区域主要集中在国家公园北部和东南部,天然林面积增加了0.17x x10 ha。三个时期的天然林增加面积均主要由次生林转变而来,裸地也有少量的贡献。(2)在1990-2020年,菊方国家公园植被面积增加的主要原因为随着对国家公园资金投入的不断提高,核心区居民迁出政策得到有效实施,最大程度降低了社区居民活动对国家公园内森林资源的影响。生计分析方法DFI综合评估结果显示,基于社会、经济、环境、机构4个领域的12条标准,菊方国家公园缓冲区社区居民的生计活动有7条符合可持续性原则。(3)2010—2019年,菊方国家公园的游客数量翻了一番,其中86.5%的游客表示会再次前来参观,13.5%的游客没有再次参观的打算。从发展的角度来看,提升菊方国家公园的基础设施,以满足国家公园旅游业的需求是有必要的;从保护的角度出发,必须禁止非法狩猎和野生动植物贸易,以减少菊方国家公园生物多样性的丧失。综上,菊方国家公园植被的增加很可能得益于管理委员会对资金的有效利用,体现在积极寻找国际组织的投资,优先国家公园内的基础设施建设,提高工作人员薪酬和开展相关科学研究等方面。然而,不能只从发展或保护的角度提出解决方案,应将旅游活动与环境保护相结合,提高菊方国家公园的可持续发展潜力。

Subclavian Arterial Bleeding during Permanent Pacemaker Implantation: Clinical Case Report and Literature Review

Research objective: To study a clinical case that had a complication of subclavian artery bleeding during permanent pacemaker implantation process. Subject and Method: Clinical case report and literature review. Study of a patient had an indication for permanent pacemaker implantation who had complication of subclavian artery bleeding during the procedure. Result: An 84-year-old female patient was admitted to the hospital because of fainting spells with chest pain, on the background of dangerous complex arrhythmias and ischemic heart disease, and was prescribed a pacemaker for this patient. The patient had complication occurred during the procedure, which left subclavian artery bleeding was detected and treated promptly, a cardiac pacemaker was implanted on the right side of the chest, and the patient had a successful endovascular stent cover in the left subclavian artery. Conclude: Subclavian artery bleeding is a rare complication in the procedure of permanent pacemaker implantation, but it can still occur and requires quick detection and timely treatment, needs to be successful in cardiac pacemaker placement and subclavian artery drug-eluting stent cover placement intervention. Individualized patient risk assessment is needed;appropriate and standardized intervention techniques and experience can reduce the occurrence of this variable.
