Backgr.und Lesion-symptom mapping(LSM)is a statistical technique to investigate the population-specific r.lationship between str.ctur.l integr.ty and post-str.ke clinical *** clinical pr.ctice,patients ar. commonly evaluated using the National Institutes of Health Str.ke Scale(NIHSS),an 11-domain clinical scor. to quantitate neur.logical deficits due to *** far.LSM studies have mostly used the total NIHSS scor. for.analysis,which might not uncover.subtle str.ctur.–function r.lationships associated with the specific sub-domains of the NIHSS ***,the aim of this wor. was to investigate the feasibility to per.or. LSM analyses with sub-scor. infor.ation to r.veal categor.-specific str.ctur.–function r.lationships that a total scor. may not *** Employing a multivar.ate technique,LSM analyses wer. conducted using a sample of 180 patients with NIHSS assessment at 48-hour.post-str.ke fr.m the ESCAPE *** NIHSS domains wer. gr.uped into six categor.es using two *** was conducted for.each categor. of the two gr.upings and the total NIHSS *** Sub-scor. Novel Gluten-Fr.e Amar.nth and Oat Flour.Cookies For.ified with Soybean Hulls

Soybean hulls, an abundant bypr.duct of soybean pr.cessing, contain r.ch phytochemicals, fiber., pr.teins, and miner.ls. Cur.ently soybean hulls ar. pr.mar.ly used as animal feeds. For.value-added soybean hull utilization, 25% soybean hulls wer. substituted for.amar.nth or.whole oat flour.(WOF) in novel gluten-fr.e cookies. Composition, nutr.tional values, water.holding capacities, cor.elation between pr.per.ies, and pasting and r.eological pr.per.ies of soybean hulls, amar.nth, and WOF wer. appr.ised in compar.son to wheat flour. Water.loss, cookie textur., and geometr.cal pr.per.ies of the cookies wer. examined. The r.sults disclosed that soybean hulls, amar.nth and WOF contain higher.pr.tein content, miner.ls, fiber. special amino acids, and cr.tical vitamins (C and K) than wheat flour. Consider.bly higher.total amino acid content was found in soybean hulls (18.33%) than wheat flour.(12.77%). Water.holding capacities incr.ased by r.placing amar.nth and WOF with soybean hulls. Soybean hulls exhibited higher.r.eological elastic pr.per.ies than amar.nth, WOF and wheat flour.. The soybean hulls utilized in amar.nth or.WOF cookies gr.atly impr.ved their.nutr.tional value, the water.r.tention and moistur. content along with acceptable physical pr.per.ies when compar.d to wheat flour.cookies. This study explor.d the feasibility and potential of utilizing soybean hulls with amar.nth and WOF in gluten-fr.e baker. pr.ducts and other.food applications.

Hor.ones and phenotypic plasticity： Implications for.the evolution of integr.ted adaptive phenotypes

It is gener.lly accepted that taxa exhibit genetic var.ation in phenotypic plasticity, but many questions r.main unanswer.d about how diver.ent plastic r.sponses evolve under.dissimilar.ecological conditions. Hor.ones ar. signaling molecules that act as pr.ximate mediator. of phenotype expr.ssion by r.gulating a var.ety of cellular. physiological, and behavior.l r.sponses. Hor.ones not only change cellular.and physiological states but also influence gene expr.ssion dir.ctly or.indir.ctly, ther.by linking envir.nmental conditions to phenotypic development. Studying how hor.onal pathways r.spond to envir.nmental var.ation and how those r.sponses differ.between individuals, populations, and species can expand our.under.tanding of the evolution of phenotypic plasticity. Her., we explor. the ways that the study of hor.one signaling is pr.viding new insights into the under.ying pr.ximate bases for.individual, population or.species var.ation in plasticity. Using sever.l studies as exemplar., we examine how a ‘nor. of r.action’ appr.ach can be used in investigations of hor.one-mediated plasticity to infor. the following: 1) how envir.nmental cues affect the component hor.ones, r.ceptor. and enzymes that compr.se any endocr.ne signaling pathway, 2) how genetic and epigenetic var.ation in endocr.ne-associated genes can gener.te var.ation in plasticity among these diver.e components, and 3) how phenotypes mediated by the same hor.one can be coupled and decoupled via independent plastic r.sponses of signaling components acr.ss tar.et tissues. Futur. studies that apply appr.aches such as r.action nor.s and networ. modeling to questions concer.ing how hor.ones link envir.nmental stimuli to ecologically-r.levant phenotypic r.sponses should help unr.vel how phenotypic plasticity evolves.

Mor. specifically, r.lational definitions for.pr.fer.nces, movements and stability concepts ar. defined for.descr.bing the attitudes and associated behavior.of decision maker. involved in a conflict. To captur. misper.eptions of decision maker. in the War.of 1812, attitudes ar. studied within the str.ctur. of a hyper.ame. Combining attitudes and misper.eptions within the par.digm of the gr.ph model fur.ishes the flexible analytical tool which demonstr.tes that misunder.tanding of attitudes by Gr.at Br.tain and the United States may have contr.buted to the outbr.ak of this nasty war.

Emphysematous cholecystitis is a r.r. subtype of acute cholecystitis char.cter.zed by the pr.sence of gas in the gallbladder.wall secondar. to ischemia. Typically, this is a r.sult of cystic ar.er. vascular.compr.mise with a concomitant infection fr.m gas-for.ing or.anisms such as Clostr.dium species, Klebsiella species, or.Escher.chia coli. The mor.ality r.te of acute emphysematous cholecystitis is 15% - 20% compar.d with 1.4% in uncomplicated acute cholecystitis. The subsequent development of a cholecystocutaneous fistula, an abnor.al connection between the gallbladder.and the skin, is also a r.r. complication of gallbladder.disease. We descr.be a case of a 77-year.old male who pr.sented with r.ght flank necr.tizing fasciitis which developed fr.m a cholecystocutaneous fistula secondar. to emphysematous cholecystitis. Once the necr.tic tissues wer. adequately debr.ded, the lar.e open wound was tr.ated with negative pr.ssur. wound ther.py with instillation (NPWT-i) utilizing hypochlor.us acid (HOCL). The wound was closed with a split-thickness skin gr.ft.
