Investigation on the vortical structures by the Liutex method in turbulent channels at Re_(τ)=180 with scalloped and triangular riblet control

Riblets are a series of small protrusions formed along the flow direction,which have been extensively studied as a passive turbulent drag reduction *** and numerical simulations have shown that well-designed riblets can significantly reduce drag in turbulent flows,making them highly promising and valuable for various *** this study,we focus on a scalloped riblet,which is designed by smoothly connecting two third-order polynomials,and thus the sharpness of the tip and the curvature of the valley can be well *** conduct direct numerical simulations of turbulent channel with smooth plate,scalloped riblet-mounted and triangular riblet-mounted *** in wall units of W^(+)=20 and height-width ratio ofγ=0.5 are selected for both riblet *** with the smooth plate case,the scalloped riblet case achieves an 8.68%drag reduction,while the triangular riblet case achieves a 4.79%drag *** obtained drag reduction rate of the triangular riblet is consistent with previous experiments and simulations,and the results indicate that the scalloped riblet is more effective in reducing drag and deserves further *** compare turbulent statistics of the scalloped riblet case with those of the triangular riblet *** mean velocity profiles of riblets are similar,but both the Reynolds shear stress and second-order statistics of velocity fluctuations and Liutex are significantly reduced in the scalloped riblets controlled turbulent channel,indicating that the scalloped riblet can more effectively suppress the spanwise and wall-normal turbulent intensity near the *** also compare the pre-multiplied spectra of streamwise velocity and streamwise Liutex component for the three cases to investigate the energy distribution and characteristics of Liutex *** Liutex vortex identification method is also utilized to analyze the instantaneous flow field,which provides insights into the flow field and could be bene

Mitochondrial calcium uniporter(MCU)is a conserved calcium ion(Ca^(2+))transporter in the mitochondrial inner membrane of eukaryotic *** MCU proteins regulate Ca^(2+)flow and modulate plant cell development remain largely ***,we identified the gene GhMCU4 encoding a MCU protein that negatively regulates plant development and fiber elongation in cotton(Gossypium hirsutum).GhMCU4expressed constitutively in various tissues with the higher transcripts in elongating fiber *** of GhMCU4 in cotton significantly elevated the plant height and root *** calcium signaling pathway was significantly activated and calcium sensor genes,including Ca^(2+)dependent modulator of interactor of constitutively active ROP(GhCMI1),calmodulin like protein(GhCML46),calciumdependent protein kinases(GhCPKs),calcineurin B-like protein(GhCBLs),and CBL-interacting protein kinases(GhCIPKs),were dramatically upregulated in GhMCU4-silenced *** processes were preferentially enriched,and genes related to regulation of transcription were upregulated in GhMCU4-silenced *** contents of Ca^(2+)and H_(2)O_(2)were significantly increased in roots and leaves of GhMCU4-silenced *** length and Ca^(2+)and H_(2)O_(2)contents in fibers were significantly increased in GhMCU4-silenced *** study indicated that GhMCU4 plays a negative role in regulating cell elongation in cotton,thus expanding understanding in the role of MCU proteins in plant growth and development.

Water management is an important practice that affects fruit size and *** implementation of irrigation scheduling requires knowledge of the appropriate indicators and thresholds,which are established manly based on the effects of water deficits on final fruit *** studies have focused on the real-time effects of water status on fruit and shoot *** establish soil water potential (ψ_(soil)) thresholds to trigger irrigation of peach at pivotal fruit developmental stages,photogrammetry,^(13)C labelling,and other techniques were used in this study to investigate real-time changes in stem diameter,fruit projected area,net leaf photosynthetic rate (P_(n)),and allocation of photoassimilates to fruit under soil water potential conditions ranging from saturation to stress in 6-year-old Shimizu hakuto’*** growth,fruit growth,and P_n exhibited gradually decreasing sensitivity to water deficits during fruit developmental stages I,II,and *** diameter growth was significantly inhibited whenψ_(soil)dropped to-8.5,-7.6,and-5.4 k Pa,*** growth rate was low,reaching zero when theψ_(soil)was-9.0 to-23.1,-14.9 to-21.4,and-16.5 to-23.3 k Pa,respectively,and P_ndecreased significantly when theψ_(soil)reached-24.2,-22.7,and-20.4 kPa,*** addition,more photoassimilates were allocated to fruit under moderateψ_(soil)conditions (-10.1 to-17.0 k Pa) than under otherψ_(soil)*** results revealed threeψ_(soil)thresholds,-10.0,-15.0,and-15.0 kPa,suitable for triggering irrigation during stages I,II,and III,*** thresholds can be helpful for controlling excessive tree vigor,maintaining rapid fruit growth and leaf photosynthesis,and promoting the allocation of more photoassimilates to fruit.

Microplastic and Heavy Metals Distributions in Urban Rivers Sediments,China

This study investigated the distribution of microplastics and heavy metals,along with the interaction between the two in the sediments of urban rivers in *** showed that the abundance of microplastics ranged from 2412±187.5 to 7638±1312items kg^(-1)dry sediment across different survey stations,with an average abundance at(4388±713)items kg^(-1)dry *** further categorization,it was found that transparent fragments were the primary color and type of microplastics *** potential ecological risk index(RI)of heavy metals in sediments suggested a low level of ecological risk within a majority of the urban rivers *** was identified as the main potential ecological risk factor in the sediments of the studied *** was a relatively good significant linear relationship between the RI of heavy metals and the abundance of microplastics,bolstering the linkage between these two environmental ***,the concentrations of heavy metals in microplastics were not dependent on their corresponding contents in *** fact,the concentration of Cu,Cd,and As in microplastics were higher than those in the *** finding confirmed that microplastics could serve as carriers of heavy metals and introduce potential risks to aquatic wildlife and human through the food chain.

In situ carbon-coated Co_(3)Se_(4)/CoSe_(2)(Co_(x)Se_(y))nanoparticles(NPs)attached on three-dimensional(3D)reduced graphene oxide(rGO)sheets were skillfully developed in this work,which involved the environment-friendly hydrothermal method,freeze drying,and selenide *** the structure,the glucose-derived carbon layer exhibited significantly homogeneous dispersion under an argon *** structure not only has enhanced stability,but also can effectively mitigate the volume swell of Co_(x)Se_(y) *** resulted Co_(3)Sea/CoSe_(2)@C/rGO(CSe@C/rGO)exhibited a specific surface area(SSA)of 240.9 m^(2)·g^(-1),offering more electrochemically active sites for the storage of energy related to lithium *** rGO matrix held exceptional flexibility and functional structural rigidity,facilitating the swift ion intercalation and ensuring the high conductivity and recyclability of the *** applied to anodes designed for lithium-ion batteries(LiBs),this material demonstrated distinguished rate and ultra-high reversible capacity(872.98 mA·h·g^(-1) at 0.5 A·g^(-1)).Meanwhile,its capacity retention reached 119.5%after 500 cycles at 2 A·g^(-1),with a coulombic efficiency of 100%.This work potentially paves the way for generating fast and powerful metal selenide anodes and initiating LiBs with good performance.

Decreasing of layer thickness causes the decrease of polarization until it disappears due to the existence of depolarization ***,the search for strong piezoelectric materials is highly desirable for multifunctional ultra-thin piezoelectric ***,we propose a common strategy for achieving strong piezoelectric materials through the electronic asymmetry induced by the intrinsically asymmetric atomic character of different chalcogen ***,in the tetrahedral lattice structures,for example,M4X3Y3(M=Pd/Ni,X/Y=S,Se or Te,X≠Y)monolayers are proved to display excellent out-of-plane ***4Se3Te3 possesses the largest piezoelectric coefficient d33 of 61.57 pm/V,which is much larger than that of most 2D *** the electronic asymmetry further increases the out-of-plane piezoelectricity of Janus M4X3Y3 ***,the out-of-plane piezoelectricity is positively correlated with the ratio of electronegativity difference(Red)and the electric dipole moment(P).This work provides alternative materials for energy harvesting nano-devices or self-energized wearable devices,and supplies a valuable guideline for predicting 2D materials with strong out-of-plane piezoelectricity.

Although there have been significant advances in the treatment of heart failure in recent years,chronic heart failure remains a leading cause of cardiovascular disease-related *** studies have found that targeted cardiac metabolic remodeling has good potential for the treatment of heart ***,most of the drugs that increase cardiac energy are still in the theoretical or testing *** research has found that botanical drugs not only increase myocardial energy metabolism through multiple targets but also have the potential to restore the balance of myocardial substrate *** this review,we summarized the mechanisms by which botanical drugs(the active ingredients/formulas/Chinese patent medicines)improve substrate utilization and promote myocardial energy metabolism by activating AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK),peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors(PPARs)and other related *** the same time,some potential protective effects of botanical drugs on myocardium,such as alleviating oxidative stress and dysbiosis signaling,caused by metabolic disorders,were briefly discussed.

Atomistic study on the microscopic mechanism of grain boundary embrittlement induced by small dense helium bubbles in iron

The helium bubbles induced by 14 MeV neutron irradiation can cause intergranular fractures in reduced activation ferritic martensitic steel,which is a candidate structural material for fusion *** order to elucidate the susceptibility of different grain boundaries(GBs)to helium-induced embrittlement,the tensile fracture processes of 10 types of GBs with and without helium bubbles in body-centered cubic(bcc)iron at the relevant service temperature of 600 K were investigated via molecular dynamics *** results indicate that in the absence of helium bubbles,the GBs studied here can be classified into two distinct categories:brittle GBs and ductile *** atomic scale analysis shows that the plastic deformation of ductile GB at high temperatures originates from complex plastic deformation mechanisms,including the Bain/Burgers path phase transition and deformation twinning,in which the Bain path phase transition is the most dominant plastic deformation ***,the presence of helium bubbles severely inhibits the plastic deformation channels of the GBs,resulting in a significant decrease in elongation at *** bubble-decorated GBs,the ultimate tensile strength increases with the increase in the misorientation ***,the coherent twin boundary∑3{112}was found to maintain relatively high fracture strength and maximum failure strain under the influence of helium bubbles.
