Effects of low-temperature oxidation on natural remanent magnetization of Chinese loess

This study systematically investigates changes in both compositions and grain-sizes of magnetic minerals in the Chinese loess/paleosol samples (Yichuan, China) during thermal demagnetization processes. Between 100 and 200℃, (1) Hc and Hcr significantly decrease while Mrs and Ms remain stable; (2) concentration of the multi-domain (MD) grains increases while that of superparamagnetic (sP) grains decreases; and (3) there exists the abnormal behavior of the thermal demagnetization in the natural remanent magnetization (NRM). In addition, the corresponding changes in all these parameters are gradually muted with the increase of the pedogenesis degree. The results indicate that the observed alteration probably relates to reducing processes caused by the burning of the organic matter in samples. Before the thermal treatment, the MD grains in loess samples had been partially altered in nature by low-temperature oxidization (LTD). Why is it that ABO3 perovskites generally do not exhibit negative thermal expansion(NTE)over a wide temperature range,whereas layered perovskites of the same chemical family often do?It is generally accepted that there are two key ingredients that determine the extent of NTE:the presence of soft phonon modes that drive contraction(have negative Grüneisen parameters);and anisotropic elastic compliance that predisposes the material to the deformations required for NTE along a specific *** difference in thermal expansion properties is surprising since both ABO3 and layered perovskites often possess these ingredients in equal measure in their high-symmetry *** first principles calculations and symmetry analysis,we show that in layered perovskites there is a significant enhancement of elastic anisotropy due to symmetry breaking that results from the combined effect of layering and condensed rotations of oxygen *** feature,unique to layered perovskites of certain symmetry,is what allows uniaxial NTE to persist over a large temperature *** fundamental insight means that symmetry and the elastic tensor can be used as descriptors in high-throughput screening and to direct materials design.

AIM To identify the effect of hydrogen-rich water(HRW) and electrolyzed-alkaline water(EAW) on high-fat-induced non-alcoholic fatty acid disease in *** Mice were divided into four groups:(1) Regular diet(RD)/regular water(RW);(2) high-fat diet(HFD)/RW;(3) RD/EAW; and(4) HFD/EAW. Weight and body composition were measured. After twelve weeks, animals were sacrificed, and livers were processed for histology and reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. A similar experiment was performed using HRW to determine the influence and importance of molecular hydrogen(H2) in EAW. Finally, we compared the response of hepatocytes isolated from mice drinking HRW or RW to palmitate *** EAW had several properties important to the study:(1) pH = 11;(2) oxidation-reduction potential of-495 mV; and(3) H2 = 0.2 mg/L. However, in contrast to other studies, there were no differences between the groups drinking EAW or RW in either the RD or HFD groups. We hypothesized that the null result was due to low H2 concentrations. Therefore, we evaluated the effects of RW and low and high HRW concentrations(L-HRW = 0.3 mg H2/L and H-HRW = 0.8 mg H2/L, respectively) in mice fed an HFD. Compared to RW and L-HRW, H-HRW resulted in a lower increase in fat mass(46% vs 61%), an increase in lean body mass(42% vs 28%), and a decrease in hepatic lipid accumulation(P stly, exposure of hepatocytes isolated from mice drinking H-HRW to palmitate overload demonstrated a protective effect from H2 by reducing hepatocyte lipid accumulation in comparison to mice drinking regular *** H2 is the therapeutic agent in electrolyzed-alkaline water and attenuates HFD-induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in mice.

software systems have been employed in many fields as a means to reduce human efforts;consequently,stakeholders are interested in more updates of their *** smells arise as one of the obstacles in the software *** are characteristics of software source code that indicate a deeper problem in *** smells appear not only in the design but also in software *** smells introduce bugs,affect software maintainability,and lead to higher maintenance *** code smells can be formulated as an optimization problem of finding the best detection *** researchers have recommended different techniques to improve the accuracy of code smell detection,these methods are still unstable and need to be *** research has sought only to discover a few at a time(three or five types)and did not set rules for detecting their *** research improves code smell detection by applying a search-based technique;we use the Whale Optimization Algorithm as a classifier to find ideal detection *** this algorithm,the Fisher criterion is utilized as a fitness function to maximize the between-class distance over the withinclass *** proposed framework adopts if-then detection rules during the software development life *** rules identify the types for both medium and large *** are conducted on five open-source software projects to discover nine smell types that mostly appear in *** proposed detection framework has an average of 94.24%precision and 93.4%*** accurate values are better than other search-based algorithms of the same *** proposed framework improves code smell detection,which increases software quality while minimizing maintenance effort,time,and ***,the resulting classification rules are analyzed to find the software metrics that differentiate the nine code smells.

Dry direct-seeded rice grown in raised beds is becoming an important practice in the wheat–rice rotation system in ***,little information has been available on the effect of various irrigation regimes on grain yield,water productivity(WP),nitrogen use efficiency(NUE),and greenhouse gas emission in this *** study investigated the question using two rice cultivars in 2015 and 2016 grown in soil with wheat straw incorporated into *** seeds were directly seeded into raised beds,which were maintained under aerobic conditions during the early seedling *** irrigation regimes:continuous flooding(CF),alternate wetting and drying(AWD),and furrow irrigation(FI),were applied from 4.5-leaf-stage to *** with CF,both AWD and FI significantly increased grain yield,WP,and internal NUE,with greater increases under the FI *** two cultivars showed the same tendency in both *** AWD and FI markedly increased soil redox potential,root and shoot biomass,root oxidation activity,leaf photosynthetic NUE,and harvest index and markedly decreased global warming potential,owing to substantial reduction in seasonalThe results demonstrate that adoption of either AWD or FI could increase grain yield and resource-use efficiency and reduce environmental risks in dry direct-seeded rice grown on raised beds with wheat straw incorporation in the wheat–rice rotation system.

The increasing demand for oral macromolecule delivery encouraged the development of mi-croencapsulation technologies to protect such drugs against gastric and enzymatic degra-dation. However, microencapsulation often requires harsh conditions that may jeopardizetheir biological activity. Accordingly, many trials attempted to load macromolecules intoporous drug carriers to bypass any formulation induced instability. In this study, we pre-pared chitosan coated porous poly(d, l-lactide-co-glycolide)(PLGA) microparticles(MPs)loaded with insulin using a novel loading technique; double freeze-drying. The resultsshowed a significant increase in drug loading using only 5 mg/ml initial insulin concen-tration and conveyed a sustained drug release over uncoated MPs. Furthermore, sEM andconfocal microscopy confirmed pore blocking and insulin accumulation within the MPs re-spectively. The oral pharmacodynamic data on rats also proved the preservation of insulinbioactivity after formulation. Finally, the new coating technique proved to be efficient inproducing robust layer of chitosan with higher insulin loading while maintaining insulinactivity.
