The below-cloud aerosol scavenging process by precipitation is one of the most important mechanisms to remove aerosols from the *** to its complexity and dependence on both aerosol and raindrop sizes,wet scavenging process has been poorly treated,especially during the removal of fine *** makes the numerical simulation of below-cloud scavenging in large-scale aerosolmodels *** consider the slip effects of submicron particles,a simplified expression for the diffusion scavenging was developed by approximating the Cunningham slip correction *** derived analytic solution was parameterized as a simple power function of rain intensity under the assumption of the lognormal size distribution of *** resultant approximated expression was compared to the observed data and the results of previous studies including a 3D atmospheric chemical transport model *** with the default GEOS-Chem coefficient of 0.00106R0.61 and the observation-based coefficient of 0.0144R0.9268,the coefficient of a and b in∧m=aRb spread in the range of 0.0002-0.1959 for a and 0.3261-0.525 for b over a size distribution of GSD of 1.3–2.5 and a geometric mean diameter of 0.01-2.5μ***,this study showed that the scavenging coefficient varies widely by orders of magnitude according to the size distribution of particles and rain *** study also demonstrated that the obtained simplified expression could consider the theoretical approach of aerosol *** proposed analytic approach showed that results can be effectively applied for reduced computational burden in atmospheric modeling.

The heart is an unusual site of metastasis from any malignancy. We report a case of cardiac metastasis from colorectal cancer. A 70-year-old woman was referred with a presumptive diagnosis of sigmoid colon cancer with cardiac myxoma. Two-dimensional echocardiography showed a 4 cm x 4.5 cm mobile mass on the lateral right atrial wall, and computed tomography revealed a low attenuated Iobulating mass in the right atrium. The patient underwent anterior resection for sigmoid colon cancer （T4N2）. Thereafter, she experienced progressive shortness of breath. Therefore, a cardiac operation was performed 2 wk after the colorectal operation. Histological examination revealed adenocarcinoma, which was identical to the primary lesion. Although two- dimensional echocardiography has become the diagnostic test of choice for detecting cardiac tumors, in patients with colorectal cancer showing a cardiac mass, further diagnostic evaluation such as a magnetic resonance imaging might be necessary.

AIM:To investigate the long-term results of penetrating keratoplasty(PK)in patients with keratoconus(KC)and to evaluate factors that might influence the final visual ***:We retrospectively reviewed the data of all patients with clinical KC who had undergone PK by a single corneal surgeon in a single center from May 1980to December *** age of the patients,preoperative best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),corneal thickness,death to preservation time,and preservation to transplantation time were ***,postoperative complications such as graft rejection,development of glaucoma and specular microscopy were checked during the ***:Sixty-nineeyesfrom69patientswerefinally *** follow-up period was 8.64±*** rejection occurred in 4 eyes of 69 cases(5.8%),and the time to graft rejection was 2.1±1.3y.A Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the estimated cumulative probability of graft rejection at 6,13,and 17y after PK were 95.6%,90.0%,and 78.8%,*** we evaluated factors that might influence final BCVA in eyes,no disparity donor-host trephine size(same graft size)as well as higher spherical equivalent,and average Kvalue were associated with higher final BCVA.(P=0.006,0.051,0.092,and 0.021 in eyes with follow-upchange and low average K-reading,as well as a surgical technique using the same size donor-recipient button may provide better visual outcomes particularly in patients with KC.

AIM: To access the short-term outcomes of simultaneous laparoscopic surgery combined with resection for synchronous lesions in patients with colorectal cancer. METHODS: Between March 1996 and April 2010 prospectively collected data were reviewed from 93 consecutive patients who had colorectal cancer and underwent simultaneous multiple organ resection (combined group) and 1090 patients who underwent conventional laparoscopic right hemicolectomy or laparoscopic low/ anterior resection for colorectal cancer (non-combined group). In the combined group, there were nine gastric resections, three nephrectomies, nine adrenalectomies, 56 cholecystectomies, and 21 gynecologic resections. In addition, f ive patients underwent simultaneous laparoscopic resection for three organs. The patient demographics, intra-operative outcomes, surgical morbidity, and short-term outcomes were compared between thetwo groups (the combined and non-combined groups). RESULTS: There were no signifi cant differences in the clinicopathological variables between the two groups. The operating time was signifi cantly longer in the combined group than in the non-combined group, regardless of tumor location (laparoscopic right hemicolectomy and laparoscopic low/anterior resection groups; P = 0.048 and P < 0.001, respectively). The other intraoperative outcomes, such as the complications and open conversion rate, were similar in both groups. The rate of post-operative morbidity in the combined group was similar to the non-combined group (combined vs non-combined, 15.1% vs 13.5%, P = 0.667). Oncological safety for the colon and synchronous lesions were obtained in the combined group. CONCLUSION: Simultaneous laparoscopic multiple organ resection combined with colorectal cancer is a safe and feasible option in selected patients.

The objective of this study was to develop equations for estimating ileal digestible crude protein(CP)and metabolizable energy(ME)contents of meat meal(MM)and meat and bone meal(MBM)as feed in-gredients for pigs based on in vitro *** ingredients were 4 sources of MM and 3 sources of *** and CP contents of the ingredients ranged from 3.8%to 33.1%and 46.8%to 82.9%(as-is basis),*** vitro ileal disappearance(IVID)of CP was determined and ileal digestible CP content was calculated by multiplying CP content by IVID of *** vitro total tract disappearance(IVTTD)of dry matter(DM)was determined and ME was calculated using gross energy,CP contents,and IVTTD of *** IVID of CP and IVTTD of DM ranged from 77.2%to 88.7%and from 82.7%to 92.4%,*** ileal digestible CP and ME contents ranged from 37.8%to 73.5%DM and 2,405 to 3,905 kcal/kg DM,*** contents were negatively correlated(P<0.001)with CP(r=-0.99),in vitro ileal digestible CP(r=-0.97),gross energy(r-1.00),in vitro digestible energy(r=-0.97),and adjusted ME(r=-0.97).The most fitting equations for ileal digestible CP and adjusted ME were:ileal digestible CP(%DM)=11.91-0.90×Ash(%DM)+0.74×IVID of CP(%)(R2=0.99)and adjusted ME(kcal/kg DM)=130.85-50.90×ash(%DM)+47.06×IVTTD of DM(%)(R2=0.99).To validate the accuracy of the prediction equations for ME,mean bias and linear bias were determined using a regression *** ME values of MM and MBM were in a good agreement with data obtained from animal ex-periments based on a statistically insignificant bias in the *** conclusion,ME concentrations of MM and MBM as swine feed ingredients can be calculated using ash concentration and in vitro disap-pearance of dry matter.

Lymphangioma usually occurs in children and usually involves the skin. Mesenteric lymphangioma is extremely rare in adults. Typically, lymphangioma appears on computed tomography (CT) as a lower attenuation of a cystic mass, however, some cases appear to be a solid mass. We describe the CT and 18F-FDG positron emission tomography/CT appearance in a case of jejunal and mesenteric cavernous lymphangi-omatosis mimicking metastasis in an adult patient with rectal cancer.
